Red X was a Master thief, the best in the world (even if he did say so himself). There was nothing he couldn't steal, no safe he couldn't crack, no security system he couldn't hack into. Needless say, not much challenged the young thief anymore. Without that challenge and the rush of adrenalin that came with it, it didn't seem worth it. That's what he lived for. That's how it had always been, long before Red X was Red X. Sadly, Red hadn't felt that burning rush through his veins in much too long. Quick spikes of adrenaline just didn't cut it anymore. Red X needed something real! Something that would occupy his mind, take up every free moment. Something that would challenge him. But what? Fort Knox was too far away. No one else could offer quite the same challenge. Even when fighting all of the Titans, it always came back to their leader. Speaking of the Titans, "So Birdie, where's the rest of the gang?" "Not that it's any of your business, but they're on a mission. We do have more important things to deal with than a petty thief, you know." Robin said as he moved to slam a foot into Red's chest. He had been refraining from using most of his weapons as to not break any of the valuables in the museum. Red scoffed, "And leave you here all alone? Nice try kiddo but I don't believe it." Said petty thief attempted to dodge the foot but couldn't with the angle the other boy was coming from. Both boys skidded back with the force of the kick, Robin all but kneeling on Red's ribcage. After his back hit the floor Red X recovered quickly and flipped them over so Robin was pressed underneath him and he was sitting on the bird's stomach. Both teens were breathing heavily from exertion though Red more so since he had his breath knocked out of him from both the fall and the blow to his …show more content…
Of course! The answer he had been searching for for who-knows-how-long was right in front of his face the whole time. Robin. He would steal Robin. Not physically; that would accomplish nothing. Rather, he would learn every possible thing about him, see his face and, most importantly, steal his heart. Robin was about to slam his knee into Red X's groin (it was the only place he could reach in his position) when the criminal suddenly jumped up. "Sorry, Birdie. I have better things to steal than a rock. See you soon!" Red yelled as he ran out of the museum, not bothering with the diamond any longer. Beast Boy was outside, probably waiting for him in case he escaped Robin. Red ignored him entirely in favor of going back to his apartment to formulate a plan. Robin ran out a moment later. "Where did he go?" He asked Beast Boy. "I don't know man. He ran out here all in a rush but then just disappeared. I was going to go after him but then you came out," the changeling answered before taking the form of a dog. "Should I try to track down his scent?" "Don't bother. You won't find anything," Robin said to the green hound in front of him. They had tried that before. It always got them nowhere. "Come on, we'll get pizza while we wait for the other's to get

Andy, who had the hope that he would escape, was able to adjust to life outside. He posed as Randall Stephens and used the laundered money to live his life. However for Red, life was not only difficult, but Red had become institutionalized like Brooks. For the past 40 years, Red had asked to use the bathroom, once he got out of prison those habits stuck with him. Red had difficulty leaving his prison life behind, versus Andy, who was able to live his life normally. Eventually, this lead to Red having thoughts of committing a crime to re-enter prison life. Red had never planned a life for when he got out of prison, because he never had the hope of getting out. Red struggled to find his place in society and felt he did not matter. This made life extremely difficult for Red and everyday felt like a burden. However, Red remembered the promise he made to Andy and decided to follow through on it. When Red crossed the border to meet up with his old friend Andy, he stated that he finally believed in hope. This shows how powerful hope can be and how it can change one’s perspective of

Today’s society has many different associations for the color red. Red is most often paired with intensity, anger, and aggression. Red is often times a standout color, not modest at all. Policemen are told that when radaring, they should look for red cars first because
The color red is used in literature as well as throughout The Book Thief to display war, blood, and anger (Morton). Early in the novel, Death associates red with war, “The last time I saw her was red… Then bombs” (Zusak 12), Death uses the

The author James hurst keeps bringing up the color red so you keep thinking of it and keep wondering what importance it has.
reds relationship with the guards and inmates are the only reason red has had a successful stay at shawshank. throughout shawshank red makes many deals with the guards not only improving his time at shawshank but giving him a higher status in the prison " Nine or Ten names drawn out of hat and two of them happend to be Andy's and my own" (Page 40) It can most deffinitely be inferred that red made some sort of deal with the gaurds to get the both of them on the roof top considering it was a desired job and nearly seventy other men also wanted the job. Red's relationship withthe gaurds gets him the things he wants when he wants giving him a more positive outlook on the time he is serving. Red is known as the man who can get you things arounf shawshank. Nearly everyone comes to him for anything from cigarettes to a rock hammer. He not only makes a profit off of the items he gets for people he gains a source of power within the prison. Red being the man who can get things is really what sparked the relationship between Andy and Red. " I heard your the man who knows how to get things" (Pg 27) Short but sweet some of the first words shared by andy to red. This is a major monent in the novella because this
His skills are shown later while his team is assaulting a compound. Red is talking to a team member who was recently shot in the vest, when he “yanked Lanyards KA-BAR, turned, and slashed across a pistol that suddenly protruded around the corner of the aisle. The hand dropped to the floor, finger still on the trigger” (McCaleb 129). This demonstrates Red’s keen sense of spacial awareness. The narrator states that he slashed upon someone that ‘suddenly protruded around the corner of the aisle.’ This indicates that the person was out of view when Red reacted. This coupled with the fact that his team was in the middle of a loud gunfight exhibits Red’s superb awareness. All of the ambient noise from the gunshots should have blocked out the man's footsteps, yet Red was still able to hear him and react accordingly. This level of competency can only be achieved through training, which is further shown when Red later kills the injured man: “He pulled the screaming victim around the corner and knifed him through the throat, cranking the KA-BAR sideways to sever the spinal
When you think of the color red, you may automatically think of the ideas of death, emotion, or love. James Hurst uses the symbolic color of red help us visualize the story and bring it to life. For example, the narrator describes Doodle during the storm saying, “He had been bleeding from the mouth, and his neck and the front of his shirt were stained a brilliant red.” Hurst using the words bleeding and red give us a better visual to what is happening in the story. He as well does this when the narrator says, “ I began to weep, and the tear blurred vision in red before me looked very familiar.” This line shows Brother’s emotions, how angry he was and remorseful. Other instances where the author uses red is with Doodle’s mahogany casket, the bleeding tree, and the Ibis’

Andy had to behave in a way that built Red’s trust, and that’s how Andy redeemed himself. Andy did many good things for many people. When he does the taxes for the guards, it gives him protection, but also provides his inmates with benefits. He asks the guards for things that he wouldn’t have been able to ask for before he started doing the taxes. He established relationships with the guards so that he could get stuff. Andy has redeems himself with an inner light that he carries around with him, and that’s how he gets through prison life. “ A sense of his own worth, maybe, or a feeling that he would be the winner in the end… or maybe it was only a sense of freedom, even inside these goddamned grey walls. It was a kind of inner light he carried around with him. “ ( King. 27. ) This shows that Red is affected by Andy’s personality because Andy isn’t being beaten down by the prison, and never doubts himself or his beliefs. Red is describing the ways that Andy was different from everybody
The film starts out with a narration about the repercussions of killing a man. The narrator pops up in snippets during the film. What adds to the confusion is that we don't know who is behind the voice, and all the men we see speaking in this film have a similar resonance in theirs. This makes the plot even more intriguing, trying to figure out which one of these people is the true narrator of Red
His skills helped him gain the trust and popularity from both Mr. Warden and his inmates. He is calm and cool in behavior that made him likable. He is loyal as he made sure he kept the promise he made to his friend Red. Andy has high external as he is educated and had a high position in a bank. On the other hand, Red has been in prison for his entire adult life which resulted in a change of personal system. He doesn’t think of life after prison. He has been “institutionalized “. He has become dependent on the required system that he doesn’t think he can survive after prison. The word institutionalized as described by Red is the process by which prisoners first hate the prison then gets used to it that finally, even their lives depend on it. (Movie). Red is also the guy that can get you anything. He sells “cigarettes, a bag of resources and a bottle of brandy” which resulted in high power and respect from his inmates. He values the life he has in prison than anything else. I believe this is because it has been a long time since he was out to see the world. He has already adjusted his behavior and way of life in regards to the required system of the prison. The rest of the prisoner’s personal system lies between these two.
