How Has Shakespeare Impacted Society

Shakespeare has impacted the lives of people throughout the times. He is a writer known for focusing on love, tragedy, history, and comedy. Shakespeare is someone who has formed our society into the thing that it is today. He has shown us the hardships, battles of love, etc. all from his writing. We all now think, “What is the point of teaching Shakespeare anymore?” He uses themes that are still relevant to today and can impact the kids that are reading his writing. Many people feel greatly impacted by his writings and feel as if they have changed them for the better.
Shakespeare impacts people in a way they never knew would. His writings have changed people for the better. One place where it has really impacted people, is in prison. They never knew that they’d be going down this dark path but having Shakespeare there, it helped them get through it and see the real them. Some of these people in prison don’t know when they’re going to see the place they left behind based on the decision they made. “He got involved in a Shakespeare-in-prison program that changed the course of his life.” (Source D) Having this course at the prison opened Mr. …show more content…

He focused on writing about the daily problems he was faced with during his time. Since teaching Shakespeare is in our curriculum we get the sense of his writings and what was going on during his times. “Yet his prose, plots and characters are as alive today as they were when the plays were originally staged during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.” (Source C) Every high school students just wants to graduate and could care less about what they must read for their English class. But they’re missing the point. Shakespeare’s writings are something that we may not want to read but once we do read them, our minds become open and we now understand why we’re reading
