Cultural and Religion Impacts on Our Food Choices
EQ/Driving Question: How does Culture and religion impact on our food choices? Well, according to all of us food is one of the most important things for us to survive in the real world. We rely on food for almost everything, and don't have questions on why we consume it because it has always been there for us and has never done us wrong. We eat what we like and grow to love it due to our parents, and maybe we are even influenced by our society and cultural. The food we eat also represents the type of cultural background that we come from. Which also affects how much we eat depending on what we do in our own home and the routine that we have kept over the years. We have always been influenced

We had that mind set where we believed that the killing of animals was the only way to survive and we wouldn't be able to live on without it. This caused a big solution to hunger and people all had different thoughts on how we would keep it going and what was allowed to be eaten back then to now. People all around the world had different ways of getting the food we ate. People ended up creating gods/spiritual beings to allow them to have food forever because they believed that was what caused them to be able to have a ton of food given to them. For example, some people such as the Mayans or the Aztecs had to make sacrifices in order to receive food from the heavens, because if they didn't they believed that the gods would be mad and not provide them with animals to be eaten. Then others around the world made a different interpretation of the kinds of food we ate and had different ideas on how we allowed it to be part of our daily life. No food in the whole entire world is alike today due to the different backgrounds we come from and the geographical area we are living in. We all have different tastes in our food even though they are similar, and the smells might be the same, but they are totally …show more content…
My parents are from Veracruz and thats the type of culture background they have they are catholic and have different types of seasoning and different views on the type of food that we eat. People have a different type of way they make their food regardless if they want it all natural or made by a company and just put it in to the oven people do that when they don't have time to actually cook food and make that an excuse. Some people are against that and want their kids and family members to have an all natural food setting and the best of health for them. Mexican food today to people is considered to be very spicy and a unique use of flavoring plus having to do with different types of meat and corn tortillas according to Americans. Also such as the african parts of the world people don't have many resources due to what people say. But they have limited resources due to the types land and climate they have they don't have ,any choices to go off of. We need to have atleast a sense of mind to find what we
Food is essential for life, our dietary intake is influenced by many different factors this includes:
It is a known fact that every human being communicates through language, but perhaps a little known fact that we communicate even through the food we eat. We communicate through food all the meanings that we assign and attribute to our culture, and consequently to our identity as well. Food is not only nourishment for our bodies, but a symbol of where we come from. In order to understand the basic function of food as a necessity not only for our survival, we must look to politics, power, identity, and culture.
This essay is going to describe how the society has an influence on food choice. Food is very important to the human body since it has the right nutrients for a balanced diet in order to enable good health and growth. However people depend on food, as people need food throughout, for the body to constantly work. However this essay is going to explore how food choice has influenced the internal and external factors that may actually have a little to do with the food itself, and in order to give a clear concept this essay will therefore explore the social factors of what one has to eat.
Food is one thing that has been around for many years, because people need it in order to survive. Over time it has caused a big change in the way Americans eat contributing to many other factors such as time and money. For instance, my mother has been trying to lose weight for many years, and she has tried many diets seen on television and diets friends have told her about. All the programs she has tried have not worked out for her, well trying these diets she has lost time and money. The amount of money to join
The food is important because the food is laughed at because of its name. This is a physical need because the character was hungry and she needed to eat. Second reason for eating that is shown in the movie is a social need. A social need includes celebrations, gathering, customs, or special occasions.
Mexican culture dates far back as the 13th century. This is when the Aztecs were prevalent in northern mexico. Aztecs were a people who were all about war and honor. They made many enemies going to war with smaller tribes and brutally killed their enemies. In the 16th century the Aztecs Empire crumbled due to the invasion led by Hernan Cortez. Disease, superior weapons, and aid of the Aztec’s enemies were all contributing factors to the Aztecs downfall. Fast forward September 16th 1810 when Mexico gained its independence from Spain Mexico's identity started to develop. Mexican culture is defined by many things, its food, its language, its clothing, its art. However, There is one aspect that defines Mexican culture and that is family life. Mexicans have a very rich family life that defines the culture. The way that family is organized and the way each member acts can be traced back to the very beginning. It's a mixture of the indigenous peoples culture as well as the Spaniards culture. The indigenous peoples pass on their ideas of honor and machismo and the Spaniards pass on their ideas of catholicism, and family value and structure. I fit into this because I grew up on these ideas and my family still practices some of these ideas today.
In American culture, we typically center our food choices around american options such as burgers, fries, chicken fried steaks, and chicken tenders. However, I decided to seek out a food from a culture that differs than my American background. I sought out a restaurant that served and Indian cuisine and one that I wouldn’t usually try. I decided Indian for the reason that I love spice in food and the spice that the Indian culture uses in their food should really compliment the food. The restaurant that I found was called Taco Naan, which combines cultures and serves food that cater to Mexican and Indian cultures.
My parents have always introduced me to all types of food. The type of food I eat is one of the ways that I feel closely ties me to the mexican side of my culture. Mexican food is my favorite. I love how spicy it can be. One tradition
Hispanic Americans have a strong tie to their culture and display it in their cuisine. Rice and beans are staples to la familia, together they provide a complete protein, and are inexpensive. Spicy peppers and hot sauce provide antibacterial and digestive health qualities that were imperative to provide healthy meals in Mexico because the water supply isn’t guaranteed to be safe for drinking. Historically, many tomato products were introduced to the United States by Mexico, including burritos, tacos, other Mexican cuisine and even ketchup (Sowell, 1981).
Not many people take the time to make an actual meal anymore and it’s mind-blowing. In addition, the way we think also affects the way we eat. Nevertheless, our morals affect how and what we eat.
Another food we make is ensalada rosa. Which literally translates to pink salad. Really its just potatoes, carrots, peas and Mexican mayonnaise combined. This food is not spicy at all. Therefore my culture has a mix of Mexican and American food.
Food, has a specific meaning to all of us; for some it is a form of nourishment, for others it is a cultural act,
Food is an integral part of human culture, from the macro or societal level down to the micro level of individuals and families. The way humans choose, prepare, and eat food is often deeply influenced not only by personal taste but also by cultural background. When two individuals begin a romantic relationship, they often have to learn how to combine two different food cultures into one cohesive unit. Couples who have food preferences that are vastly different may have much more trouble reaching a compromise that leaves both of them happy with their diet, especially if one or both partners is unwilling to try new foods. I hypothesize that couples who share similar food preferences will experience greater relationship satisfaction. Additionally, individuals who are open minded about trying different types of food may be less likely to experience food conflict and associated decreases in relationship satisfaction, whereas those who are neophobic will likely experience more conflict. Determining the role that similarity in food preferences plays in relationship satisfaction will help us tease apart larger questions about how relationships, families, and health are affected by diet and food culture.
Food is the one thing that we cannot live without. Even for those who have developed the discipline to fast for a specified period, eventually, they must start eating again. We love our food to the point that recorded in history as being the first sin. Food is something we all enjoy, and sometimes it shows. Most of the human race eats three to four meals a day, and the selection of those foods are not a part of the recommended daily allowances. I will share my favorite foods, my least favorite foods, and the reason I eat the way that I do and what foods I will incorporate for a balance diet.
These cultures developed over time into a global system of countries and governments. The distribution of food, and for that matter wealth, has followed those countries that developed indutrial techniques fueled by the global economy. As we became ever more efficient at producing food with the domestication of animals and development of horticulture the human population grew to meet the supply. However the fact that humans have been able to produce massive amounts of food does not mean that everyone on the planet is living healthy and well fed lives. The distribution of food has been controlled by the global economy and interaction of the governments and countries. The control of the global economy has lead to the relative prosperity of a few people, while the general population has seen a gradual increase. But there are still people that live malnurished and poor lives. In fact the largest population growth is seen in the less developed countries(Soutwick, 161), which means that the number of people living below the average standard of living is increasing. This poses the question of how we want to distribute the resources of our planet, or how we can. Do we want to have a smaller population that all lives well, or a larger population with people that don't all live comfortably? and how is it possible to reach that goal? These questions are too
