There are numerous arts and architecture that celebrate the medieval and the Renaissance history of Florence. Florence has a past not known to many, you could say it’s the untold history that dates back to the Roman empire. Before the Medici’s rise to power, the books of Machiavelli and Dante, and the David’s sculpted by Michelangelo and Donatello Florence was a Roman republic. Their influence on the city is overlooked and forgotten in books. The intention of this research paper is to shed some light on that forgotten past, to uncover the traces of Roman empire in Florence and the thrilling stories of some of the games in the Colosseum.

To me, Saint Quiteria has proven she is more than worthy of being called a saint. Saint Quiteria was born during the second century, and was a part of a nonuplet, or nine children born at the same time. Quiteria’s mother and father were both high figures a part of the Roman Empire. Her mother feared she would be compared to an animal, because of the amount of daughters she had at once, she ordered a maiden from town to drown her nine baby daughters. The maiden taking mercy on the children, decided to raise them with the other peasant women. The nine children were raised in a close-community and raised in the Catholic faith. A few years later, the daughters were arrested for refusing to believe in a Roman god, and they were all taken to the governor – who was their father¬ - who recognized them through their familiar features.

Italy is a beautiful Country filled with architecture, history, and romance. Anywhere you go you can find an interesting sculpture, museum, or gallery. Around every corner another story unravels itself and you can see many locations that are simply amazing. The streets are chaos in every way from the traffic to the large crowds of people who are trying to get from location A to location B; however, they are also overwhelmed with lovely, kind people who are always wanting to help or give advice. Although the locals are friendly, they always seem to be in a hurry and many do not feel the need to apologize to every person they accidently bump into walking down the street. In addition, some people may get annoyed easily with the tourists who do not understand their culture or language. Generally speaking, Italians are just a foreign version of Americans with a different background and culture. Although there are some similar features, this country is a must-see destination because you will not see another place like Italy.
