Red X: A Narrative Fiction

Decent Essays

Red X was a Master thief, the best in the world (even if he did say so himself). There was nothing he couldn't steal, no safe he couldn't crack, no security system he couldn't hack into. Needless say, not much challenged the young thief anymore. Without that challenge and the rush of adrenalin that came with it, it didn't seem worth it. That's what he lived for. That's how it had always been, long before Red X was Red X. Sadly, Red hadn't felt that burning rush through his veins in much too long. Quick spikes of adrenaline just didn't cut it anymore. Red X needed something real! Something that would occupy his mind, take up every free moment. Something that would challenge him. But what? Fort Knox was too far away. No one else could offer quite the same challenge. Even when fighting all of the Titans, it always came back to their leader. Speaking of the Titans, "So Birdie, where's the rest of the gang?" "Not that it's any of your business, but they're on a mission. We do have more important things to deal with than a petty thief, you know." Robin said as he moved to slam a foot into Red's chest. Rather, he would learn every possible thing about him, see his face and, most importantly, steal his heart. Robin was about to slam his knee into Red X's groin (it was the only place he could reach in his position) when the criminal suddenly jumped up. "Sorry, Birdie. I have better things to steal than a rock. See you soon!" Red yelled as he ran out of the museum, not bothering with the diamond any longer. Beast Boy was outside, probably waiting for him in case he escaped Robin. Red ignored him entirely in favor of going back to his apartment to formulate a plan. Robin ran out a moment later. "Where did he go?" He asked Beast Boy. "I don't know man. He ran out here all in a rush but then just disappeared. I was going to go after him but then you came out," the changeling answered before taking the form of a dog. "Should I try to track down his scent?" "Don't bother. You won't find anything," Robin said to the green hound in front of him. They had tried that before. It always got them nowhere. "Come on, we'll get pizza while we wait for the other's to get
