All my life, I have lived in a safe place in Rogers Park. I know way too many places in Rogers Park that are definitely not safe for anyone, especially the risky places that many younger children live by. Many times I have passed by a dangerous area of Rogers Park and have wondered how the innocent people deal with living there. I want to change this. If I had the power to adjust three things in Rogers Park, I would choose the most important things that would come to my mind.
One thing I would choose to make better in Rogers Park would be to make it a sanctuary for immigrants. I want to start with Rogers Park, because I know that not every place will ever be a sanctuary, also, I think that would be the best adjustment in this community. I

I decided this would be a good adjustment for our area because lately there have been too many police brutality cases. Honestly, this scares me very much, because many innocent people have been hurt, or like many cases, died. I would want this because then we would be able to trust these people who are supposed to be protecting us, not hurting and damaging us. Many stories of police brutality are mainly focused on racism. Racist policemen are the last thing that we want.
The last adjustment I would want to make for Rogers Park would be to give schools more funds. I think that this is important because many schools do not have enough funds to create important, fun programs. They might be able to help pay for some students whose families won't be able to pay for field trips or for team uniforms. This can help make upgrades to the school building. For example, some schools might have to make adjustments for the driveway or classroom. Many schools might need more funds to hire more teachers for students who might needs special observation and a different teaching method.

Being born and raised in Los Angeles, California, the article that intrigued me was “Dodgers asking $12 million a year for naming rights to field”, by Terry Lefton. In the eyes of some, commercialism has saturated historical Major League Baseball stadiums with signage and advertisements plastered across walls.
South Street Philadelphia’s sidewalk’s safety is not determined by the strangers shuffling in and out of the area, but instead by the local residents and community members who live there. Based on my personal observations, the biggest asset to South Street in regard to safety and overall quality of the area are the locals who reside there. This idea of community investment relating to the safety of a street is presented in Jane Jacob’s novel The Death and Life of Great American Cities and is one of her ideas that is accurately displayed throughout South Street. By examining the various ways people interact in different areas and shops on South Street, I was able to evaluate what aspects of her writing proved to be beneficial to the overall safety of the area.
Field is more of an adult oriented ballpark now, but in the future the Rickett
Known as U.S Cellular Field now Guaranteed Rate Field, That might be the worst name I ever heard, instead it should be called Guaranteed Win Field for the away teams because the sox can never pull out a win. The food is even bad at least if your team is losing you want some good food but all they have is vegetarian and vegan options, You feel like you're in a Freshii instead of a ball park.
First things first, the damaged community relations between authority and the public must be fixed. If the two cannot trust one another, the odds of eliminating police brutality are almost impossible. The little things we do as humans for other humans will always go a long way. Officers taking time out of their day to play basketball with teenagers, cops mowing lawns for people who are physically incapable of doing it themselves, or the police discovering a homeless family in a car and then proceeding to buy the family a room at a motel are acts of compassion that will slowly but surely repair the distrust that exists between police officers and minorities. If the COPS budget were to actually receive funding rather than lose significant amounts of money, new officers would undergo the proper training that is required for a job that is so physically and mentally demanding. Once the new cops have 5-10 years and a record of good behavior under their belt, then consider trimming the COPS budget once again and have the veteran officers train developing officers. The process will take quite some time, but will save large amounts of money in the long-term as a result. Many cops believe that wearing body cameras is an invasion of personal space and privacy. While this is partially true, if authority has nothing to hide, body
Have you ever felt unsafe in your neighborhood? Maybe you didn’t feel safe letting your child go outside or leaving your car in the street overnight. Sixty-six percent of Liberty Greens community members surveyed from the ages of fourteen to fifty say that in the past they have felt unsafe in Liberty Greens. Throughout the ten years of living in this neighborhood, I have witnessed many members of the neighborhood complaining about the bikes and cars that have been stolen straight out of their driveway. So why is this happening and how can we stop it? Liberty Greens’ crime rate is too vast and therefore the neighborhood should be monitored by video cameras and checked upon daily by the Painesville City Police Department.
With the heat and pressure of the season fully upon us, it’s a nice change of pace lend a hand in our local communities. So, when the Prospect Valley Rebels little league baseball team needed help rebuilding their baseball field, they came to LGE. The field was in disrepair – full of weeds and rocks – making it an uninviting place to be, let alone a place to play baseball. LGE stepped up to the plate (pun intended) with donations of material, trucking, and equipment time. Along with helping hands from volunteers from the baseball team and the local community, the field was soon ready for the kids to play ball. Now this field is an enjoyable place to watch a baseball game on a hot summer afternoon.
Over the years, however, Boston has taken measures in attempt to put these problems to rest. In 1961, locals who were worried about the conditions of Fenway-Kenmore founded the Fenway Civic Association to improve their neighborhood’s appearance and safety. In the mid-1990s, ISTEA project “Connecting the Corridors” worked to provide more access for bikes and pedestrians around The Fens. Moreover, from the mid-1990s to early 2000s, Boston’s Capital Improvement Program “Getting the Job Done” invested millions of dollars into Fenway-Kenmore’s parks to provide for a greener
Currently in the world today we still go through racism, racial profiling, and segregation. We need the police to extend their
The school years are the grounding years of one's learning. Schools have a major role in transforming children to become reliable citizens and contributing members of society. Education paves the way for someone to have a great career. Education builds character and gives someone the skills to succeed in life. The national average of the yearly per-student spending in Public K-12 Schools is about $12,000. Students who attend schools in states with higher per pupil spending outperform students in states with a low per-pupil spending. The students score higher on the National Assessment of Academic Progress (NAEP) tests. They are also better prepared for college and are able to handle the transition to the college workload.
Can you considered yourself safe even if it the city you were born? Many people are living out in the streets because of violent, outrageous taxes and government corrupt. You’re probably the next one to have that fate. Chicago is your best bet on being the worse city to live.
They could also set-up monthly town hall meeting where all stay abreast on the concerns within the community and having a joint effort to work on solutions that may be plaguing the area. There should also be some type of sensitivity class were officers get the opportunity to see behind the scenes of what goes on in a community were resources or limited. Until the relationship changes upon the black residents and officers, racial profiling will continue to be an issue and possibly get worse. When real active solution comes about, there will and could be a decrease in police officers because if profiling is reduced along with crime there would not be a need for so many police officers in low to middle income areas. Again, the system is design to make money off the backs of the low income which, depending on what you read, is mostly blacks when blacks only make up about 15 percent of the
I personally support United States law enforcement agencies and believe that they make our country a better place. Currently a lot of controversy surrounds America's police force with cases of excessive force coming to light through social media. In these cases, I think both sides are to blame for the violence that ensues. In defense of police officers, they were attempting to apprehend a suspect that was in the process of breaking the law. However, this does not exempt them of their use excessive force or the cases where the suspect is killed. A change that can be made to help calm the situation is harsher punishment for officers caught using excessive force. While these changes are an important step in preventing police brutality, it
Police Brutality has been a growing issue in our society and is only getting worse as time goes on. The issue on police targeting minorities and using excessive force only against them is the major part of the problem. Police brutality is people being shot when they pose no threat to, when cops are using to much force, and a solution to this problem would be for all police to wear body cameras at all times.
If I could change one thing about my community I would build more homeless shelters. I know they are a couple of homeless shelters in Arizona, but there’s not to many near my neighborhood. I want homeless shelters in my neighborhood than teens and kids can walk or bike to. I believe that we change by serving others and by helping our homeless citizens we can come closer as a community.
