Reflective Evidence The author of this paper is asked to offer reflective evidence on a number subjects covered during the class for which this assignment is being completed. The subjects of the reflective evidence include the consultancy pitch assessment and at least two of formative assessment opportunities done throughout the year including CV development, mock interviews, mock presentations and peer review of pitches. Consultancy Pitch Summary The consultancy pitch PowerPoint that discusses the law firm and the auditing firm was fairly informative. It was perhaps emblemized by a lot of flowery speech that may or may not be reinforced or actually practiced within the firm, but the author will behave and react on the premise that it's legitimate given that there is not currently any evidence to the contrary at this time. The pitch document, as presented, illustrates that at least some firms out there take who they hire and why very seriously and they are absolutely on board with making sure that potential hires match up with the corporate culture of the company as well as the personal habits and cultures of the people that work for the firm. For example, many firms are multi-cultural and/or multi-national and this thus requires that the people they hire speak English and/or other languages very well. The overall pitch to approach established and reputable companies that do not currently recruit with the college is indeed a good idea. This is evidenced by the fact that
Competing in global markets entail many factors and centralization of its human resource practices is certainly vital to improve global competitiveness and empower employees for global assignments. Employers are increasingly searching for multilinguals in order to widen their client pool. Someone who is able to communicate through multiple languages immediately have an advantage over someone who cannot by simply having the ability to communicate with more people. As a result of
My course of study at the University of Mary is the Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Educator track. My level of experience in education is limited to the time I have spent educating patients within the various positions I have held since becoming a nurse. Pre- and post-op instructions, educating patients during their labor and delivery experience, as well as educating patients on medications, treatments and options in their care include some of the ways I've interacted with patients in providing education. I do not have any experience in the development or implementation of research of evidence-based projects (EBP) studies.
Upon completion of this project I learned that many times patients were unaware of the compilations such as infection that may occur with central lines. This has taught me the importance of proving education to our patients in addition to staff members. Patients can help decrease central line associated blood stream infections by being aware of their surroundings and ensuring that nurses, physicians, and visitors take proper steps in decreasing infections rate. Implementing a policy to place alcohol infused caps on all central line that are not currently infusing is best practice back by evidence based practice to significantly decrease infection rates. This project as helped me identify evidence based practice and incorporate these practice in our daily care to help improve patient outcomes. The first couple of days there was not any patients within the intensive care unit with central line.
Reflective practice is constantly changing as it adds in the learning gained from experiences. Reflective practice links events together and compares what is already known and make a decisions on the basis of this comparison. Reflective practice helps nurses to become expert practitioners due to the fact it operates from a deep understanding of the total events. Reflective practice could also be beneficial for patients and service users as it gives better standards of patient safety and is focused on individual and also evidence based care derived from their needs.
We need to identify the barriers to inclusive recruiting, interviewing, and hiring. Our recruiting effort will start with our website, radio and television commercials, newspaper, job fairs, and community events. We will also ask our current employees, who may have experienced bias and cultural misunderstanding in the past, what are diverse applicants looking for in a job and employer and what actions might cause us to lose a qualified diverse applicant Once we have recruited some applicants our interviewing team needs to have an understanding of diversity and cultural competencies for interviewing and hiring. The manner in which people are hired, in a way, constitutes their first impression of the organization, and can contribute to how they feel about it over the long term, and to how good a job they do. We want the best our community has and our hiring guidelines will reflect
In carrying out this reflection of the author’s key skills Kolb’s (1984) Reflective Learning Cycle theory (see Figure 1), Belbin’s (1981) Team Role’s Theory and Gibb’s (1998) Reflective Cycle (see Figure 2) was used. It is important to note that while these theorist’s frameworks were used to inform, the reflective process narrative consideration is more implicit than explicit.
I find reflective practice useful both personally and professionally. When I step back, observe and reflect helps me become more self-aware and understand my own and others’ emotions. I would be able to see things from different angles. When working with families, it will help to learn how to empathize and develop a better understanding of other people. I learn to better communicate through a better understanding of behavior which will help me build better relationships with families. To support children's continuous learning, I begin to ponder and question about children’s engagement in learning and what/how we can do to improve our teaching methods to meet the needs of all the children. In the see/think/wonder thinking has changed the way
Within the field of education there is a range of methods and practices which have been implemented by professionals, in order to improve the provision for learners. Some of the methods adopted may be due to government legislation. An example of this is the National Curriculum. It was introduced to establish a consistent approach to the teaching of all children, in maintained schools. It gives guidance on what should be taught for particular age groups and a set of level descriptors are also included to assess children by. Other practices are developed, within a school context, to address particular areas in need of improvement. Evidence Based Practice (EBP) and Reflective Practice are two methods, used by teachers, to enhance the teaching
Each clinical day, I am constantly thinking about what is evidence based; what have I learned for lecture. To be honest, I never thought I would be thinking so much about evidence based practice, but I feel it’s essential that each and every single one of my patients gets the best possible care that they deserve. Some ways that I’ve incorporated EVP into my clinical is having discussions with employees about the correct needle length size, observing employees do certain procedure and reflect back, as well as, if I see something that doesn’t seem right, I’ll ask the nurse a question. For example, the nurse and I were doing a postpartum assessment and I noticed when the nurse was assessing the patient’s lochia, that she didn’t have the patient turn to see if any blood was pooled under her.
A review of the literature to critically explore the value and purpose of reflective practice.
The importance of understanding cultural, ethnic and gender differences by managers and professionals in a business setting is essential to make the work environment comfortable. In every culture there are basic standards of thinking, and acting and these cultural differences strongly influence workplace values and communication. What may be considered acceptable and natural in the workplace for one person may be unacceptable for another person. People from diverse cultures bring new ways of thinking, creativity and language skills needed to survive in today’s work force. In many
This essay will review the literature to critically explore the value and purpose of reflective practice.
Today's workforce is undoubtedly varied. Creating an environment that is acceptable and optimum for performing is what you want in the business environment. This will reduce the chances that an employee will feel under-valued, which can ultimately affect absenteeism rates and employee turnover. More diverse companies produce better results. Companies that respect and support individual employees ethnicity, age, gender, skills, and abilities provide for an all-inclusive atmosphere that allows employees to feel comfortable. Understanding cultural mannerisms, linking them to there abilities and not taking there age and gender to heart may help the judgement of candidates for their job skills, not their interview skills.
