The main reasoning behind my decision to apply for the online pathway was to help care for my brother whom has a mental disability. I have been given guardianship for him and I regularly help provide care for him. Additionally, I also help support my grandma by aiding in transportation to hospital visits, shopping, and providing maintenance for her house. Last week I was offed an opportunity for the campus, but because I want to provide as much help to my family as possible I would like to be reconsidered for the distance pathway. Although I feel that I could be able to go the campus pathway, overall it would provide a more difficult journey through school. I would have to travel back to rural Hartford, SD at least once a week to support …show more content…
Here are some of the strategies I plan on employing in the online pathway which will allow me to be successful. To start off I’ve had a good amount of experience with online courses. One of the biggest skills I’ve developed is maximizing time management and the usage of technology. I take full advantage using a schedule which allows to keep on track, setting time aside for studying or group work, and helping maintain a school/life balance. In keeping a schedule also allows me to submit assignments well before their due dates. The next strategy I’ve developed is with the use of online based study tools. Because the lectures are recorded I often rewatch lectures along with reviewing notes and text books as a way of staying on track and prepared for new content. While watching lectures or while reading the courses texts, I often write down any questions I may have in a notebook. If while reading I am able to answer my own question I write down the answer after the question. This acts not only as a way to help in retention of new information but it also acts as an additional tool for review. If there are any other questions I then reach out through email or online video chat. Additionally using skype has also been exceedingly helpful resource in solving

In December 2014, The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education published “Rethinking the Admission Process.” This article was written by Frank DiMaria, who takes a look at the research of the former president of the University of Wyoming, Robert Sternberg. DiMaria explains Sternberg’s stance against the current admissions process. Sternberg has research that depicts, “GPA, standardized tests, and essays do not successfully measure the true talent of a college applicant.” He believes that the policies need to change. Sternberg offers an alternative to the current process. Sternberg has been a part of a new admissions policy testing students not just on their memorization and analytical skills, but on their creative, practical, and wisdom-based skills as well. Sternberg’s ideas stem from his experience with disadvantaged youth and their ability to adapt and overcome obstacles. Sternberg claims that students who grow up in the upper middle class tend to have an environment which better values the analytical skills that the current tests measure. He argues that, because of this, colleges may not be getting the most creative and adaptable students. He shows that some of these less privileged students are capable of handling a college workload even though they may not have been able to score as high on the SAT or other tests. DiMaria believes that through Sternberg’s Kaleidoscope policy may be a solution. The Kaleidoscope way of admissions administers tests which ask open ended
I have also operated as part of a team, for example AUQA audits, scholarship allocations, and large IT projects. Having spent most of my career working in schools and faculties I am well versed in dealing with students, general and academic staff and central units. These include timetabling, graduation, prizes and scholarships, and student and academic administration. I have also provided support to academic staff as required, for example in invigilating assessment items (including online assessment), developing course and subject proposals, reviewing Turn It In reports for potential plagiarism, and enabling advanced Blackboard
Realizing the deficits in numbers of primary care physicians in rural Ohio has been a chief motivator for me to pursue osteopathic medicine at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. My Appalachian home town of Gnadenhutten, Ohio encompasses one of these medically underserved areas, and working with and receiving my tutelage from a couple of the few physicians in my area, I wish to come back to serve it. I believe that Rural and Urban Scholars Pathway program will be an invaluable asset in accomplishing my goals of eventually serving the medical needs of my rural community.
I truly believe that I can succeed in this course. Online learning is a better option for me because I enjoy learning on my own. While I will not be solely by myself in this course, I will be required to do a lot of the planning on my own. My strengths include being very strict with myself, great time management skills, study tools and techniques, and my determination to learn everything that I can. In contrast, my weaknesses include losing interest easily, losing motivation when something confuses me, and bad memory. To improve these weaknesses, I will do my very best to pay attention and make my classes this semester my top priority. I will also do everything in my power to make sure I understand the material I am required to learn. Finally, I will improve my poor memory by using an academic planner to keep track of all my assignments and their due
How can technical colleges help motivate their students more? Technical colleges cater to student interests, rather than push students through, VTC offers a deeper education about what matters to me. Additionally, the smaller classes at VTC will help me with understanding topics through smaller student to teacher ratios. I was always the type of student who loved small classes, excelling with some monitoring from my teacher. I need a college that can understand my thirst for learning, and VTC will help guide me towards my future goals. Once accepted, I will be diligent in my classes, and learn every topic thoroughly throughout my college years. Even take every single piece of information to heart. Every assignment that I will write is going
I attended and graduated from Irvine High School in 1993. Immediately after graduation I started the summer session of community college at Irvine valley College., at the time I was under the belief if one had started the summer session that person would have a higher probability of attending classes that were desired. On a recommendation from a friend who had started college before me I enrolled in a Criminal justice class. This class began my interest in the criminal justice field. During this time I began living on my own, paying rent and working full time. I worked at a grocery store and then The Home Depot.
I currently attend Eastland Career Center and I am studying Criminal Justice. Some of the skills I have learned in the Criminal Justice program include the following: fingerprinting, use of handcuffs, searches and seizures and training in first aid and CPR. Physical training is also part of our class, it consists of a mix between running and cross fit exercises.
I am particularly interested in the 1st STEP program because of the opportunity presented to acquire advocacy, persuasion and presentation skills that are fundamental not only in the court room but also in all areas of lawyering. As a continuing J.D. student, and ranked 86 (47%) of my class, I wish to engage in the fundamentals of litigation so as to better serve possible clients. Because I was pre-admitted into the program upon my acceptance letter, I choose Golden Gate University to learn and grow and hope this program will further my education.
Reflective practice is used in nursing to improve practice. This is done through a self-examination of work done in the past .consciously analysing the decisions taken in the course of one’s practice. It also involves an analysis of the individuals thought processes during and after the clinical event. Relating them to theories and concepts with a view to modifying decisions, behaviour, learning needs, treatments and actions in the future.

Throughout my time here at SLU, I have immersed myself in different activities which have enhanced my development, my character and values, and have allowed me to become the woman I am today. These experiences have helped prepare me for this program, which range from a variety of courses, intercultural involvements, internship/job experiences, and previous international travel.
I am currently a student at AUIS and have three unsuccessful attempts at the USMLE STEP 1 exam. I am writing to you to appeal for sponsorship to sit for my USMLE STEP 1 exam.
While attending nursing school years ago, I was given the choice of continuing my studies in practicing bedside nursing or nursing research. At that time, I desired to practice nursing research, however, I was influenced to practice bedside nursing, which I chose. Promoting the scholarship of application allows me to enhance my knowledge in an area of practice I originally desired.
Becoming an online student is not always an easy decision, but sometimes the best decision. A lot of people have very busy lives such as having a family, full-time job and/or other priorities. I myself had to tend to family and a full- time job, so online classes were the best decision for me. I was initially a traditional student, so I became accustomed to a classroom setting. Within making that tough decision, I did not know that my approach to learning needed to be different from a traditional student.
