In the United States Army we are taught to live by the Seven Army Values. They are broken down to us in the acronym ‘LDRSHIP’ which is short for Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage. We are all taught these 7 Army values repeatedly from day one in the United States Army. First we memorize these values. Then we are trained to live by them. All of these 7 values coincide with each other, and play an important roll in our Army lives. These 7 Army Values also play well into life outside the Army in our personal life. It is showing someone that you value their time; that you care what they have to say. Everyone wants to be respected. It’s in our nature, but in order to obtain respect, first of all one has to respect oneself. Second, one has to show respect to others in order to gain respect from them. If one doesn’t show respect to someone, that person may often feel blown off and lose respect for you. The definition for the respect is as per the following, a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. Apperception, esteem, consideration, dignity, recognition, and honor are just a minority of the synonyms. So of course, criticism, dishonor, disrespect, neglect, disregard, and ignorance are just a minority of the antonyms. Indeed, even across the world, there are different definition for the word respect. Even throughout time this word has changed numerous times.

Respect is an important element in effective communication, and the development of a relationship. Actively listening to another person’s point of view or opinion, remembering personal details, showing an interest and responding in an appropriate manner, all show that you have listened and placed importance upon what has been said, which leads to positive relationships and respectful, effective communication.

However also, Strengths of being respectful are might be improve a person 's relationships with all kinds of people. It keeps clash away, you 'll have a good repute, it makes people happy, you will be seen as a role model for others, and you are seen as the bigger person.

WHAT IS RESPECT WITHIN THE MILITARY. Respect to me mean treat people the way they should be treated. Treat others with dignity and respect while expecting others to do same. Respect is trusting that all people have done their jobs and fulfill their duty. Respect is one of the key values in the United States Army.

In other cases respect is earned, and not given. What I mean by this is that, sometimes people must gain the respect of others. This can be earned in many ways, like being respectful of others, being the best you can be, and doing kind things for others. This respect can cause people to look up and follow in example of someone, and eventually making you an example for others to follow and look up to, on so on and so forth.

Respect is holding something or someone in high regard. Respect has an impact on all aspects of my life, both personally and professionally. As a personal value, respect is twofold; I must respect everyone around me as well as respecting myself. I will demonstrate respect for others by treating everyone equally and without judgement. I will listen and be considerate of the opinions and values of others, regardless of conflicting opinions. I will respect myself by dressing modestly and not objectifying myself as a woman. I will not engage in any unethical behaviour that may compromise my personal morals and values.

Most people go through life and always hear about the word respect, but they don’t know what it means. Respect is the esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person. There are things in life you need to hold in respect. Respect for yourself, respect for others, and respect for property. Respect is taught to people everywhere and it is even taught to them in their religions. Respect is the very aspect that keeps everything in your life.

Respect is very important because other people will judge you by how much respect you show them. In my opinion, respect is the best way to show someone what kind of person you are. Respect is having manners and helping others. Being respectful to people also means to respect their religion, culture, skin color, and their all around way of living life. When you respect people it makes them happy, and you could get the same kind of respect in return

The Army has kind of got it right, in a way. They view respect as a way that we should act towards each other and treat each other. But Respect is still so much more then that. You can not respect just a person, or a rank, or a position, but also someones experience that has led them to where they are. Its more about feelings

According to FORSCOM G8, "Army leaders honor everyone’s individual worth by treating all people with dignity and respect. The leader who feels and gives the respect which is due to others cannot fail to inspire in them regard for himself. While he who feels, and hence manifests, disrespect toward others, especially his subordinates, cannot fail to inspire hatred against himself. Respect for the individual forms the basis for the rule of law, the very essence of what makes America. In the Army, respect means recognizing and appreciating the inherent dignity and worth of all people. This value reminds you that your people are your greatest resource."

There are many little things you can do to show respect. For example you can clean your room and set the dishes. You can raise your hand when some one else is talking when you have an opinion. Don’t be afraid to share your opinions and ideas. They can be a good example for someone. Be a person that another person would want to look up to. You can not be this person when you have a lack of respect.
