Athlete’s salary caps Do you ever think about how much a ticket cost just to go see a sports game, while an average american man or women like you makes almost forty thousand five hundred dollars a year and you have to pay for special needs while you end up using that money witch then you end up losing, This is why leagues should impose salary caps for athletes pay. The average money someone make is forty thousand five hundred dollars but they have to end up using that money for a special need, tickets cost to much, Because leagues with salary caps are too high, athletes should get paid less than they usually do. One reason why athletes pay should be lowered is

Lastley Owners should not spend too much on just a player like howard because look at howard know, howard was paid twenty five million dollars just to play on a team and he got injured, this is why owners should not spend too much on just a losey player. This is why people should not get paid way too much just to play a game such as football because they could get in a severe injury. We should lower the price for how much athletes make because it is ridiculous just like ryan howard he got paid twenty five million and he got …show more content…
Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw tops players at thirty one million dollars and Los Angeles projects to open the season with a payroll at about twenty thousand seven hundred million million, easily a record. "I'm a believer there should be no floor, no ceiling ever. This must be a choice-driven system. When you have a free market, the game itself will set the boundaries. There are no ceilings on your revenues, so why should there be a ceiling on your expenditures?" Professional athletes are paid exactly what they deserve because they work harder and sacrifice more than most people think. The majority of people think athletes are overpaid because they see huge contracts come out every year, but this only happens for the best of the best. It isn't everyday that someone in professional sports gets twenty million dollars a year all of a sudden. They worked for it. "One of the unwritten laws of economics is that it is impossible, truly impossible, to prevent the values of society from manifesting themselves in dollars and cents. This is, ultimately, the reason why athletes are paid so much money….We are, as a nation, far more interested in having good baseball teams than we are in finding a cure for cancer."-Bill James, Baseball Analyst I believe that
Money is limited. One can only buy what one has enough for. People must be efficient with their money. One must fill all of their needs. Similar to this situation, owners of professional sports teams can only buy players they have enough money for. Salary caps are placed on players based on skill level and value. This could be based off of various influences such as location, fan base, concessions sold, and much more. When some teams get more money than others, those teams get stacked with great players that lead the teams to victory. However, some complain that they don’t have a lot of money, and state that that is the reason they don’t have a good team. Therefore, the issue of salary caps, has two sides. Although salary caps could be abused
In my opinion, athletes are way overpaid for their career. To begin, athletes have more money than they know what to do with. For example, Derrick Coleman, a basketball player for the nets, filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy after having taken loans from numerous sources throughout Detroit. Because pro athletes like him have so much money, they choose to use it in an amiss way. Athletes can act in a very inane manner with all the money they make each year. Next, we all love to watch athletes, but they aren't achieving or gaining anything important out of all
The argument whether professional sports teams should have salary caps remains to be a contentious topic. A salary cap is an upper limit on the amount that employees in a particular company or industry can be paid (English Dictionary). In sports, a salary cap is used to limit how much a team can spend on player salaries. If a team exceeds the salary cap amount, they will be penalized with fines (Zegers). Professional sports teams should have salary caps to establish fairness throughout the league and increase revenues for each of the teams and their owners.
Professional sports are bursting with unfair competition and suffering fans due to either the lack of a salary cap or a fortified set of restrictions in the leagues that already have a salary cap in place. A well-structured salary cap will allow professional sports to thrive for years to come. Salary caps must be implemented into professional sports because an equal playing field is enormously important in maintaining the respectable world of professional sports. Plus, all franchises and the fans of those franchises deserve equal chances to win heedless of how big of
Do you think professional athletes are overpaid? You might think they earn more than what they are worth for playing half a year, but athletes have many things which contribute to their salary. Some of these things include their earnings from endorsements, ticket sales, performance, merchandise, their social contributions, and TV ratings. Although there are many factors that contribute to their salary, professional athletes may be overpaid because as a society, we contribute to their success. So, in the end, part of the athlete’s salary comes from the people who support the sports in the first place. These are just some of the reasons why athletes are paid so much money.
Athletes are overpaid by their couches and businesses just for playing in their team’s games and doing commercials. Even after they retire they still make more money than they work for. They are paid millions every year, Shaqeel Oneel made enough money that he could hire builders to make him a full sized basketball court in his basement. Furthermore, Peyton Manning makes about 700 thousand after he retired. Most athletes don’t know how to handle that much money a pro football player bought a Ferrari even though he didn’t know how to drive. Another pro NFL player spent 30 thousand dollars on earrings. Some pro athletes know how to spend money a few athletes invested their money in companies. Other athletes donated to charities and other organizations. Few athletes do
Introduction In the recent years, a big debate has transpired in the realm of college athletics: should college athletes be paid to play? The answer to this question is very complicated and will continue to be debated for years to come. This question has been debated for a long time but has recently become much bigger as more and more people watch games, buy jerseys, and tickets become more expensive; therefore athletic departments are making more money. There are people who have very good arguments for both sides of this dispute.
In “The Ultimate Goal: The Almighty Buck” Frayne writes about different athletes ranging from the MLB player Ruben Sierra to NHL player Kevin Lowe and their different annual salaries. He writes about
In the professional world of sports, the athletes can make more than $100,000 to well over $1,000,000. Earning that amount of money is a dream for many college athletes have when they make it into the professionals. There are college athletes and well-known figures in sports around the country who believe that the athletes should be paid. The athletes should be paid because they claim that the level they play at is close to the pros and that they also bring crowds of fans into their games just like professionals. However, college athletes do not get paid a salary unlike they're professional counterpart, instead they receive scholarships that reduce the amount of money they have to pay for college.
Many different people brought up that collegiate athletes deserve to be paid. The number one supporters of paying the athletes are the athletes themselves. Each athlete dedicates over twenty hours a week just for the sport and don’t earn anything for it (Entman). The only person that truly statistically benefits is the coaches because their pay salries are based on the team’s performance. The college athletes sometimes feel used because other people and organizations are profiting by using these athete’s
College athletes should not be paid six figure salaries each year. Instead, the American people as a whole should recognize the fact that Division 1 universities are generating millions of dollars in profit and still do not want to reward the young men who earn this money for them. It defies all sane logic that an organization “dedicated to the well-being and lifelong success of college athletes” (Jacobs) proudly defends its exploitation of these young men, as sports fans across the country look the other
There are many professional athletes who are overpaid a tremendous amount of money. For example, in 2013 the New York Yankees third basemen Alex Rodriguez’s salary was $29,000,000. Another athlete that was overpaid was the Philadelphia Phillies first basemen Ryan Howard. During the 2011 postseason, he tore his Achilles tendon and had to miss most of 2012 season because he was on the disabled list. He had a salary of $20,000,000 for 2012 and only played 71 games out of 162. Major League Baseball should impose a salary cap on athletes because athletes are being overpaid, they are signing big contracts, and some are not performing well.
Let’s go over what we’ve gotten so far. So first, athletes deserve the money because they have earned it. Their talent is worth a lot money so that's how much they get paid. Next, athletes train and put a lot of their time into the sport that they play.
In today’s society many will argue whether or not professional athletes are overpaid. In the present time athletes are being paid phenomenally large amounts of money for their entertainment. It is my claim that all professional athletes are overpaid because they do not offer society an essential function that improves or enhances our world in comparison to other professionals such as medical doctors, lawyers, and teachers. Society does not value entertainment enough to warrant such high salaries such as those of many professional athletes. There is no reason that these athletes should demand these tremendous amounts of money. This is why you have to put into question their reasoning for demanding
The passages present a discussion about arguments concerning whether or not professional athletes are overpaid. This is an important debate since professional sports represents a multi-billion-dollar-per-year industry. The two positions argue whether or not professional athletes should be paid the large yearly salaries they are paid. Both viewpoints have valid claims warranting consideration. For example, evidence suggests that people with far more important jobs are paid much less than professional athletes; in contrast, opposing evidence suggests that since professional athletes generally have short careers and must train very hard to build and maintain their skills, the higher salary is justified. While both sides of the issue have valid points, the viewpoint that professional athletes are not overpaid is the best-supported position, the position supported by the preponderance of the evidence cited in the passages. The strongest and best reasons supporting this position are that professional athletes must endure grueling and intensive training, they generally have short careers that often end in injury, and the amount that they are thought to be paid is often inflated. Accordingly, these reasons and opposing viewpoints will be discussed next.
