Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Illinois. He attended Eureka College and studied economics and sociology. As Reagan grew older his political views went from liberal to conservative. In 1966 he was elected governor of California then re-elected in 1970. In 1980 Reagan won the Republican Presidential nomination then took office on January 20, 1981. He won the presidential race easily due to the inflation and secret of Americans in Iran. Only sixty-nine days later after he took office he was shot.

Ronald Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6th, 1911. His family moved 5 times before settling down in Dixon, Illinois, and there he spent his adolescent years. He was very busy during and in school. Reagan played football, basketball, acted in school plays, and was the president of the student body. After high school, he moved on to Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois. Right after college, Reagan was a sports announcer for a small radio station, and eventually was moved up to a larger station.

The consensus among historians is that Ronald Reagan left a lasting legacy that was a great one in numerous ways. His Reaganomics improved America’s economy greatly, and secured its future economic prosperity. He also fought communism head on and was able to end it in most parts of the world, but more importantly in Soviet Russia. However, in doing so he got wrapped up in the Iran-Contra Affair, which will forever be tied to his name in a negative regard. Within America, Reagan was able to improve society such as his success in curbing the use of illegal drugs.
