Academia has always been a big part of my life thanks to my loving and supporting parents. Thanks to their constant encouragement and guidance I have performed at the top of my class throughout high school. While taking all available honors and AP classes I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and am ranked first in my class. This past school year, after a difficult application process, multiple interviews, and a speech in front of over two hundred of my peers, I was elected Area 9 DECA President. DECA is a national association that prepares high school students for careers in business. I have also placed first at the Area competition in various DECA events such as Accounting Applications, Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling, Advertising

Throughout Middle School and High School, I have won multiple Academic Honors and was able to partake in a Leadership Group/Camp. In Middle School, I was Honored as the best student in Reading, won many A-Honor Rolls, a few A/B-Honor rolls, and multiple Perfect Attendance Awards. In 8th grade, I was chosen along with many other students to help mentor the 6th graders moving up to the middle school and from there on I became part of a group called “Michigan Middle Leadership Initiative (MMLI)”, where only 10 students were selected to join. Currently, I have maintained a GPA of 3.89 or higher and I’m taking an Advanced Placement course for Environmental Science. Overall, I have a good attendance record and have never been tardy for class before. At the most, I’ll miss about 2 days of school in a trimester if I become ill.

Along with being a diligent student who has been enrolled in 11 Advanced Placement classes, I have also dedicated my time to other causes. For example, I have volunteered at public libraries, Special Olympics events, orphanages for intellectually disabled children, and food pantries. While maintaining a rigorous course load and volunteering, I also work at Kumon. I tutor children to boost their confidences and understanding of concepts vital to their future success. Moreover, I have received membership to The National Honor Society and have been awarded an AP Scholar with Merit Award. My dedication to becoming more culturally aware and five years of enrollment in Spanish classes has allowed me to be inducted into Spanish Honor Society. Within
Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in different professional societies such as the National Society of High School Scholars, Mu Alpha Theta (Math honors society), and Business Professionals of America. My involvement in these societies has made me knowledgeable in the logistics of how to run the society, and have taught me valuable skills such as leadership and collaboration. For logistics, I can help organize events such as fundraising activities or philanthropic events as I am currently on the social committee for Business Professionals of America, which is in charge of organizing social events for my chapter. As an elected member for the social committee, my chapter has shown faith in me for my leadership skills and collaboration skills. Overall, I feel like I can contribute a lot of my skills and knowledge to UIC honors college.
Last year, I received a commendable G.P.A of 4.4. A special attribute that sets me apart is my tendency to work hard. I constantly try to do my best in everything that I do. Throughout high school, I’ve always set a high standard for myself by taking rigorous classes, joining sports and clubs, and maintaining a high GPA. Even if certain classes didn’t have any relation to nursing, club meetings were the day before a large exam, or tennis practice was especially grueling, I still worked hard and put in as much effort as I could. With this type of attitude, I was able to maintain Distinguished Honor Roll and a cumulative 4.08 GPA throughout my high school career. I chose to maintain this attitude during senior year instead of taking it easy, as I was able to gain knowledge and experience that
I have been able to successfully handle a professional career while successfully maintaining a 3.2 GPA. I have also been able to be a role model for my two teenage sons and teenage brother. I feel that I have given them the perception that regardless of what happens in life, if you set my mind to something you can still achieve it. It may be harder but with strong will determination the impossible is possible. I pray that my efforts has given them the initiative they need to continue their education and achieve the goals they have set for
From a very young age I knew I would have to work twice as hard if not more than the average student. I’ve received recognitions and award that reflect this such as, academic distinction, excellence in academics, and the leadership award from my academy. I’ve also received a recognition for leadership and excellence in the fields of academics and diversity from Wichita State University, where I plan on furthering my education as an accounting major.
