I went to Hope City Church on Dec. 2 2017 to experience their Saturday night worship. When first arrived the church was really welcoming. The door greeter were giving out high fives and had huge smiles. We had to wait in a line for a little before we could sit down in the theater. As soon as we entered the service everyone sat down and, waited for the band to come out. Right before the band came out a video came on the AV screen came on talking about bringing hope to Houston which featured the pastor of the church. The goal of the church spread hope and have it reach America and even other nations. People truly become excited waiting for the service to begin . People started getting up and clapping their hands and cheering to welcome in the band. Music starts playing and people clap louder until someone yells “Welcome Hope City” When the band started playing, the music that they were playing was mostly popular Christian songs that we hear on the radio. Example of this types of this music is Hillsong, Elevation Worship, and Bethel Music. The doctrine in the music draws a lot of attention to the need of Heavenly Father in our lives and, how God loves us. The band typically plays around five to six songs. Most of the song s have the same underlying meaning behind them. The style of the worship was revivalist, in the fact the most of the attention was focused on the band and, else on the audience singing along. Most of the song had a similar uplifting doctrine. Restoring hope, Finding comfort in God, and Breaking away from sins. When the Pastor came up to preach his sermon we see that emerging doctrine is Hope. That we should have hope for better thing and, to spread that hope to the world. Hope is the major doctrines that is preached at Hope City Church. There goal is to spread Hope through city and then the world. The church wants each person that attends their church to be lights of the gospel. Evangelism is another very important doctrine in this church. Hope City wants to bring people to God and, push them to grow in their faith. The Pastor stated that he believe we have too many baby Christian who have become comfortable. His goal is to make us uncomfortable in our faith and, to allow the Holy Spirit to
They have rock bands in church and singing and all together a different type of preaching then I grew up knowing. I learned that there is different ways non-denominational churches handle things compared to that of other Christian faiths. It was very upbeat and lively throughout the entire sermon where compared to that of a LDS sacrament service being more
The people there were very welcoming and kind. The shook every single person hand and greeted them genially when they walked in. As I sat down, there was a countdown till when it begins. There were seats all around and in the center they had a stage, where there were people preparing to sing. They began their ceremony exactly at 8:30 with singing 3 songs. When we sang, everyone stood up for respect. Followed by that, the pastor recited a prayer with everyone to make this week better than the last. He welcomed everyone, including the people who are new, and told them more about what they do at Kennedy Road Tabernacle Church. The priest then talked about the Provision of Vision from the bible. There was a sheet that was handed out so as you listen you fill in the blanks. ( I attached the sheet I completed) I thought this was very convenient because it makes you pay attention and have something to do other than sitting down. He was reading about the Provision of the Vision and relating it to financial difficulties and how God is always there for you. After, I talked to one priest to get a better background of Christianity. I related what he said to the reading of ‘Christianity’ we did earlier in September. When he spoke to me, he said that they believe in one god, but that includes the father, son, holy spirit, He said Jesus died for us on a cross for the sins of the

What area has the African American Church given it highest priority and why? (Chapter 9)
The Mt. The Peace Missionary Baptist Association of Western NC was established around the year 1890. The earliest recorded history is derived from the 44th annual session’s minutes. The Association was held at the Gold Hill Baptist Church, Lowesville, NC on October 16-19, 1912.
A.) The mission chapel is beautiful. The beauty of this chapel can compare to the Santa Barbara one. They both are bright in color. When in the chapels I get a warm feeling. Old artwork. Kind of built like an ancient style building. Candles light up the room.
Once during a passionate sermon at church, my pastor had made a vivid statement about incorporation of sin in law. Pastor Smith stated, “the world has developed loopholes to maintain its dignity by incorporating sin into the law, and as long as we are operating under the law, our actions are perceived as being justified”(Smith). Reflecting on his theory has brought me to the realization that the United Stated has established a profitable industry, governed by the creation and the manipulation of laws. Although, it’s ideal to believe that the standards of laws were truly orchestrated with the foundation of equality, justice, and freedom. It is imperative to be informed of historical events that has transpired through the history of the black race each operating under the ordinance of law. Beginning with the development of slavery, to the alarming rate of black men behind bars. I am compelled to present the clause of injustice that has labeled the United States as the home of 25% of the world 's prisoners ().
Millions of children are waiting to be adopted by a family from the ages of 2 months old until they are released at the age of eighteen. Many of these children have little to no known affiliation or influence of religion. Christ Community Church had interacted with more than sixty outside organizations to help raise financial aid and encourage religious influence in adoptive and pre adoptive families of orphans. The Christ Community Church builds its credibility with the information it provides and the organizations that are affiliated, using a strong appeal to emotion by showing helpless orphans, the ad also provides a logical appeal by giving background information about the organization providing a website for further information.
Within the African-American community, Christianity has manifest itself to be one of the cornerstones of the community. Surprisingly enough however, the church was introduced to African-Americans as a means of trying to control the thoughts and actions of the slaves. When analyzing the church in its modern state, it would be hard to come to this realization. Since its humble beginnings, many African-Americans have come to adopt the Christian faith as their own. Even as slaves, African-Americans began starting their own churches to allow them to worship how they wanted. Churches such as Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church (GMPMBC) (which has been a part of the local community since 1939) are prime examples of how the church has grown to become an integral part of the African-American community. This paper will analyze the history of GMPMBC and discuss how it is overlooked in mainstream society. From there, it will transition in to discussing how the church has been neglected by the community it serves.
With this quote we may ask, what is the role of the government for its citizens? It is simply to protect its citizens and to help provide for the citizens. We are privileged to have opportunities in America and peruse them. Therefore, we are in turn the ownership of our own happiness. Many Americas feel as being a citizen of the United States that they are “entitled” to such government funds a food stamps, discounted childcare, or housing. Having this entitlement is a form of the American way of perusing freedoms and benefits of the government, but in return places the government in more debt. Destiny Worship Center has the “Crisis Center” for those in need of help, but must qualify as they do in the government. No person that attends the church is “entitled.” We are all created equal before the law but we are not entitled human beings.
For this first Experience Paper I went to a Mormon Church with one of my dance teachers and her family. I had never gone to a Mormon Church before so the experience was new to me.
On November 18, 1978 more than nine hundred people died in one of the largest mass murder/suicides in history. The man that implemented and carried out that atrocity was James Warren Jones, otherwise known as Jim Jones, a self proclaimed Second Coming (God). His exposure to an intensely emotional Pentecostal church service influenced and shaped his future beliefs and actions. In 1960, despite his lack of theological training, Jim Jones became an ordained minister. He made racial equality one of goals. Jim Jones also used fear arousal to recruit his followers by Genocide and thermonuclear war.
The Chinese Christian church in the United States often has ethnic characteristics, but different Chinese churches often have special concentration in the composition of the congregation, which reflects the tide of Chinese immigrants in different stages. For example, descendants of early immigrants from southern China usually have their fixed church. International students from the mainland of China have the church which they set up together. And other "informal immigrants" also formed Christian organizations. According to Aihui Lee, she divides American Chinese Christianity into four categories.
I entered into the worship service, unaware of what to expect. I was not familiar with this church, it was a non-denominational church, but the pastor had his roots in the A.M.E. Zion Church and branched out to establish his own church. I walked into the sanctuary prepared to participate in the Sunday School. I found a seat and readied myself to engage in some meaningful discussion. After sitting for several minutes, I asked one of the gentlemen who was standing at the front of the church if they had already started and where was the lesson coming from. He looked at his watch and indicated that he didn’t know if we had time for Sunday School. A puzzled look came over my face and I couldn’t help but express my confusion as I looked at
Studies of Jesus primarily focus on the duality of Jesus and how he is able to be both human and divine at once. This subject was disputed at the Council of Chalcedon in the year 451 between the
