Rudy Giuliani is the embodiment of an America Dream. Rudy climbed the political ladder and now lies as president-elected global chair of cybersecurity (CNN Library). People who are in the public eye and in politics are at times involved in a scandal or multiple scandals. Scandals have been present since the beginning of time and can very much affect your credibility and your public response to any of your further doings. Rudy Giuliani did experience a similar scandal to John Proctor from The Crucible and many others have too but, each situation is different and unique to their own.
Growing up in Brooklyn and having a father who owned a tavern could easily affect your views on politics. Giuliani’s family came to the United States of America from Italy and they are a family of working-class and are Catholics. Giuliani’s father, Harold Angel Giuliani, was a member of an organized crime group. Giuliani (father), would later be convicted of assault and robbery. This would later foreshadow on this position and responsibility on crime once he became mayor of New York in 1941 – 2001. Before any of his political career, Giuliani attended Catholic High School. Religion was very important to Giuliani as was to Proctor, as he stated in The Crucible, “God sees my name; God knows how black my sins are” (Miller 142). It is amazing to know how a person’s reputation is important! It is interesting to know how many important people can easily lose their reputation. Senator Richard Nixon did something unique after being accused of stealing money from a campaign fund. This accusation was heard everywhere and General Dwight Eisenhower was about to make a decision in dropping Nixon from his choice for Vice President. Richard Nixon then delivered a thirty minute speech instead of trying to clear his name in going to interviewers and journalists; the speech Richard Nixon gave, saved his career and it also took him beyond congress. It is good to hear that his speech worked and making his speech the top sixth speeches of the 20th century. Probably Richard Nixon and his family went through hard and difficult times throughout the accusation but Richard Nixon and his family was very strong to overcome it.
The American dream is the idea that success is available to all regardless of family background or social status. It is achieved through hard work, talent, and ambition. However, in The Mice of Men, the American dream is not possible. Steinbeck shows this through the actions of Curley’s wife as she represents women of that time. Curley’s wife is a very lonely person and not very hard working. She even antagonizes the men on the ranch because she thinks she can get away with it, which shows just how weak she is. According to Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men, the American dream is not possible and this is demonstrated through his use of the character Curley’s wife.

There is much more to the American Dream than property, wealth, and a perfect spouse and Jay Gatsby, a character in Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby learns about the American Dream the hard way. Jay Gatsby of West Egg, New York was notoriously known for being extremely wealthy. Mr. Gatsby was also recognized by his extravagant parties with more than hundreds of guests. Jay Gatsby was not always known as Jay Gatsby, he was previously known for being James Gatz. Mr. Gatz was not a wealthy person and Gatz left his parents because they were poor and unsuccessful farmers to pursue a dream. James Gatz changed his name

Proctor did not want the town to separate and fall apart due to one lie. “Proctor was a farmer in his middle thirties. He need not have ben a partisan of any fraction in the town,but there is evidence to suggest that he had a sharp and biting war with hypocrites. He was the kind of man—powerful of body, even tempered, and not easily led who cannot refuse support to partisans without drawing their deepest resentment.”(Miller892). He is considered to be one of the mayors who redefined New York City politics. Fiorello had a very long career in politics before serving as mayor. After graduating New York University law school in 1910, LaGuardia practiced law and was appointed Deputy Attorney General. He also served many terms in Congress as a republican. LaGuardia lost his first try at the Mayor's race to Jimmy Walker in 1929, but was successful on his second try in 1933.
One of the things Clinton is most famous for, but not the proudest of, is his affairs. The issue of Clinton having an affair with Monica Lewinsky is purely personal. It should have been discussed within his family and in his family alone. Many people seem to forget that Presidents before him have done the exact same thing. Robert presents himself as a morally superior, relatable, country singing conservative. “A Cool Million” demonstrates the allure and trap of the American Dream. Lem manages to maintain his optimism until the point he is shot, and even after his death he is used as a martyr and also as a figurehead of the National Revolutionary Party. The American Dream is useless because the opportunity is crushed by the greed of a few individuals. There are also parallels between the movie and current events today.
