One plan is for conservation, or reduction in use. People can do such things as walking to their destination if feasible, or taking a bicycle, they can also share rides with their friends or co-workers who happen to live close by. Another strategy that can be employed is energy efficiency, use lower wattage bulbs in light fixtures, or fluorescent bulbs would be even better. Keep the thermostat set at a reasonable temperature or open windows when the weather permits. It is believed that conservation and efficiency are the best way to approach our energy uses, while other solutions can be developed. Conservation and efficiency also help our environment by not emitting as much C02 into our air, thereby decreasing our effect on global warming. Home energy production should be affordable for all, if everyone was hooked up to be self sufficient (when weather was right), then the overage of the energy they produced would be sent to the electric company for others to use. One challenge to home energy production would be that the electric companies would not make as much money, and perhaps some of the technicians would no longer be needed, so they would lose their jobs. However they could seek employment with one of the many new renewable energy companies that will crop up. We should also start
Global warming has become an undisputed fact about our current livelihoods; our planet is warming up and we are definitely part of the problem. However, this isn’t the only environmental problem that we should be concerned about. All across the world,
One way that a simple person could start to help is by buying food locally. This would cause less pollution from factories and greenhouse gases from products drove or flown in. Furthermore, pay the bills online to help conserve trees. This could save 18.5 million trees every year. Along with this it could remove 2.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide/ other gases while getting rid of 1.7 billion pounds of solid waste. Lastly, a person could go about adjusting the thermostat a degree lower than what the temperature is outside in the winter and adjusting it a degree higher in the summer to save 10 percent on energy

As I acknowledged earlier, heating is the highest percentage of usage in the home, however homeowners can take steps towards reducing that. For example, buying a heater or two can definitely help in reducing the use of heat. The second highest electric usage in homes is cooling, which can also be reduced if homeowners invest in a fan, leave windows open, or even install a ceiling fan. Buying both heaters and/or fans may be a bit pricey but worth it in the long run. Another thing that ups the electric cost is the use of electronics and appliances. Today, our society revolves around electricity. We leave the television on in an empty room, leave on the computer when we don’t use it, etc., consequently raising the electric price. We also rely on many appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, blow dryers, etc., which also raise the price. By simply remembering to turn off the television when leaving the room and also turning off the computer when not in use will help reduce the electricity cost. Also, chargers for laptops and cell phones, consume energy when they are plugged in even when they are not in use, and should be unplugged. Over the last several decades, global climate change has been scientifically proven to be a result of human activity (“Carbon Dioxide Emissions”). Industrial processes, fossil fuel combustion, and changes in land use have altered the balance of greenhouse gases (GHG’s) in the Earth’s atmosphere. (City of New York et al. 2013) By increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide and other GHG’s in Earth’s atmosphere, our modern society is gradually warming the planet and altering its climate (“Carbon Dioxide Emissions”). Most recently, a March 2012 study found that climatic changes resulting from a warming planet have already increased the frequency of extreme weather events, “most notably heat waves and precipitation extremes” (“Carbon Dioxide Emissions”). As New York experienced not too long ago with Hurricane Sandy, the Earth’s climate and weather patterns have responded to such changes, with increases in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, loss of animal and plant species, impacts to human health, disruption of ecosystems, and other effects (City of New York et al. 2013) Such effects of human-induced climate change present potential threats to the infrastructure, economy, and health of not only New York City but the entire U.S.

The main reasons for Global Warming is pollution. One of the main reason are pollution is fuels like fossil fuel. To stop Global Warming the United States and other countries are not using fossil fuels and other fuels that cause pollution. Those fuels are bad for peoples' health. Also, another way is to get more job in the industries, try to stop air pollution by carpooling. (http://www.ucsusa.org/) The best thing to reduce emission is not to waste energy. People can use less heat. People use less gas. People need to take a shorter shower because they do not want to use too much hot water because the hot water heater is one largest electricity. Humans today are using much more electricity than we need to in our houses and this is impacting our world more then we realise. Although electricity is a huge advantage to humans it has the complete opposite effects on our environment. By using more electricity, we are using more of the earth’s resources and if we keep going down this road then we are going to run out. The solution for this mass overuse of energy is to build houses which are more energy efficient. Features like LED lightbulbs, insulating and even positioning your house in the correct position for natural airflow instead of using air conditioning are all ways we can help improve this problem.
