Anthem is a book I would recommend to friends. Who wouldn't want to read a book with a little bit of romance, free will,rediscoveries,and freedom. In anthem, Ayn describes a frightening future where individuality is wiped of the face of the planet,creativity is shunned,free will is punishable by death,and values are taken away. Even though all these things are forbidden and shunned on by the people in this society there is one soul who has not allowed this restrictive society to tame him, Equality 7-2521. It encircles individualism and makes the reader think of how people can conform to society and do as they are told without knowing the consequences and results of their decisions. Also, it teaches the importance of self expression and the freedom that comes along with being your own person and having the power to choose what path to take in life. Figurative language is used often in this book and in a variety of quotes that have great importance to the theme, plot, and conflict of the novel.

I thought the moral of the story is sticking together and staying for a common cause. For example Equality 7-2521 went and read forbidden books that interested him and even though it was a sin he still did it knowing he could get in a lot of trouble for it. I thought in all of these pieces of literature, there is unity in all of them that brings them all together for a cause.
