Reflections on My Life
When I examine my life, I like to reflect on two facets of religion and mathematics. In the book “Hugs for Grads”, Jeff Walling advised the graduates, “The simple basics of life – love, faith, and hope – are all we really need. We can’t undo all the world’s wrongs, but we can affect the corner of the world we live in if we’ll just stick to the basics – the basics of life.” This means that religion is one of the basics of life. In addition, math is essential in everything. Mathematical applications in the study of science are essential. If I want to invest in a business, I must know how to deal with the numbers. In addition, tracking the orbits of planets in the galaxy cannot be done without numerical comparisons. When I examine my life, I discover that the Catholic school and mathematics helped me to support myself and live peacefully in three chapters of my life: my childhood, my adolescence and my maturity.
First chapter, I grew up in Virtue Hill, which means “God’s Place”, in the decade 1960 – 1970. My parents found a Catholic school in this place to raise me and educate me. Throughout my childhood, my father’s military career kept our family traveling. When I was a fourth grader, my father who was a soldier often deployed constantly. My mother sent me to an elementary Catholic boarding school for my education. This upbringing taught me that whatever else might change in my life, fidelity to my education was very important.
As I grew up, I also
Humans possess a wide range of attributes and characteristics, of which one of the most funda- mental features is that of curiosity. This curiosity has led man to wonder, ponder and then learn. The curious nature of humans drives them to always try to find solutions to the puzzling mysteries behind their ideas and thereby ending up inventing and innovating, extending the boundaries of science and technology. Babylonians and Egyptians used arithmetic, algebra and geometry for taxation and other financial calculations, for building and construction, and for astronomy. To deal with the new dynamics that had arisen from the work of Sir Issac Newton and Galileo Galilei the creation and development of calculus was required. All of them made use of the fundamental tools and items at their disposal to achieve this, but would not have been successful without the one crucial tool - knowledge of mathematics. Mathematics is a language - the language of science and it comes as no surprise that mathematics is vitally important when explaining any phenomenon or scientific theory or proving scientific laws.
Geometry and Algebra are so crucial to the development of the world it is taught to every public high school in the United States, around 14.8 million teenagers each year (National Center for Education Statistics). Mathematics is the engine powering our world; our stocks, economy, technology, and science are all based off from math. Math is our universal and definite language “I was especially delighted with the mathematics, on account of the certitude and evidence of their reasonings.” (Rene Descartes, 1637).
The only evidence that still exists as proof that she graduated from high school in 1980 is her graduation ring. Due to my mother’s financial constraints, she was not able to afford the ring, but acquired it through a friend’s kind gesture. Over time, it has become a symbol of an aspiration that extended from her to me. However, throughout my mother’s life, she has had many challenges facing her, not only in life, but also in education. Who I am today are blessings made possible by my mother’s sacrifices.
Influence is defined as "the power to change or affect someone or something" by Merriam-Webster online. No matter how big or how small an influence is, it has the power to change the world for better or worse. In my lifetime, I have been influenced by many experiences and people. Life is a constant change because of influences. 4-H and my mom are the most dominant influences in my life that push me towards pursuing a college education.
Many activities are offered at Sidney High School. I have participated in numerous of these ranging from National Honor Society to basketball. An abundance of the programs I have been involved have taught me lessons on becoming a better student and member of the community. Teachers have come and gone, some leaving a large impact on my life. These experiences and relationships are ones that I will hold with me as time goes on. These teachers have influenced the way my life has taken shape. Being in all these activities does not only leave an impact on my life, but the community and school as well. They have taught me right from wrong and I believe I would not be the person I am today without many of these activities and/or teachers.
Hey I’m Adrian McGill African American citizen and I’m from a small city down south in Mississippi by the name of Hattiesburg. I was born on the night of July 25, 1990 in Forest General Hospital weighing seven pounds two ounces. I am the son of Jerry and Sandra McGill, who I love dearly. I am the only child my parents have and enjoy every moment of ‘’laughing out loud’’. As a child, my parents always taught me to never quit at anything, but to figure it out. My parents encourage me to follow my goals and in life and to also finish getting my diploma through Penn Foster. That’s my plan to accomplish all of my goals one at time and to do them to the best of my ability. My favorite colors are dark blue and black I like blue and black
I was born in a small village on a cold and stormy night, which started the anger that I still carry today. I grew up fast in my life and was soon an outcast to society. Kids picked on me, older people looked down on me, I was unable to fit in anywhere in society. I tried to be nice to others, but they were never nice to me. My mom was the only one who truly liked me. My Dad left me after I was born and he grew to hate me also. It is always cold where I live so I believe that the coldness has affected the hearts of everyone I try and get close to.
When traumatic events take place, no one has time to stop to think or take a breath and watch their life drastically change before their eyes. You don't think of those things at just three years old. The last thing I was imagining was that I would eventually learn from my hardships and grow as a person. Several years later, I realized my true purpose on a simple school day my sophomore year of high school.
Have you ever found yourself asking God to take you out of a rough season of your life? Your prayer may even look something like this “God, get me out of this mess.” We get consumed with our distress that we often miss the development. I will speak more on our personal and leadership development in the next blog. When was the last time you found yourself in a season of distress? For some of you reading this you are in that season right now. Guess what? You are not alone. I have been in a season of distress for the last several months.
The reason I am who I am is obviously from my origin. My tribe is one of the strongest ethnic groups in the Arab world. However, I choose to believe the reason I am who I am comes from nurture. I was always raised and treated in good Muslim household when I was a child, my parents always insured a healthy and stable life and education that I can have. I studied five years in China, in an international school in the Fijian province. Those five years had the largest impact on my life so far. I was living a completely different life, and getting use to a completely different culture. It’s true they’re both in the same continent, however they have different lifestyles.
There is a myth that in seven years, your body completely replaces itself. The idea is that in that time, all of your cells will have regenerated themselves, so the parts that make up your body are entirely different. If this is true, this raises the question: are you the same person you were seven years ago? Unfortunately, this myth has been debunked. There are some parts of your body that stay the same throughout your entire life, like your tooth enamel and your retinas. Nevertheless, the original question still stands, and lately, I have been thinking about how I’ve changed as a person.
There was no need for sunshine because I preferred the rain. I read that over and over till I was just sick of it I let out a growl of pure exhaustion.
One's dream and aspirations to supersede in life must be stronger and greater than limitations set forth by others. The experience that were bestowed to me during my short life has elevated me to the woman I am today. Please walk with me as I give you the opportunity to see the world from my eyes:
This explains the beginning of my life all the way to the end of my life. My life from the beginning was very fun as I grew up living with my mom’s friend and my friend. But there were a lot of fights and I was very hyper back then. I have ADHD so back then when I was little; I was very hyper and wouldn't stop moving around the place. I always was annoying back then and never seemed to get my homework done at school.
Throughout this course, I have learned a great deal of useful information that I can apply to my everyday life. I had to learn to expand my writing skills and gave me a chance to use different writing techniques I can carry on in my higher education journey. I can honestly say, this is one class that I would recommend to anyone who needs help with learning to navigate the internet. At first I thought I would struggle because English isn’t my strong suit.
