I’m very much like him in that way. I believe that everybody should have the right to a fair education. I certainly enjoy learning at my current school, Julia R. Masterman. Masterman has taught me many things that I never thought I would learn. At UCI, I plan to expand my horizons through the variety of clubs and classes there is to offer. Throughout high school, I constantly strived to make a difference in my community and I hope to continue this in college. With plenty of connections and resources, I want to participate in bigger and better service projects. My motivations come from the social interactions I have had in high school. Clubs have allowed me to see the various perspectives of people and how they try to change the circumstances of their community. One reason I would be successful at VCU is because I am a diligent hard worker. In the second grade, my Celiac disease caused me to fall behind in understanding key academia. To catch up, I worked twice as hard, so that when I entered the fourth grade I was caught up. Also, when I entered high school I tried out for the girls' varsity tennis team and was cut. In order to still be part of the team, I became the manager and worked with the coach all year to eventually become a player worthy of being on the team the following year.

My goal while attending this University is to be an example for other minorities who come from harsh upbringings such as myself and show them that with perseverance and hard work you can overcome any challenges you are faced with and accomplish the goal(s) you have in sight. Since I’ve begun my studies, Sacramento State University has provided me with a whirlwind of exciting changes and opportunities in the local community to grow as an adult. I recognize that college isn’t a necessity that aids people in achieving the new American Dream; it helps you individually in stimulating one’s self professionally and personally. Critical thinking and reflection has helped me improve from being a wallflower of an undergraduate to a confident community member and scholar. Universal college is my college of choice because it has the career opportunities that I need to further my major; I hope to contribute in Universal College by taking my leadership skills from my job as an Assistant Manager; I would like to get achieve my goals of getting good grades; I want to take part in voluntary clubs to help give back.
