The country of Italy is known in history for a number of different reasons. Incredible architecture, outstanding scenery, and the most important they’re wonderful food. When looking at the Italian culture of food, the most wonderful thing to see is how it is passed down from generation to generation. The recipes of an Italian family is like the glue that holds that family together. It brings about the greatest bonds between a family. To an Italian family it is imperative that their recipes live on for decades. The richness of the food and wine is what Italy’s reputation is known for. Usually most dishes have many main ingredients in their meals, Italians are different their chef focus on two main ingredients at most four. There chefs rely on the quality of their ingredients rather than performing and elaborate preparations. The preparations and the flavors used during the Medieval time were carried over to the Renaissance. This time period developed the use of olive oil in our food dishes. They used the oil to help enhance the flavor of their food. This aspect changed Italian food for the better. The author states that the Renaissance people loved to use spices as well as using sugar to help flavor their dishes. To them it is very important that the family gets together prepares and eats food together. This usually takes place on Sundays in Italian households. If you know and true Italian families they will tell you wear your stretchy pants on Sunday because Grandma is always cooking. They love to me able to sit down over a fresh meal and make conversation with the family. Starting from a young age Italian grandparents teach the young children how the kitchen operates. They give them small tasks but over time they become more imperative roles in the kitchen. If you were a fly on the wall during a Sunday Italian dinner you will see that the Grandmother is always up cooking, she never usually sits down to feed herself. The use of pots and pans on stoves is a traditional cooking method in Italy. Other cooking methods used include baking, grilling, frying, stewing and boiling. In traditional Italian cookery microwaves were not used, thats changed. We have also adapted the pizza by adding toppings such as pineapple and meats.

The High Renaissance in Italy, although short lived, was extremely important on the influences of future Italian art. During the High Renaissance the main focus on Florence, for the arts, shifted to Rome due to the power and wealth from the popes. Because of the move from Florence to Rome, the two most important factors of this time, Classicism and Christianity, were merged into one. “Italian ideas were also brought northward through trade and commerce into Europe, where they had a tremendous amount of influence on the artistic traditions there as well” (Benton & DiYanni, 2008).
Food and Drinks Research Paper During the Renaissance time periods the people ate and drank a wide variety of foods and beverages. The food they ate ranged from if they were rich or poor like expensive meats that mostly the nobles and merchants ate and the peasants ate mush or manchet. The drinks also varied from the amount of money you had because the wealthy drank beer, ale, or wine and the poor drank water that was unfiltered and very dirty. The Renaissance was a time of transformed thought and idea. Italy during this time was at the center. With this “rebirth,” Italian artists looked to ancient Greek and Roman art for inspiration. This inspiration brought a renewed love for the body.
The change in 1522 was the start point in the growth of pizza and what allowed it to become a global food. However, pizza was not well known because the dish was recently developed and did not had time to gain popularity with the locals in Naples yet. Only until the 17th century did pizza achieved a local popularity among visitors to Naples who would went into the poorer sections to taste the dish made by men called "pizzaioli." Pizza started to gain more popularity, but was not at the level where it was countrywide because no major figures had took notice of the new dish to promote it. Pizza managed to be acknowledge by the people of Naples and pizza was sold in the streets in Naples at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The popularity got to the point where stalls were set up where the customers could custom order their pizza to suit what they wanted. The stalls soon developed into the pizzeria where people can come together to eat, drink, talk, and soon become a common sight in Naples.
