Refugee Crisis Middle Eastern citizens are in the midst of the horror of the Syrian Civil War. Families are caught in the middle of the Assad Regime (causing the most deaths), Government militias, Russian Airstrikes, ISIS, anti-ISIS, and armed opposition groups. These groups have broken families apart, left cities destroyed and over 80,000 people dead. As a result, over 4 million people continue to flee the area to attempt to enter safer countries as refugees. Citizens are trapped in their homes for weeks at a time due to the violence that encases their home towns. Mostly due to the Regime, citizens are being killed, taken away from their families, recruited, or destroyed along with their cities. These people hope to find safety in various countries. The people that manage to escape face many hardships, which includes the long trip ahead, being caught by the Regime, and being admitted into the country. Lots of refugees are in need of food, water and medical assistance as they attempt to conquer the journey to a new and safe life. Those who aren 't caught trying to escape and make to a surrounding country face the challenge of being accepted as refugee. They must be granted refugee statuses and visas in order to work, live and not be acceptable for arrest. Financial support is limited and trying to find work is difficult for refugees. The reason is, we, the United States, have no way of background checking the refugees that come into our country. They can be scanned the
The article Fleeing Terror, Finding Refuge by Paul Salopek; reflects more on Salopek interviewing or meeting people who are refugees and what has happened while fleeing from Syria. In Turkey, Syrian, Salopek mentions how the refugees are escaping from the Islamic State, whom are destroying cities and killing innocent people. Refugees would leave in cars, delivery vans, or even pickup trucks so they can get to the border, but when arriving to the border Turks would not allow certain vehicles to pass so they would take them away
Refugees started because of war and economic problems in their countries that force them out of their homes, and rob their children of having an educated life. Refugees tend to stay in refugee camps, but while staying in camps, they don’t have any job opportunities which makes it extremely hard to care for a family with zero income. In order to leave the camps for jobs, an education, and housing, their relatives have to get them and bring them to their country. All refugees that would like to leave the camp must have a visa.
The Refugee crisis across Europe and beyond is among the most complex topics in the world right now. Most of the refugees are coming from Syria, but why? Why can’t they just stay at home? Within the last 5 years there has been a mass exodus of civilians in Syria; other countries have experienced very similar scenarios with civilians leaving. With so many are leaving, it is quite difficult for refugees to find safe places to stay. About 6 years ago Syria was among the most stable countries in the Middle East (though ruled by what can be described as a dictator). However, civil war and economic problems have severely affected them. Their President Bashar Al-Assad has made many extremely controversial decisions. Two causes of the Syrian
Syria’s civil war is the worst humanitarian crisis of modern time. The “Syrian Civil war Began in March of 2011, between rebel brigades and government force; economy and infrastructure is destroyed” (Library, 2016). “Divisions between secular and religious fighters, and between ethnic groups, continue to complicate the politics of the conflict” (Corps, 2016). Additionally, the Syrian civil war has taken a significant
These people cannot go back home because they fear something bad is going to happen again, their only choice is to flee to another country and start a new life, but not many countries let most refugees in due to their religion or race, and the United States is one of them. For example, in the many articles that I have read in my English Humanity class, there's an article from Donald Trump, where he says: “We cannot let them into this country, period. Our country has tremendous problems. We can’t have another problem.” And this is one of our candidates running for president talking about the refugees in this type of way, saying that they will cause more problems, due to the fact that they are dangerous. But not every refugee is dangerous, especially the ones that come from Syria at this time due to the Syrian war. Some just tend to be traumatized and exposed to violence and war, and all they learn is to fight back and take care of themselves, and in a document I read coming from the book Outcasts United by Warren St. John, it says that a mentally disturbed Sudanese man, beheaded his five year old nephew with a butcher knife, and family members say that this act was due to the fact that he had
Imagine this. You’re rapidly fleeing your home country, sprinting as your life depended on it, which it did. The memories of the terrible war, still pounding in your head. The piercing roar of the gunshots. The gruesome red blood, glistening in the sunlight. You need to go, go to a free country, a land where everything is safe and sound, and not demolished like your home. You need to go, you need to leave Syria.
After migration when they reach a safe country they do not know how to react. Many refugees suffer from depression and PTSD from witnessing the loss of their leaders or loved ones and even from witnessing mass killings, causing them to be distant and not make any effort to get help. They do not understand involvement in their community when they have reached a safe location. The refugee groups stay together and do not against each other fearing one will or could be killed. At refugee camps, many make the camp a big family from hearing and understanding other victims stories, creating bonds.
The reason behind Syrians fleeing their home country is to get away from the absolute violence, Syrian civil war has caused, the collapsing infrastructure of the country, and to keep children safe. The outbreak of a civil war in March 2011 caused 9 million Syrians to leave since then (“Syrian Refugees: A Snapshot of the Crisis – in the Middle East and Europe” 1). The Syrian Civil War has left more than two-hundred forty thousand people dead, including twelve thousand children.
The rest of your family died because they got shot during the war. You and the remains of your family decide it is time to flee your country. You get someone from the bordering country to smuggle you out. You get to the bordering country, but you have to hide there because you and the other refugees their didn’t get permission from the government. You then take many buses, boats, and your two feet to get to another country.
Due to the recent crises caused by the conflict in Syria, more than four million refugees have fled that region of the
Most would try to escape the violence, for they couldn’t survive in their own country for the hatred that was spawned upon them. For instance, in the article “Migrant Crisis” in which they state, “Syria’s violent civil war, which is tearing that nation apart, is responsible for a sizeable portion of the migrant crisis. Since the fighting began in 2011, more than 250,000 people have been killed.” The refugees’ lives are turned “inside out” because of the war. The devastating and violent war painted an uncomfortable and frightening picture of their hometown, forcing them to leave home and to seek a refugee camp with other refugees. Another example of how refugees’ lives are turned “inside out” is stated in the article, “Refugees: Who, Where and Why”: “They began an ‘ethnic cleansing’ campaign, which killed thousands of innocent men, women, and children, and forced hundreds of people to seek refuge in neighboring countries.” This shows that innocent refugees who just wanted to live a peaceful life were forced to leave home, and if not, were killed. This warned the refugees to leave as quickly as they could so they wouldn’t be assassinated like their acquaintances. As time goes on and as
The people were struggling through their everyday life, however suffering became their new lifestyle. Similar to the main characters in The Kite Runner, most refugees immigrate to countries
Let’s start by defining what it is to be a refugee. A refugee is any citizen of a nation who is forced to flee due to persecution or unsafe living conditions.
People are coming into our country because they are in danger from war in there country, right away you would think that it is good to let them in because we are all safe, you would think were all safe at least, but i'm showing that refugees shouldn't be allowed in because they could be terrorist, they could and are bringing in illnesses, and camps are expensive and they cost you. This refugee crisis is so significant because it is happening right now and it is affecting people all around the world and it could so dangerous that if they came to our country and they were near you it could be very dangerous.
This issue was chosen due to its scope. The Syrian refugee crisis is among a list of issues that will not only shape the world in 2016 but also dominate news outlets in upcoming years. Because of the despairing situation, many governments are struggling to find ways to handle the rush of individuals seeking asylum, for the fact that it seems the crisis is worsening. In addition, the media coverage on the topic sparked my interest and led me to research information because I had no idea what was occurring and the detriment of the issue.
