Humanities helps us to survive and thrive in this modern world to achieve our goals which is full of competition and obstacles .Exploring different aspects of life this video explains when human has started using languge, literature, art , music and dance to understand people and the world. By observing different sculptures and buildings we can better understand history. By exploring humanities we will be able to think critically and reasonably. Now lets look at the drama Oedipus it teaches us that whatever is fated to happen will happen and you cannot do anything to stop it. I believe this is true for us too, whatever is in our fate will happen sooner or later. Here they pray to god Apollo, he represents the sun god which gives light to all. We also pray sun god and other gods everyday. Humanities is all about finding ones own culture and religion. Ways of seeing by John Berger are based on the way we see things is affected by our knowledge and beliefs. He believes that camera/photographic techniques for reproducing pictures have altered the way in which the art of the past is seen. Studying the Art is rewarding and fun. From art we could build a deeper understanding of the world we live in and how we got here. Art is like an idea brought into the world though drawing. People study art because they learn about their own creative expressions. Art is a window on our thoughts and emotions. It takes us to different times and places. For example, art holds clues from the past. It contributes who we are as people. Art gives us knowledge, inspiration and how we feel and view the world around us.
Humanities are required for the development of an individual’s creativity and expression, without these skills our society would be monotonous and bland. Our nation was built on the ideals of freedom and democracy, and although math and science help us to progress economically and technologically, they don’t help individuals to express themselves to be effectively represented by our government.
From grammar jeopardy in English class to researching Túpac Amaru in Spanish, all of my classes at BHMS are extremely alluring and fun, but my Humanities class to stand out within all of my great classes. The Humanities class in BHMS is the perfect combination of hands-on education, creativity and Fun. Mixing those three things is a tough thing to do, but my teacher Launa Schweizer does it every time. She make every single class so fun and engaging, whether it is going outside and polling people or making an imaginary journey to Oregon. Humanities is by far my favorite class and always manages to interest me no matter what.
The Renaissance period was impacted by humanism strongly because people were now starting to realize, they weren’t just peasants that worked for a lord but they too were people that could make their own decisions. People valued their self-worth now, and they wanted to learn about reading, writing, and the
Motivation from within? Earl Shorris and Mark Edmundson come from two different places but their writings still come together. Both are writers and critics of our society. In Shorris’ essay he writes about people in social distress and the Clemente Course.
Humanities are a vital part of learning, although real life interactions and situations should also be tied into these courses of study. Humanities are defined by Miller as: “…courses in disciplines such as English, philosophy, and art history” (Miller 444). The humanities are used as basic knowledge but not as something to be learned in a trade. Humanities help provide an appreciation for finer things in life like art and literature. When students are being taught the humanities it should also be apparent in the classroom how these lessons can be applied after the class is over.

I strongly agree with Alan Wildman’s article “We ignore the liberal arts at our peril” about the significance of a liberal art degree as the liberal arts and humanities maintain a crucial role in creating an active society that inspires and advances throughout different academic fields. Graduates of humanities and liberal arts have a better understanding of cultures and history and thus it creates a more open minded society and inspires scholars in other academic fields and prevents the society from repeating previous mistakes. Moreover, the liberal arts influence is the foundation of other fields as it provides the chance of thinking more actively and thus creates more original ideas that can be applied in other careers. For instance, authors write about fascinating gadgets in their fiction novels, which inspires scientists and engineers to create these inventions in real life.
Throughout this course, we have been asked "What is humanities"? Humanities is the study of human beings by culture, the arts including theater, dance, and music. This advancement in the Information Age has a discrepancy; such as the commencement of technology and the definition of digital, new methods of interaction between different people and devices.
