In the timeless tale of romeo and juliet, Two young lovers from feuding families have a whirlwind love affair. they meet at a party, flirt and secretly marry in the time period of a day. hours later they are separated, and desperate attempt to be together, they miscommunicate their escape plan and end up killing themselves because they can not live without each other. I believe there relationship is infatuation because you can not fall in love how fast they did. Although many people will see romeo and juliet's passionate affection at true love it is best described as infatuation
if romeo and juliet are not in love then why would they have committed suicide over each other. Although this may be true but if you think about it you can not love someone if you don't know them and you can't argue that they got to know each other because you can not get to know someone that faston page it states that romeo and juliet where only together for one less than two days. another words romeo and juliet could have not got to know each other in less than two days and if you don't know someone you can't have love for them. one of the two could be a killer and they don't know it because they haven't had much time to talk. some people might say for the little time they did get to talk they fell in love however they only had a few hours to talk and if you fall in love with someone in a few hours and get married in one day and live happily ever after then you can make that argument.

Young love is a very deep immature feeling, which tends to misguide those affected by it, and the affected ones fall too deeply in love, which leads to a tendency of self-destruction. The concept of the young misguiding love is emphasized in the drama, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet are young when they first see each other and make the mistake of loving each other without knowing their family names. Their deep love without any understanding of the concept of love leads to the young lovers committing suicide, which is a rash decision. They do not embrace their situation, and think about other solutions other than suicide. Romeo and Juliet act on impulse and make rash decisions without thinking about the
Shakespeare suggests that love isn’t the same feeling as infatuation, but also stresses that teenagers struggle to interpret the difference between the two. For instance, Friar Lawrence says “Holy Saint Francis! What a change is here! Is Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear, So soon forsaken? Young men's love then lies, Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes. Jesus Maria! What a deal of brine, Hath wash'd thy sallow cheeks for Rosaline!” (Shakespeare 3.2 66-71). This quote shows that Romeo was recently deeply infatuated with another girl; thus proving Shakespeare’s point that teens fall for one another quite easy. This isn’t the only time Shakespeare mentions the idea of infatuation between Romeo and Juliet. When Juliet saw that Romeo drank the poison and left her none to spare, she exclaims “Yea, noise? Then I'll be brief. O happy dagger! This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die” (Shakespeare 5.3 174-175). Seeing the person one loves most die will ruin that person’s life. Juliet overreacted because of her infatuation and decided to stab herself with Romeo’s dagger. Not only does Shakespeare emphasize infatuation exists during the 1600’s, but modern society continues to face the idea of love vs
The suicide committed by both Juliet and Romeo demonstrates their blinding love and how they would rather love each other or not live at all. For example Romeo says,”Why art thou yet so fair? Shall I believe. That unsubstantial death is amorous, And that the lean abhorrèd monster keep. Thee here in dark to be his paramour? For fear of that, I still will stay with thee.” Romeo says that we would rather die with Juliet than live without her. This is a very powerful moment in the play, because it resembles that love is a poison that can kill. In reality, it is very unlikely to be able declare your love for someone only after three days. Truthfully, I believe that Romeo and Juliet didn’t love each other but fell in the love with the idea of each other, making both of them make ignorant decisions. Romeo and Juliet die because their young foolish love possessed them to do rash unintelligent things. In addition, this is another scene that demonstrates love's
Similarly, Romeo forgets all about how he loved Rosaline and transitions into “loving” Juliet at the sight of her. Romeo mistaking love for lust is voiced by Romeo himself when he witnesses Juliet at the Capulet’s feast, he asks himself, “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight, / For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night” (I.v.51-60). When Romeo asks if his “heart” loved, he refers to his eyes. Romeo’s reference to beauty is parallel to his feelings of love towards Juliet only with the recognition of beauty or infatuation. Also, Romeo forgets all about his love for Rosaline the exact second sees Juliet, which can conclude he was never really in love to begin with; therefore, proving Romeo’s desire for Juliet is nothing more than meaningless infatuation. Furthermore, Friar Laurence tells Romeo that his sudden change of heart to move on from Rosaline means his desire towards her lies in his eyes rather than his heart. At the time of these events Juliet is thirteen years old and Romeo is eighteen years old showing that they are just teenagers. Although, teenagers do not take love seriously and do not have a full metal grasp of what love
They only meet at a party (I.v.91) then are married within 15 hours (II.vi.35). In general, a person needs to really know another person to truly love them. For example, if you see someone across the room and thinks they are beautiful. You aren’t in love because you don't know them you just think they are beautiful. Therefore since, Romeo and Juliet just met and were married within 24 hours they don't really know each other so it's unlikely that they are in
Juliet was not in love with Romeo, but she may have been feeling a great sense of limerence towards him. The line between feelings love and limerence can sometimes be hard to see, which explains why Juliet “fell in love” with Romeo so quickly. She didn’t actually fall in love, she just thought she did. This false love is important to notice because it shows the theme ‘love is blind’. Juliet thought she was in love with Romeo and her false love for him made her blind to the fact that she really was not in love.
Romeo had just loved another girl, Rosaline, only moments before seeing Juliet and deciding that he had loved her instantly. According to the article, “Love at first sight is a phenomenon that 15% of people have reported experiencing it. They described it as a once in a lifetime situation.” It seems impossible that Romeo had experienced this with two girls within a few days. As for Juliet, she is only 13 years old. Many studies have found that children can not love somebody romantically until they have hit puberty. She shows her immaturity towards the beginning of the book, when the nurse is speaking to her and she gets extremely embarrassed. While she does mature throughout the play, her maturity level at when she first met Romeo was no where near where it would have to be to fall inlove.
Romeo and Juliet are both in their teenage years. Just like teenagers in other cultures, they are impulsive and have high hormones due to human nature. Romeo has proven that he experiences these things through his past love for Rosaline and how upset he got over her. Juliet has also shown these things while on the balcony expressing her love for Romeo. Their teenage side effects play into the quickness and extremity of their love through marriage and suicide at such a young age. Due to their impulsivity, they didn’t think ahead they just thought about what they were currently in need of and wanting.
In today’s terms, what Romeo and Juliet experienced when they first saw each other was infatuation. Juliet was thirteen, almost fourteen, she could not understand what romantic love is like because she has never been in love. Romeo is seventeen, he does not know what romantic love is as well.
Juliet is just under 14 years old, and a Capulet, whose family are bitter enemies of the Montagues. As the prologue explains, "From forth the loins of these two foes A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life". The
Romeo and Juliet were two star crossed lovers trapped within a battle between the Montagues and Caplulets. They felt as if they truly loved one another, enough to die for this affection. Swallowed his own demise; that is what Romeo did when he caught wind of Juliet's death. Finding Romeo with the icy claws of the afterlife embedded beside him, Juliet killed herself as well. This may seem romantic at the time, however after deep consideration, the conclusion remains that this is not true love. Only the shallowness of loving with the eyes rather than the heart brought this upon them.
"There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a flashing, throbbing moment" -Sarah Dessen. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a valid representation of true love. There has always been a conflict with deciding if they have a lust or love relationship. Some may argue that Romeo and Juliet simply have a lustful relationship but actually Romeo and Juliet had a relationship that started off as lust and transitioned into love over time.
Sandesh Jagessar Mrs. Marshall ENG2D1-12 10 December 2014 Romeo and Juliet: Love vs Lust Love is the affection that one gives and takes to a person, place, or thing and no matter what happens love will always be persistent. In Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”, Romeo is at a change in hearts after falling in love with Juliet; a Capulet and an enemy to his Montague clan. Previously, Romeo was left melancholy and infatuated for another maiden named Rosaline. Thus, Shakespeare has readers questioning how true Romeo’s love is. In spite of that, Romeo goes to the extremes to prove that he loves Juliet.
Romeo doesn't love Juliet he was just drugged. The whole story was fake love they think they love each other but they don't. It is there teenager minds I know nothing about love but I do some stupid stuff. Juliet loves Romeo because she want to (do it). Romeo loves Juliet because he is deprested.
The tragedy isn't the fact that Romeo and Juliet are in love, but it is the consequences and decisions they put themselves through. These decisions are more pathetic than anything else, they caused lots of chaos. This work is from ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by William Shakespeare. Romeo’s decision to go back to Verona, was very sudden; if he had delayed his trip, three lives would've been saved. Juliet’s secret marriage with Romeo caused the confusion and involvement of Paris, if the marriage wasn't a secret none of them would have died. If Juliet didn't decide to commit suicide, she would've prevented her own death and the death of her mother. The decisions made by the protagonists are often pathetic and irrational, leading to the unnecessary deaths of many of the main and minor characters in the play.
