My father is Saudi and my mother is Egyptian. Living in Saudi Arabia as a Saudi with an Egyptian mother made people treat me as a second-class citizen. I was always “The Egyptian” in Saudi and when I used to go to Egypt I was treated as “The Saudi”. Therefore, I never felt that I belonged in any of the two countries. Because of the hierarchy of nationalities that Saudi Arabia has being Saudi-Egyptian opened a lot of gates to me in terms of meeting people. As Saudis formed groups of friends that are only Saudi I did the opposite. In school most of my friends were internationals. When I came to the US my friends were from all nationalities and races. I am able to connect with people faster and I understood that there’s nothing as a flawless culture.
In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia is the largest arid country (Al-Ibrahim, 1991). The country covers some 80 percent of the Arabian Peninsula (Al-Hamzi, 1992). The area of Saudi Arabia is 2.25 million square kilometers, equivalent (1.4) million square miles (Batayneh, 2012). The total number population in Saudi Arabia is 25.7 million (Al-Shayaa et al., 2012). Saudi Arabia climate is broiling in the summer and chilly in the winter, and Saudi Arabia does not have well-defined season. In addition, Saudi Arabia is waterless country, and it does not have rivers or lakes (Al-Shayaa et al., 2012).
Welcoming parties and communities let me feel connected to my new place and its people but the importance of local identity and building everything around that was a surprise. Many aspects of my identity were strange. The holistic view of Middle East regardless of where I am coming from connects me to a chaotic area. Sometimes when I meet new people, they mistake Iran for Iraq as it has been more on news. People have little information about there except those who have had an Iranian friend. The ancient civilization and Cyrus the Great who make Iranians proud within the country has no meaning in this part of the world. Each nation could enjoy their honors regarding herself the center of the world. Once a friend got a comment in a restaurant, “oh you are Iranian, you don’t look sad and miserable” and the other time I got a comment in the bus “A friend of mine showed me a video about Iran and I was surprised people have a normal life there.” Sometimes times even the compliments turn to a confirmation of

In addition to Afghan mujahidin, people fro other Muslim countries volunteered and one of the prominent figures was Osama bin Laden who came from Saudi Arabia to join mujahidin and fight against the Soviets. Also, fighters from Chechnya rushed to join the Mujahidin movements, the Soviets were officially atheists and detrimental to the Islam at large. The mountainous terrains of Afghanistan, the ethnic and linguistic differences among the mujahidin faction made it difficult for the groups to cooperate. However, by 1985 the corporation between the resistance groups improved and a network of alliance was created the Seven Party Mujahidin Alliance of Peshware Seven. Some of the prominate of the mujahidin commanders was Ahmed Shah Massoud, who was assassinated by the Taliban in 2001.
There are times when a person becomes ill. They tried many different remedies to assist in their illness. A die hard worshipper of God would petition the help from the Father first then seek medical assistance. If the Bible speaks of the many healings that God did before. I would assume that He is capable of doing it again and again. Every situation that we encounter is a test of our faith in the powers of God. Sometimes things may come in a sudden manner and shake the core of our being. But with God as an enter Spirit within us He quickly brings the mine in check with His words and His miracles.
United States has always been described as the land of opportunity and freedom. Most people who visit America are more likely to stay due to its beauty and the opportunities that are available to succeed, so I was confident than I would be spending most of my life here. By the time I got the U.S, school was about to start. I finished 7th grade before I came to the United States, so I was supposed to be in 8th grade once school starts; however, the principle of the middle school that I was going to attend stated that I was too young to advance to 8th grade; therefore, I have to repeat 7th grade. When I started school, I had to face many challenges since I did not speak English. During the first year of school, I have struggled a lot thought out my classes especially in my English class. Since I did not understand English, I did not understand what my teachers were saying so it was impossible for me to complete the assigned tasks and perform well in class. This situation is basically similar to an American student taking advanced Spanish class for the first time and telling him/her to pass the class without knowing any Spanish at
The U.S. involvement in revoking democratically elected president of Iran Mohammed Mossadeq, restoring the Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to power. Mossadeq wanted to nationalize the oil industry while Shah promoted a privatized system. Nationalization would allow Iran, rather than Great Britain, to profit from Iran's natural resource. As a result, the British urged the U.S. to aid the takeover plot.
When thinking of Iran the first thing that comes to most people's mind is a secluded country that supports terrorism located somewhere in the Middle East. However, like every country in the world, there is more than what news and social platforms portray. Iran has many exports some good some bad and there social classes, government, and economy are much similar to those of the United States. Even though there are negative things about Iran you can't hold the entire country accountable. Bad people will do bad things but every citizen should not fall under those perceptions.
In the story, Mangan’s sister is not able to go to Araby. What was Mangan’s sister’s reason for not being able to go to Araby?
I have only one brother, his name is Abdulaziz. He is in the late twenties. Abdulaziz is married since six years and has one child, his name is Abdulmajeed.
Iran had a liberal dictator leader by the name of Muhammad Mossadeq from 1951-1953. He was the first democratically elected Prime Minister in Iranian history with democratic views. Mossadeq was determined to make Iran and free, independent, democratic state who were able to support themselves economically without international leaders “help”. At the time England had established in oil company based in Iran called the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC). Democracy symbolised freedom, an opportunity for the Iranian people to claim what was theirs and build a better country. However the United States did not like this liberalization because if Iran does become strong and independent they will go seek partnership somewhere else and it will not be
According to Isaac Newton, an object will stay at rest unless acted upon by an opposing force when it will begin to move. When the object rejects this force, for a brief moment in time, it is called the moment of inertia, where the object, despite the acting push or pull, remains motionless. Many times, this moment of inertia can be translated into a person’s life as they deal with change, and for some, the moment lasts a life time. Within the collection of short stories entitled Dubliners by James Joyce, the evolution from immaturity to maturity of the main characters begins to show the ultimate timelessness of a paralyzed mentality towards change.
On December 25, 1979, the Soviets invaded. This started a chain reaction which has resulted in a torn country, fighting for freedom from its traditional Muslim government. Soviet Russia invaded in hopes of establishing a communist, and pro-Soviet, regime in Kabul. After the invasion, the Soviet leaders decided to kill the President of Afghanistan at the time; President Amin, because the leaders were afraid that he had connections with the United States. After his murder, the Soviets installed their own leader, President Babrak Karmal, who they controlled for their own desires.
Yemen is a fairly large country located in the southern end of the Arabian peninsula. In the beginning of the 1900s, North and South Yemen were separate countries and were not united until 1990 when they became the Republic of Yemen (Sana’a, Yemen). North Yemen prior to unification was a part of the Ottoman Empire and South Yemen was under the influence of the British.
