Students and Staff have many different opinions on school spirit at Marble Falls Middle School. Some people think we need more spirit while other people think the spirit we have is just right. “If our school had more spirit people would be more positive and happy,” says student, Justin Bowling. “If there is a lot of school spirit it would be overwhelming,” says Isabella Courtney Obviously opinions differ from person to person, however, almost everyone we interviewed on both sides of the spectrum, still had similar ideas on how we could better improve spirit throughout the school, while it still being exciting for the students. Students Genesis Briggs, and Olivia Trahan both said “I think we should have more pep rallies.” Also Assistant
Our school has and will continue to have many great achievers and leaders! We have been filled with a great amount of knowledge and potential. Separately we can move a rock but together we can move mountains. We all did our best and gave outstanding accomplishments to this school. Nevertheless, whether our involvement was by trophies, by knowledge, or even just being a
Schools must have a positive climate and supportive culture in place. Creating a clear mission for all to follow
Measuring and trying to improve campus climate can be difficult and sometimes frustrating. There are many different facets, but when the media reports school leaders in a negative light, the school’s image is affected within the school and the local community. Educational leaders can listen to what people are saying. Some people think there isn't a problem and others feel they are not valued and respected. Cultural proficiency becomes a priority in addressing the concerns of a diverse student population. This can prompt a review of school climate (Developing a Positive School Climate, 2009).
As a leader I envision my school as one where students and teachers come to a place they enjoy entering each day. All share the focus of the school, the belief that all students can become high achievers. Staff is centered on student achievement; no matter what academic level that all students face coming into the classroom. All staff will understand that all children are teachable, even those with learning issues.
I want my school to be a place where everyone feels confident and safe when they enter the building. I have high expectations for all students, and I encourage my staff to challenge students academically. We need to prepare students with 21st- century skills and utilize the different tools in technology. We are a team, and family at
Vince Lombardi once said, “There is only one way to succeed in anything…and that is to give it everything.” Cookeville High School flawlessly represents this when it comes to school spirit. From courageous, young individuals and spirited students to believing that students and athletes can achieve anything they set their minds to, CHS is an outstanding example of school spirit.
I came from over four hours away to be a part of this campus that boasts such a beautiful setting and friendly community. However, our school spirit is sometimes lacking in comparison to nearby schools, such as UT Knoxville. This is evident from attendance at sports games and how many people are wearing our school colors around campus. I believe one way to improve this is to demonstrate our spirit by showing enthusiasm for UTC and its various sports and activities, so that others will follow suit. I also believe communication is very important in getting students informed and excited about the events we have going on and promoting them through events such as pep
Some schools seriously lack school spirit. It doesn’t just show in support, but it drastically affects academics and attendance. Schools with lower school spirit have been found to do worse in school and have lower attendance rates. Low school spirit also affects extracurricular clubs and sports teams. School spirit needs to be a priority in schools because the effects are positive.
School spirit tends to be a more complex and involved concept than wearing colors on Fridays and attending occasional football games in the fall - it’s ingrained into new students the moment they step foot onto campus, whether they like it or not. If or how it manifests is up to the individual, but school pride could be compared to a disease, one that bleeds into the neurological system and remains hidden until a student who typically cares little for their school is defending it like nobody’s business against someone who has challenged it. On that account, it’s nearly incontrovertible that Cooper City High School has the most contagious case of school spirit in Broward County. It’s our core and our very essence; if one word was to be
Challenging my fellow classmates to become a part of something exciting and unique. Fostering and elevating school spirit by involvement in events on and off campus. Encouraging students to become active in making their society a better place through service to others, placing good and positive energy into the universe can be immeasurable and contagious. Volunteerism is not about giving away something for nothing – it’s about mutual growth through providing assistance and help to other people. We need to engage in community service projects that are a win/win for both the precipitants and students. School spirit starts with higher expectations of one’s self and surroundings, pushing for positive changes not only at the university, and community
For all students to achieve self-actualization (Chance, 2009), I must provide them with a safe, positive and nurturing environment that is conducive for learning and that makes them feel they belong and are accepted as individuals. As a school leader, it is also essential that I encourage a school culture that celebrates diversity and tolerance by showing respect and trust among one another as a result of positive relationships and open
Through my life I have always been encouraged to figure things out on my own and through trial and error, success or failure, I have always come to the conclusion that teamwork, positivity and, hardwork are the most important attributes to have in any situation or walk of life. I would make a great addition to the Lacrosse family, and I would always work to make the the university a better place for me and my peers. I have always been a positive and motivated individual in every aspect of my life. I have found that this positivity is extremely contagious and, it can help others not only just be happier in general but also perform better in school, work, or any other activity. This attitude is very helpful in adverse situations where having a positive outlook on them helps leads to the perseverance
I have always wanted to go to a school with kids who have lots of school spirit. My participation with my school is very high. I help volunteer with my school by being manager of the girls Junior Varsity volleyball team and i'm also the manager of the boys Junior Varsity basketball team. I was also a part of my 8th grade school flag football team. We won the championship and i was recognized by my teammates and coaches as the player with the most sportsmanship as well as the most improved player.
Many colleges set themselves apart whenever they adopt different sports and the school spirit that goes along with it. Mottos, school colors, and a mascot unite the students and embody the school’s spirit. When a student exhibits pride in their school they are more likely stay in school longer, get better grades, and become alumni. With all these benefits it is hard to see why Madisonville community college does not have sports or school spirit. Dr. Jay Parrent, dean of student affairs, has assigned my group to find out if school should adopt a motto, school colors, and a mascot. We propose that Madisonville Community College adopt a school motto, school colors, and a mascot which would increase
As I continue to mold a vision for leading, I persist on how I would create a school that promotes learning for all students and how important human connection and the overall human interactions are in creating an environment that has healthy teachers and students. Our school systems have created a lot of stress with teachers and students reaching standardized test scores, the new teacher evaluation system and other bureaucratic guidelines.
