Test Result Reflection
Before choosing our career we took about 3 test to find out what career was perfect fit for us, of course this is not 100% accurate but it helps. We took The Myer Briggs Personality Test, the Multiple Intelligence Test, and the Career Navigator Test. In the first test that we took was the Myer Briggs personality test, this test helped me find out more the type of person I am and I'm not surprised, it also showed me my strengths and weaknesses. My strength is that I like challenges and will do anything to accomplish it. And if someone accomplished something that would have impressed me I will complement them and make them feel as I do when i do something accomplishable. However my weaknesses are that I can easily get distracted from my job and if someone does singing incorrect in the job I will get mad and fire someone. I also founded out that I like do my work fast and perfect, and that I won't let any words or actions hurt me whatsoever. This test helped me a lot in learning more about me and how I can be inside the job, plus it showed me in what characteristics I should be writing on for the future is I somehow become the leader in a group. The second test we took was the Multiple intelligence test this test helped me find my weaknesses and strengths that I have, which was interesting, my top 3 strengths are math/logic, which makes me like to solve problems and use logic to solve them. My other strength is body movement which is true because I do move around alot. The last strength is spatial which equals me to like graphs and shapes which is perfect for my job. My 2 weaknesses are music and language this is because I don't put them as priority. However I also learned that I can be a organized person but also a perfectionist. This test helped
For instance the strength of being restorative has shown me that I need to work on not trying to control every situation and solve every problem someone has. I need to let them figure out how to solve their problems and just be a sounding board for them when they need it. Being a mom it is hard to not just jump in every time my boys face a difficult situation and just solve it for them. They are young men now and I realize that I need to take a back seat and let them figure out where their life’s road will take them and to be there to listen and help as they ask me. Hard, yes, but a necessity. By doing the assessment and finding out what my top three strengths are I can use them to in the best way possible to achieve the goals I have for my life both personally and professionally. I realize that being deliberative, my belief system and being restorative are my strengths and not weaknesses and I can now capitalize on those strengths at work and
I have chosen to pursue a career in computer science, because it has been a heavy influence on me throughout my life. All my life I have been surrounded by technology, almost more than half of my family has a career in the IT field, which is what sparked my interest. My earliest memory of when I first became interested was when I was about 6 and my mother bought me a phonics dog, and I was more interested in how it worked rather than what it did. I then saw the screw bolts and knew if I used a screwdriver I could see the inside of the toy so I opened it, and from then on I knew I was interested in technology. In middle school was when I first took my actual dive into the IT world and I learned there are different computer languages, and about different devices used in the tech world. Also I
Myers and Briggs created a personality test that not only will help people to figure out their personality types, but at the same time it aids in the discovery of which career pathways people should take based on their specific personality traits. Based on the personality trait INFP that was given to me from the Myer-Briggs test I have quite a few career pathways that fit my personality. Some of the career choices suited to my personality is a writer, counselor, teacher/professor, psychologist, psychiatrist, musician, or a religious worker; which seems like a pretty broad selection. Although there is a broad selection of careers that would suit my personality none of which are the career path that I have chosen; which is to become a physical therapist, but if I was not set on a goal some of these career ideas would not seem too bad. While reading the list of jobs suited for my personality I was surprised to see that psychologist was on the list because before I decided to go for physical therapy I wanted to pursue a career in that exact field. As for most of the other fields mentioned above I
After doing the personality tests on Indiana Career Explorer, the tests gave me a couple of examples of fields I would be successful in, it told me what values may be important to me in a workplace environment. I feel these assessments were spot on and I have more confidence in my ability to be successful in my career choice.
How I came to choose which career path better suites me is through figuring out which of the daily tasks and environments I would like to pursue as a career. Each job is particularly
Life is full of decisions. You have the choice to decide what you want to do for a career. Some may have jobs they wish they could change or made the decision before to have done something differently. The career you choose should be something you love, along with aspects that fit your values the best. Interest, skills, financially that you know you can excel in. A plan for life is important, so it’s best to know or have an idea on what you want to proceed in.
Questions, tests, and psyche evaluations can't let you know what your ideal profession might be, yet they can help you recognize what's paramount to you in a career choice, what you appreciate doing, and where you outperform.
Taking the personality test I was nervous to see what my results would be. I have taken many challenges like this before, ever since I was in middle school until now. My results came back pretty similar to the results and careers I’m interested in. The specific traits behind a career for an
For this project you will be completing the StrengthsQuest exercise and then compiling the information and findings comparing your personal strengths with your current job.
When it comes to someone picking a career, this can be complicated and sometimes even complex. When someone has finally chosen a career field, this just means that thy have decided that they have finally figured out what it is that they want to do in their life. It also means that they figured out that this career is something that they love and see their self-doing for a while, and it will be able to provide them with a comfortable lifestyle. However, I would have to say that is not what happened for me. The career I had chosen was not something that I loved doing. It was something that allowed me to be able to provide for my son. My career at this moment is working in the United States Army, as a logistic specialist. I have been within
Throughout my life I have struggled with making a decision on what career I want to take on. Over the years, my career goal has changed from being a teacher to being a game warden and everything in between. I normally struggle making life changing decisions; therefore, when I was recently asked what I aspired to be, I had no answer. I have taken many aptitude tests and most of them have helped me in making this life changing decision.
I also liked taking the assessments. The career assessments are a great assessment to take for ourselves and also for students who are looking to enter a career. It is great that the career assessment confirmed my beliefs that working as a counselor or in the education field matches my interest. I can’t believe that the unemployment rate is so high. I’m sure this class has prepared you to help the students with their career and college decisions. The websites were very helpful and I will be using them in the future. It was great working with you in this class.
Throughout your lifetime you will eventually have to decide on what career you want to begin your journey on. In the United States and around the world, many individuals will choose their career path very early in their lifetimes in order to attain the job position that they desire. With this being said, one must carefully plan and modify their lives to prepare for what the future withholds. For instance, in order for me to achieve my long time goals of becoming a software developer and/or a computer system analyst, then I would need to continue patiently walk along the bumpy path on my laborious, lengthy journey. Lastly, the following careers that I’ve set my eyes on will embark us onto a prolonged life excursion.
