I had my ups and downs through out my self-change project, which was to turn off the water when I brushed my teeth, to shorten my shower times and turn off the water, and to use a reusable water bottle. I struggled the most with turning off the water, when I brushed my teeth I just keep forgetting to do it. Towards the middle I was able to turn off the water more, but I did notice that during work where I have limited time and I am in a hurry I keep forgetting. Towards the end, I was more successful. With the shortening of my showers, I first took my base of almost half a hour. What I help me the most was that I was running late one day and I notice that it took me about 10 minutes (which allowed me to see that this was doable). Then,
For my business, I decided to open up an up-scale designer clothing store. In the city I live, we have a good amount of clothing stores but almost all are found at the local malls. I plan to find a large unit that’s surrounded by many businesses along with steady traffic flow.

When it comes to facing challenging obstacles in both my professional and personal life I utilize the self-management strategy of “sleeping on it”. By sleeping on a challenging obstacle this creates time, patience, and provides clarity. As many, I can be very indecisive on decisions that have a big effect on my life, but I find that giving myself an extra day, week, or month to digest the situation before making a decision helps me stay in control. Time helps with self-management because it brings clarity and perspective to the thousands of indecisive thoughts swimming through my head when something is important. (Bradberry & Greaves,
My project began when I was first handed the self-change contract and had to ask myself “What do I really need to improve.” After a lot of thought and self-reflection, I thought that to boost my grades, improve my work ethic, and make things easier for myself I needed to improve my procrastination in regards to my studying and dedication. The first step was to identify everything about the problem. I took some time got a sheet of paper and made essentially a mind map without knowing what it was at the time.) I broke procrastination down and discovered that at least for me the two big things that were causing my procrastination were the “I can do it later” attitude, and the perceived difficulty of tasks. So after identifying the main issues, I had to figure out what I was going to do about it.
I chose to do my behavior change project on improving my diet. I put my own little twist on it with the way I measured my success and I had to supplement it to reach my goals, but I feel that it was done really well. My goal was at the end of the four weeks to be able to run 3.1 miles in 18:45. I have run times close to this before, but that was a couple of years ago. At the beginning of this project my time for 3.1 miles was 20:36. I knew that if I was committed and worked really hard that I would be able to do it though. I chose to measure my behavior change this way due to the fact that I have a very busy life and I am on the high school cross country team. I figured I would already be running each week and I have a race every week that I can measure my time against my goal. So I was just trying to save some time in my schedule by partially combining two activities.
While behavior change isn't easy, it can be made more manageable through the use of effective time management and scheduling. I have a bad habit in the form of procrastination, and I tended to procrastinate and postpone a lot of things in my life, including the activities I undertook for my behavior change project. By taking part in this project, I have learned that in order to accomplish my goals and fulfill my obligations, I need to set times aside for doing my different activities. By applying this attitude to both the project and other aspects in my life, I have managed to mitigate my procrastination and accomplish my objectives in a timelier
This past summer, I realized that I was getting a lot more exercise compared to the school year. Aside from the occasional basketball, volleyball, or run, I do not have a set schedule or exercise regularly. As a result, I found the Behavioral Change Project the perfect opportunity to set the goal for myself of being more physically fit by exercising daily. To do so, I aimed to either play sports (basketball or volleyball) for at least 1 hour or run at least 1 mile (which includes 5 minutes of stretching beforehand) as my daily exercise. Having the objectives established beforehand made it clear to me what I needed to do to reach my goal. I also wrote down goal-facilitating behaviors (planning to run with others, to work and study effectively
In the last module, we learned about how and why trauma bonds are formed by an exploiter or an abuser. We also learned a bit about identifying the presence of a trauma bond. Once a trauma bond is identified, it is important to provide support for the client. In this module, we will learn about the Stages of Change Model. The stages of change is useful in assessing where your client is, and inspiring and tracking progress.
Our class is filled with students who all have different personalities and interests, so it would only seem fitting if the Crossdisciplinary Projects varied from person to person. These set of presentations were very interesting and entertaining to watch. From Danielle’s “Sweet Little Babies,” to Tyler’s demonstration on “How to Slay a Dragon,” they were all great. However, only one of the projects really stood out to me and it was James’ song based on John Donne’s sonnets. I am a person who really enjoys music, so it is no surprise that I would choose between Kaylee and James’ projects. Kaylee did a wonderful job setting Shakespeare’s sonnet to music, but I had to choose James’ project as my favorite because it sounded like the type of music
My experience in this course has given me a boarder knowledge on how to implement a change project. Performance improvement projects are used to create a safe and efficient delivery of care to patients.
I want to start of by mentioning, it looks like i’m not an average american. My showers are 30 minutes long. The reason my showers are so long is because I like to listen to music and just reflect on how my day went. I usually find my self taking showers anywhere from 11pm-3am. Those hours are very late and I often feel every tired before I shower, but thanks to my reticular formation which is responsible for consciousness I don't fall asleep in the shower.
The Trans theoretical Model (TTM), or Stages of Change Model, formulated by Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente, is a bio-psychosocial model used to conceptualize the process of behavioral change in an individual. It evolved from studies comparing the experiences and outcomes of individuals who quit smoking due to individual decisions and actions, to those who required further treatment and program attendance to quit smoking (Lamorte, W., 2016). This highly credible, and useful model seeks to incorporate key constructs from various theories into an understandable theory of change, which is applied in Public Health to multiple populations, behaviors, and situations where individuals seek to better their physical, emotional, and or even social health.
In various sports around the world, discovering the worthiest and most gifted individuals to embark on the journey of becoming an elite level athlete is no small feat. For many organizations in sport, this process known as talent identification (TI), is based on the evaluations of often very young individuals’ potential, and whether or not the attributes they possess can be groomed to produce success in later years. With the ever growing demand to watch a winning team, owners are pressured to find an attraction with low investment and high reward. The efficiency of this talent assessment provides teams with the commercial benefit of recruiting youth at very young ages, eventually selling them for massive transfer fees. Therefore, the use of such programs have tremendous impact on the overall sporting experience and careers of many young players, stressing the need to understand the fundamentals of talent identification not just on a business level, but also with regards to youth involvement in sport.
With our main research question we aim at exploring the importance of effective change management and the characteristics of a successful change management program in a hospital. The main research question can be formulated as: To what extend is change management necessary and how can it most efficiently be implemented in a hospital?
The participants for the EBP change project will be recruited for 4 weeks prior to the EBP change project during patient follow up appointments, new patient visits and sick visits. A recruitment flyer will be attached to every patient checking in sheet at the EBP change project site and flyers will be posted throughout the waiting room and examination rooms. If participants are interested in learning room about the EBP change project, a cover letter will be available at the front desk for further information. The cover letter would explain the EBP change project in great details, including information about purpose of the EBP change project, expected outcomes, time commitment, requirements for participation and also have the project manager
