Careers aren’t about making money; iIt’s about doing something that you love and wanting to be at work everyday- that’s why I want to be a Registered Nurse or a Veterinarian because I love helping people and/or animals. Helping people and animals everyday would be something different and fun at the same time; I would be able to get the chance to save people, take care of people, and even help animals that are wounded or sick. Some of the things i’m going to be talking about with both careers are; Job Outlooks, Skills Necessary, Schooling, Salary, and the Work Environment that these jobs have. A registered nurse does a lot of different things to help people out and take the best care of them. They record medical histories and symptoms, observe …show more content…
In a way, veterinarians are very similar but instead of doing it with human patients, they do it with animals. Vet’s examine animals, treat wounds, perform surgeries, and operate medical equipment for animals. Jobs for vet’s are expected to grow 9%, meaning that 12,900 jobs will be gained in the in coming years. There are five different types of veterinarians; 1. Companion animal veterinarian, 2. Equine veterinarian, 3. Food animal veterinarian, 4. Food safety and inspection veterinarian, and 5. Research veterinarians. There are many different types of vet’s but all of the vet’s have different jobs to do during their shifts, but all have to work together to know what’s going on with each area. A companion animal veterinarian treats pets and generally works in private clinics and hospitals. They usually just care for cats and dogs but can also treat other pets such as birds, ferrets, and rabbits. These vets diagnose and provide treatments,
Have you ever wondered what to do when your animal is sick? As well who take it to? Local Veterinarian Technicians are willing to assist both you and your animals. “If we wanted to go into it for the money we’d have become human doctors” (Oscar Chavez, DVM). A Vet Technician is an assistant to the the head vet. They will take blood test samples, give first aid and nursing to the animals. Help the doctors during a surgery. For example, delivering puppies in a c-section, the assistants will take the puppies and go clean them off.
A lot of the work performed by vets are treatment of the animals. So if they are sick, they will give them a checkup, test blood and maybe even do and x-ray. They also give advice to owners about breeding and care taking of the animal. Some vets may specialize in the care and treatment of either large or small animals. Small-animal vets will deal mostly with household pets, such as dogs, cats, birds, rodents, and reptiles. Usually they will work in cities and the owners have to bring their animals to them in their clinics.
When most people think of a veterinarian, the first thing that comes to mind is the ones that treats your cats and dogs. Obviously there are ones who do that and those are called companion animal veterinarians, but there are also equine veterinarians, food animal veterinarians, food safety and inspection veterinarians and, research veterinarians to name a few ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Veterinarian can also work in the Veterinary Corps for the United States Army ("Field Veterinary Service Jobs”).
There are many kinds of veterinarians. There are vets that specialize in common house pets like, cats and dogs, vets that take care of exotic creatures like, lizards and snakes, and vets that treat large animals like, horses and cows. For my future career I chose a large animal veterinarian. A large animal veterinarian can treat animals from the zoo to the farm. They mainly work with horses and cattle but they know how to treat other animals. A large animal vet needs to know several types of math and how to use each type in their daily work.
After persuing your career as a Registered Nurse, dramatic changes will be very noticable in your life. Being in the career path as such, can bring on a healthier, yet less stressful lifestyle. Becoming a Registered Nurse would be a life changer. Some ways becoming a Registered Nurse would impact my life are the good pay and benfits, having the ability to save others lives, and also being able to motivate younger kids and teenagers to persue their dream in becoming a RN.
Three careers to look into are: veterinarian, veterinarian technologist/technician or a veterinary assistant. This paper will tell you important facts of these three areas. These careers are different but all of them are similar in the fact that the take care of animals. The first career you are going to learn about is a veterinarian.
Veterinarians have various tasks that they must do in their job. The first task is that they care for and treat sick or injured animals (Veterinarian). They also inform owners of what is needed for their pet to keep them as healthy as they
“No owner wants a pet to suffer because medical care is out of reach.”(Humane Society, 2014) As a veterinary technician (vet techs) we take are job very seriously. The best ways to ensure the wellbeing of all the animals that vet techs care for they must learn all the duties at the animal hospital. A vet tech working in a veterinarian hospital has five main areas of focus that include laboratory, surgical, office management, customer service and reception, examination and treatment.
Veterinarians are people who examine animals, perform surgery on animals, and treat and address animals wound. They prescribe medication, diagnose, and treat animal’s medical conditions. They vaccinate against diseases and operate medical equipment (“Veterinarians”. U.S.). Vets inspect a wild range of animals. Some specialize in particular species such as horses or birds. If an animal dies, they have to determine the cause of death (“Veterinarians” Career).
The main role of a veterinarian is to care for animals, whether that be in a clinic, in a zoo, on a farm, or in the wild. However, five percent of veterinarians have positions in the government, social advocacy groups, or educational services (CollegeGrad). The other ninety-five percent of the veterinary community find themselves in the hands-on area of the field. The responsibility of the majority of veterinarians is to diagnose and treat animals.
There are many benefits of being a nurse. You work in the medical field so you’d easily be able to get good insurance through your job for you and your family. Being a nurse you’ll experience so many different work environments as in a hospital,
There are many duties of being a veterinarian. Vets treat sick and injured animals. They also euthanize very old or sick animals. This way, animals can die in a relatively pain-free way. Preventive medical care is provied. They vaccinate and provide check-ups to make sure animals stay healthy. Vets give owners advice about animal care and breeding. Like doctors, vets may focus on a one area of medicine. Before becoming a veterinarian, a specific education is needed (“Veterinarian”).
Many veterinarians are specialized in the treatment of a specific group of animals. The main types of veterinarians are small animals veterinarians, large animals veterinarians, marine veterinarians, wildlife veterinarians, and equine veterinarians. But all veterinarians have the same goal; to treat as many veterinarians as they are able to. A veterinarian is not a routine job. Each day is different and the unexpected can happen unexpectedly each and every day (“Veterinarians”).
Veterinarians provide medical services for animals that are big and small. Helping sick animals weather they are big or small. They provide medicine for house pets and farm animals. When owners take there pet to the vet they are looking for someone to provide information to them about their animal. Some of the information given to the own is about how to properly care for your animal to make sure it grows the right why. Veterinarians are there to help animals no matter the size.
To me personally and RN looks like a very appealing job because of the relationship that is build uo with the patients and how you are there for your patients in the good and bad days. Having had the experience at the different sites that i shadowed in the people I mostly shadowed where RN. At the sites I got to see how they interact with their patients and how friendly the work environment was. The rest of the careers look nice but as an RN you know you will always be depended on and you could help someone both inside and outside your
