Last Autumn, I received a call from Amir asking me if he could develop a tutoring program for college students. Amir, having recently graduated for the University of Houston, had spent time reflecting on his college experienced and sought to aid others who were going through similar collegiate struggles. Amir quickly formed and established the Undergraduate
I didn’t have any previously knowledge of tenures receiving gifts with bonus money years after. I’m employed at ABCBS. I enjoyed shares the benefits that comes alone with working for a great company. I really appreciated that fact that Cassie, whom probably
Drop-In tutoring has different subjects to get help with and they done with actual live tutors. The live drop in tutoring subjects are mainly math related. I think that is really neat to be offered this resource. Scheduled tutoring offers help with more subjects. These sessions are scheduled with a certain time frame and also done with a live tutor. Offline questions can be left for a tutor to respond to within 24 hours. Writing practice is a less formal way to submit a writing and get it reviewed very quickly. There is even an iOS and Android app to access the Smarthinking website. This is a very helpful website that we have access to. I am very excited to be able to use it for our essays. It seems that we will have a teacher right in front of us that we can turn in for it to be graded but it does not actually get graded until we turn our work into the Bethel Online website. I love that we can use this to improve our writing and clearly get to see what we have done wrong. This will help us to learn. I am definitely going to be using the Grammar and Documentation Review in the Essay Center. It is a relief to know I will have help with writing essays and it will make me become a better writer and

Client currently resides with his brother in his trailer. Client is also responsible for taking care of his children during the day. I have always been good in math and science, so I was often asked to help out other students. Last school year, as a Freshman I saw greater need for tutoring at my school. That’s when the idea of a tutoring club came to my head. My brother, a Junior at the time, loved the idea too. So, together, we worked out a plan to make a club happen. With the backing of my school, the club is now going strong. I am a lead tutor helping elementary kids after school Monday to Thursday.
What I mostly gained from the information from this class was hinted on in a lot of our readings. The question is, “Why black individuals rather sell and deal in drugs, than trying to attain a real job (career also)”. Black workers go through a lot of struggles compared to their white counterparts in the job process, this seems like an easy way around it. What I learned about in week six, about Access to Work, is very irrational and crooked, such as the application process, not only does black workers have to worry about color, but also about their name as well. Also, other key factors are, where they live, and what school they came too. Also, week ten discuss The Urban Jobs Crisis, by stating on page 42 of The Urban Jobs Crisis, “many working
At a young age, school work is sometimes not one of the main things on a child’s agenda. They can easily get distracted and would rather play games on the electronics or gossip with friends and find ways of getting around their school work. I’ve found that being an ARAC tutor is more than just a job. It allows for college students to make a difference on an individual level that can later on impact a whole community. Working in the Bibb County schools has provided me with insight into a community that is less fortunate than where I grew up. It has made me realize that I am giving these students more than just help with their education. I am providing them with an image of a person that provides a positive contribution to
When you love what you do, work doesn’t seem so bad. Ms. Bauer has always enjoyed the idea of helping people. As her career changed, she found even more joy within her work. She is grateful that her position allows her to work with people directly. The interaction is something so raw and real, which is something she truly enjoys. Working at Hamilton’s has also allowed her to help families during a crisis situation. Although one would think this would be a very dark time in life, it often times brings out joy as the family reflects on memories of their loved one. In addition, she loves that her area of work is very broad yet also specific. This allows her a lot of flexibility and control of her work environment (C. Bauer, personal communication, February 1, 2017). Passion for a career is what makes going to work worth it.

A way you can make your client, Z feel comfortable with at the agency’s transitional housing program is that you can inform her that she and her family are in the program for the needs and services that can be beneficial for her and her family. She has a right to the services that are offered, while she is participating in the program. It is helpful in letting Z know that she does not have to feel timid, or shy away from wanting to, and asking for help. It is your goal to assist to her and other clients the necessities that are needed in the program. Whenever Z feels like she is afraid to ask for the things that she and her family need, inform her what your job consist of, and who are to be given services to. She is no different than any other
I think it is very beneficial to have an online tutoring service like Smarthinking. My interest is you don't have to meet with someone all the way in Tennessee because I live in Florida, to assist or provide extra learning tools.
