Shakespeare’s plays continued to be popular for more than 400 years. He is one of the best writers of all time. Most of his plays like Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Othello and many others still inspire other people. His plays show so much passion which that makes it another reason why people still enjoy reading them and watching his plays. His first play was Henry VI and was written in 1590, which it marked the beginning to a new era of poetry, plays, and novels. .All of his plays are well known in every country of the world making him one of most popular writers in history. Even after so much time there is people that changes or we can say interprets the plays a little different but it all started with Shakespeare’s originals
Serious and intense skepticism began in the 19th century when adoration for Shakespeare was at its highest. The most notable taking place about 150 years after his death. This is when questions rose about the authorship of William Shakespeare's plays. Scholars and historians have debated this topic. The real question is: “How could Shakespeare write with such profound skills in English and Writing when he did not finish school?” (Hechinger, “Did Shakespeare Really Write His Plays? A Few Theories Examined.”). Many claim Shakespeare wasn’t intelligent enough to write his plays. His plays contain a deep knowledge of English novels, yet Shakespeare did not have a university education. Whatever the truth may be, it is undeniable that whoever wrote the plays has immense
William Shakespeare is considered the greatest playwright of all time. His gift for developing characters is one major aspect that accounts for this lofty acknowledgement. Shakespeare created various characters from drunks and fools to kings and generals. The characters are so human and so real that the audience can see aspects of their own personalities represented on stage for better or worse. Inadvertently, Shakespeare's ability to characterize any type of person demonstrates his holistic education and knowledge of everything from military strategy and open sea sailing to music and religion. As a result of Shakespeare's true-to-life
Others also say that there was little evidence left behind about his childhood and later his career as a playwright and poet in London (Goode 9-10). Many scholars that studied Shakespeare?s plays found evidence that whoever wrote the plays must have been the best educated man of his time with knowledge on horsemanship, biology, falconry, astronomy, law, botany, several languages like Italian, French, and Latin, and many other subjects that a common man without much formal education would not poses (Lardner 7).
The large body of work attributed to William Shakespeare shows education, experience, creativity, and wisdom far beyond what many people are willing to accept came from a single author. Due to the scarcity of facts surrounding Shakespeare’s life, speculation arouse about whether or not he actually wrote his works became more common. In the mid-1800s ideas about other authors were brought forward. However, these theories have little sustenance, and it is likely that the entire body of work attributed to Shakespeare in fact belonged to Shakespeare himself.
At first I didn’t think it was possible for him to write all of those plays. After I did my research, I learned that playwrights would put other playwrights’ names on their plays so they would sell. This allowed me to see that it wasn’t Shakespeare’s fault that he was claiming these many plays. They also would put his name on it to pay tribute to him. I learned that Shakespeare did indeed, have a respectable education, despite what anti-stratfordians say. The education that Shakespeare received from his grammar school was a big help, but it was his immense amount of reading that mainly contributed to the writing of the plays. Shakespeare really understood everything about how plays worked, whether it be picking the right actors or making small cramped stages work. Even though he was a commoner who wrote about nobles and royalty, he was exposed to them in such a way that he was able to create entire plays based on the upper class lifestyle. But the opposing side thinks Edward de Vere was the true Bard. But since he died in 1604, and Shakespeare’s big plays were produced after Vere’s death, it leads me to believe de Vere is not the true Bard. Lots of famous and respectable people would disagree with me and claim that Shakespeare isn’t the true Bard. However, the majority of potential evidence points towards Shakespeare being the true Bard. There are too many speculations, conspiracies, and opinions for it to be
He focused on writing about the daily problems he was faced with during his time. Since teaching Shakespeare is in our curriculum we get the sense of his writings and what was going on during his times. “Yet his prose, plots and characters are as alive today as they were when the plays were originally staged during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.” (Source C) Every high school students just wants to graduate and could care less about what they must read for their English class.
From his tragic story of Hamlet to the romantic comedy The Tempest, William Shakespeare has been capturing his audience since he started writing in the late 1500's. When Shakespeare first started writing in 1590, he began writing plays, both tragedies and comedies, then he wrote poetry called sonnets. It is said that he last thing he wrote was finished in 1613, because as people suggest, that was when he lost his sight. He died three years later in 1616. He is known around the globe for his writing style and unique plots. His plays are studied in high schools and colleges around the world. Shakespeare has made history with his literature. During the Renaissance, Shakespeare wrote in three different genres, comedy, tragedy, and poetry.
Shakespeare would have learned more Latin in school, however the masters let them they would
His genre-bending work contributed to brand-new experiences of both storytelling and theater.” (Octane). This quote from Source B exemplifies how Shakespeare put forward a new type of storytelling and creativity, as well as telling all types of stories in various ways. He would have one fascinating journey in a comedic story, while in another a character would be so relatable and connectable to the audience, yet the story is on the lines of a tragedy. He took genres and expanded on them with his mind; his creativity.
William Shakespeare had a very intersting life.William Shakespeare ended up to be a world known playwright and poet, most people would consider this a success and conclude that Shakepeare had a good life. While this may seem the case, shakespeare had a lot of hardship just like many other people. Shakespeare channeled this hardship and woe into plays and poems. He also channeled his delight, and humor, and every other emotion and experience into his writing, this is how he could make all the different types of plays come to life. William Shakespeare's life experiences are what made his reputation what it is today. Shakespeare's childhood, family and acting carear all had big influences on his writing.
One common argument is that William Shakespeare was not a noble in his time, but rather a commoner. As a result, many “anti-Stratfordians base their argument on the impossibility of “the man from Stratford” writing the plays due to his lack of education, his anonymity and his supposed limited knowledge of the law, the battlefield, and the court” (Wheeler). The knowledge of the life of Shakespeare displayed in many of his biographies are sparse and poorly documented. Simply put, Shakespeare was simply not “important” to his immediate history, so little remains (“Shakespeare 101: A Summary of the Doubts”). As a result, many of the theorized authors of the plays were, in fact, written by well-educated and wealthy
Some people believe that Shakespeare did not do his work alone. Theories are that he was connected to royalty and that royalty helped him. Many of his work takes place in Italy. He actually never went to Italy. He vividly explains the environment of Italy. How can Shakespeare do this if he never went to Italy? How can he be a genius if he did not receive education, and his father and mother did not know how to write or read? Many people think Shakespeare did not work hard for his
