Should child soldiers be given amnesty? This controversial question has been on individuals’ minds for a long time. But these poor children are victims of the wars and battles they have been forced to fight in. These poor children should be given amnesty, but only if they are mentally and physically ready for it. Some people believe that these children shouldn’t be given amnesty or legal forgiveness. One reason they may feel this way is because these children have most likely killed many U.S. soldiers. According to “The Child Soldier on Trial at Guantanamo” By Andrea Prasow it states that Omar Khadr, a former child soldier, who mortally injured a U.S. army Sergeant and while also injured the other soldiers with him, by the use of a grenade. Which also breaks a law of war ,the combatant, …show more content…
These children have been injured by either weapons or the fact that they killed a person. These children have been injured greatly take Omar Khadr when he did kill that Surgent he got shot in the chest twice and he got blinded in one eye. Also some of these kids are mentally scarred by the fact they killed all those people and felt no remorse until they realized it. These poor children have been forced to take a lot of drugs and alcohol so they need to heal all the physical and mental dependence of the drug. Also their families are gone, dead, or have decided to sell these kids. These children have lost their families or were abandoned so they should be healed. Should child soldiers be given amnesty? These children should be given amnesty if they are mentally and physically ready. Though some people may think they shouldn’t but they should for all reasons stated before. But there is something to know as a human race we have been forcing people to join and fight wars. Some examples are South Korea, North Korea, and France around the late
Child soldiers should be given amnesty because they were forced into having to go to war and if they refused to then they were either shot or killed. They were drugged if they said yes so then they will actually go out into war and fight. These kids knew what they were doing but at the same time they did know what they were doing and they couldn't resist it because they would be shot or most likely killed. So think about it if you were in charge of a country with child soldiers asking for amnesty would you give the child soldiers
To begin with, child soldiers deserve amnesty because they don’t choose or are manipulated into becoming a child soldier. When children are put into a war most of the time they don’t have a choice or are manipulated into thinking what they are doing is okay. One
At a young age it’s difficult to grasp the concept of death, but as time passes, the youth turn into the old and the old turn into the deceased. Whether people like it or not, death plays a role in their lives and it’s something no one can escape. Child soldiers are forced to kill, and if they don’t then they too are killed. Young children are trained into fierce warriors every day, and stopping this action has proven to be difficult. It can be argued from a recruiter that brings in children that children are disposable, easy to train, and almost infinite. Most of these kids never receive a chance to do what they want in life, furthermore it seems like children, especially in Africa, are being picked off the streets they’re grapes on a grapevine. The International Justice System appeals to cases like this everyday, as it can be a struggle to understand if a child is truly remorseful, and if they deserve amnesty. Children who are forced into crime should be given a chance to redeem themselves, as they generally have no intention to cause harm.
Child soldiers do deserve amnesty, as long as they go through therapy and mental rehabilitation. Child soldiers are often forcibly recruited, so most of them don’t want to hurt or kill. Although some say child soldiers don’t deserve amnesty, most of the child soldiers don’t want to kill or harm others. And although some child soldiers want to hurt and/or kill others, all child soldiers deserve amnesty because they are just kids; so they should have therapy or mental rehabilitation before total forgiveness, so in all, all child soldiers deserve amnesty somehow.
Around the globe, in the past and present, children are being recruited to fight as soldiers in wars sometimes as young as 5 and up until they are 18 or older. These children soldiers should not be given amnesty because giving them amnesty could give others encouragement to keep using them, everyone has the same rights which means everyone has the same consequences, and some child soldiers have committed the most violent and harsh acts in wartime, and they can be dangerous to keep in our country.
Children are forced by commanders through false promises. Many believe that child soldiers are not morally responsible for the actions they perform. I think that is unfair for kids my age to be dealing with this situation and having to deal with this every day their commanders. And i agree child soldiers should not be blamed they are not responsible for their actions only if someone is telling them do or something bad will happen to you or his family. This type of situation is called amnesty because you are dealing with some commanders and some horrible living conditions.
Child soldiers are victims to an unfortunate outcome when viciously stolen from reality and their childhoods. Drugged, brainwashed, and armed these kids are taught at an impressionable age that in war it's kill or be killed. They are given no other option than to participate in this war, so child soldiers should be granted amnesty.
In my opinion, child soldiers should not be granted amnesty. Child soldiers should serve at least some years to think about what they did. Letting someone go after killing so many people is not fair to the deceased family. In addition, all child soldiers should take a lie detector test to prove if they were forced to be soldiers or wanted to be soldiers. Everyone should be forgiven, but sometimes forgiving is hard to do.
One topic that has been debated recently is whether child soldiers from other countries are victims or perpetrators, and whether they should be given amnesty or not. Many believe that child soldiers are the victims, since they have no choice but to join or else they would be killed, and should also be given amnesty since they don’t know what they are doing because they are filled up with drugs. However, those child soldiers should be mentally sane to be given amnesty and earn their citizenship the way immigrants earn their citizenship.
Child Soldiers in general i think should and shouldn’t because they were fighting against us in war, but then again they were drugged and brainwashed to.
Many countries have ongoing wars that are affecting families and citizens, but most importantly the children. Terrorist and rebel groups are recruiting and drugging young children to force them to fight on their side of the war. The debate is whether or not Child soldiers should be granted amnesty after they are rescued from these devastating situations. Many children are forced into fighting and should be granted amnesty in order to help them recover. Theses kids were too young to truly understand what they are doing.
Did you know that up to thirty percent of child soldiers are female? This is because they have a higher risk of being sexually abused, including rape. They are also given to the commanders as wives. In some parts of the world, such as Yemen and South Sudan, there is tremendous dispute over the subject of child soldiers. The history of child soldiers go back to WW1 and WW2. When the number of German soldiers started to drop during the war, Nazi leaders began to enlist children as young as twelve years old. The Asians also did the same when they were battling against the Japanese in WW1. In Africa, child soldiers are still used today. Child soldiers should receive amnesty because they were fighting for their just cause, they fear the consequences
Recently, the case of child soldiers has drawn attention to the fact that if whether or not countries should prosecute child soldiers for their crimes they committed. According to the UN, over 50 countries recruit children into their armed forces. The sheer scale of the issue forces the question, should child soldiers be given amnesty.
Awil Salah Osman and many other kids are being terrorised and tortured to be child soldiers and some think that they need amnesty when really they do not need it or get it. There are more than 200,000 kids in the line of fire shooting and killing other people. The article Armed and Underage states that the kids were given two choices to run or to stay and be a fighter. Two kids ran From commanders and were shot dead with ak-47 rifles. Some others may say that the kids were fighting for rights when recruited but it didn't take long to realize who they were killing. Prosecuting the kids after they got out of the war was a very difficult task also. Article 26 states that kids 18 and under cannot be prosecuted .
Child soldiers. Most can not fathom the idea of children in war, less the fact that those children are fighting. It is a terrible thought to have to think about, especially when America now has the power to help and has been reluctant to use it (source 2). None the less though, children from ages 10 and up are being recruited for war (source 2). According to the United Nations, 14 countries around the world are recruiting children and used in armed conflicts as informants, guards, porters, cooks, and often, as front-line armed combatants (Source 2). So, should these child soldiers be granted amnesty if, or when, they are rescued? Child soldiers should be granted amnesty for their previous war crimes.
