This quote reflects respect, since respect is being polite and courteous to anyone, no matter the person. Respect is found in multiple places and is viewed in various ways depending on the socioeconomic background or the culture. Also, respect can have consequences, which could be bad or good. Respect is often shown in professional, home, and casual environments in various ways. In a professional environment, such as at school, work, and especially in the military, respect is an important value. According to PRNewswire in the article Santander Bank Shows Customers That Respect Adds Up, respect for their customers is how they have managed to become one of the country’s “largest retail and commercial banks”. Respect in a work environment allows for better profits, especially if it is towards co-workers or customers. In a military, respect is a very important value. In the army, one of the values is respect, and to “treat others with dignity and respect while expecting others to do the same” according to the Soldier’s Code. At home, respect is viewed differently. A child is often supposed to respect their parents and siblings. The outcome is different as well when being respectful in a home environment. The child who is supposed to be respectful usually will not gain the same way a worker would in a professional environment. Another place for respect could be with casual encounters. This could be talking with a friend, chatting with a classmate, or just waving at someone while walking across the street. That means that respect can help gain friends, since it is important in relationships, as well as help achieve happiness. On the contrary, being disrespectful can lead to many bad outcomes. Being disrespectful can lead to either a loss of friends, or make it harder to find them, which is conflicting with being respectful. Another poor outcome from being disrespectful is the loss of respect.
