I realized that the British Americans were unfair to their own country, England. The reason why I am saying this is because, it’s only fair for the British to ask the colonies in the Americas for the tax because they have been receiving financial assistance, troops, warships, weapons, and so on. Not only that, these British colonies that have already settled in the Americas have their own land for farming and livestock, and some of them are small shop owners. Meaning, these colonies in the Americas can finance themselves for war, maybe not much but they can since they sold and trade their goods with the British. I would say that at least they pay gratitude to their motherland so that it will be fair for those people in England that are paying taxes more than they could afford. …show more content…
Instead of following orders from the one who sent them, they created a new agenda that only benefited them. The selfishness that built up while the British Americans are making and striving their own in the Americas created tension with the Native Americans that originally inhabited the land. The greed of acquiring more land caused a lot of bloodshed towards the Native Americans and the colonizers. With a sole purpose of becoming rich and having a better life compared to who they were in England, these people started slavery or what they call “indentured servants” to work for
The British had sent more than 10,000 troops to North America by the end of the French and Indian War. The British felt like they had spent a great deal of money in protecting the American colonists. They were in debt around 140 million pounds. To pay off all of their debt the British decided to increase the enforcement of existing taxes on the Colonists and impose additional taxes. The British issued The Proclamation of 1763 which meant the colonists couldn’t cheat the Indians out of land. They also establish a border in where they could not buy land. This made the colonist mad because it made them feel like the British were interfering and trying to limit their economic growth.
The United States blamed the British for its abuses on its oceans and Native American resistance in the west. To begin with, the British and French were at war during the 1810s, or the Napoleonic Wars. The British began taking sailors from American ships and forcing them to serve their country, in a process called impressment, to infuriate the U.S. and because the British were in desperate need for more sailors to prepare their incoming massive fleet. The British supported Native Americans in their land resistance in the west. For example, the British provided ammunition and supplies to the Native Americans, led by Little Turtle, to defeat Washington’s American force. Again, the British supplied the Native Americans to crush General Arthur
In 17th Century, British sent explorers to America and set up the first colony, Jamestown which is in America. Even a large number of people sacrificed in the New World, British still continued delivering more and more people to develop and organize the colony. After 1763, when British won the French-Indian war, British wanted to impose tax policies on colonies because British needed to fix their economy because of war. So British keep published new laws to forced colonists tax. All those laws and tyranny outraged colonists, so they decides to against Britain.
Colonist disliked the British very much, they were known at the Britain subjects but decided to identify themselves as Americans. Who can blame them? The British took advantage of these colonists, and they decided to rip away from British rule. In the process they made changes in politics, religion and economy to enhance their passion for being American.
Britain attempted to gain control over the colonial Americas by trying to rule over the colonies to grow a bigger militia, even though the British had already had a huge army, and also have a larger trading system, so their income could rise. So they started to get acts to pass, so the colonies would follow the British leader. The acts that were passed in this time period to gain control we’re the Intolerable acts which were first known as the coercive acts, then the stamp act, the tea act. It was all done so the British could gain the greater control. The British even at one point we’re going to have the slaves fight for them, just to show that they were strong, and weren’t afraid of the slaves, for Example, the French and Indian war ( the
The British just made money. People were starting to get very upset and protest. The British government sent soldiers to try to control the colonist, but the patriots took
Both the British and the American colonists contributed to causing the American Revolution. The war grew out of contempt: England’s contempt for the colonies and colonial contempt for British policies. A series of actions by the British eventually pushed the colonists over the edge and towards independence. The results of the war gave many citizens a new role in society while others, like slaves, felt no change at all. This paper will examine the specific causes and effects of the American Revolution.
Between 1754 and 1763, Britain and French were involved in the French and Indian War, which was a territorial dispute between Britain and France. With the help of the British-American colonists, Britain was able to maintain and increase its borders in America, but the funds needed to support the war caused Britain to go into debt (“French and Indian War/Seven Years' War 1754-1763” 1). Not willing to tax its own citizens any further, Britain decided to tax the American colonies more in order to generate revenue. Before the war, American colonists were paying a fraction of the taxes than those living in Britain, and even after the imposed taxes, the average American would pay less taxes than the average Englishman (“British Acts on Colonial America” 1).
War never truly has one person or side at fault; each front brings something to the table. Nevertheless, the American Revolution is a conflict that raises major debate over who to blame. The American colonies were at a standstill. How could a new nation grow with such a controlling mother country always on its back? As a result of the French Indian War, the British had to pay for their colonies war debts. For England to pay for these debts, Parliament imposed multiple harsh taxes and acts on colonists. Millions of British pounds used to fund the war were expected to be returned to Great Britain. Why does a British colony have to pay England for a war that the British were fighting in the first place? After some consideration, the
The British were responsible for causing the American Revolution because they put unfair limitations on the colonies. One of Great Britain’s limits on the colonies was the Proclamation of 1763. The Proclamation of 1763 states that the colonies can not expand their reign west of the Appalachian Mountain and the Indians could not move east towards the East Cost (Hakim 36). Britain was scared that as the colonies grew in population and in power, along with the Indians and French that were in the New World, that they would not be able to contain all of them (Hakim 36). Britain was scared that the Colonies would continue to grow in power and the risk of overthrowing Britain was an immanent threat (Class notes). Britain thought it was best to put these limitations on the colonies to prevent that from happening. The people in the colonies were forced to stay east of the Appalachians without a say from their Colonial Assemblies. This upset the colonies and they sent letter after letter to Great Britain to try to break this law but Britain would not give the colonies any say. Britain was not the only person to blame. The colonies acted immaturely to this proclamation. The colonists thought that land was perfectly fine and did not care much about the British demand. When the colonies did not follow Britain rules, Britain was upset and created taxes on the colonies. This downward spiral continued until the colonies and Great Britain were at each others throats. They kept going back and
The British Colonists traveled over into the New World for society to work out in their own favor. However, this was not the case for these colonists; they carelessly came into the New World with the intent of having their own freedom of religion, being culturally intertwined with the natives already, and for their own overall independence economically . The British did not make a smooth transformation into this New World when they first arrived over seas, they brought chaos not only to the Natives but also the development of their colonies and themselves.
Have you ever felt like your parents made unfair rules that you had to obey? Or, say, maybe your younger siblings did something to you or caused trouble and you wanted to get revenge, but you were afraid you would get in trouble? Well, travel back in time to around the late 1760s and the early 1770s in the American Colonies. The sun is shining outside, but not inside the colonists. They are angry and their stomachs are growling. For revenge. Back up a couple years. The French and Indian War just ended. Britain won, but it was costly. They're short on food, have lost lots of troops, and have lost some money. After this, King George’s mindset is, Hey, let’s tax the colonists extra so that they're paying for the war cost and the British don't
The unfair world the British brought upon the colonist. The British were in control, taking over, and making all the rules. Things were made to benefit the British while the colonist were left to sink. Many acts were passed against the colonist and the colonist were restricted from having certain rights. The founding fathers were justified in rebelling against the British government and declaring independence because of the way the British treated the colonist.
Inequality has been a major issue in the Colonial Virginia and it was originated within a hierarchy of race, gender, and social class that already existed in the mother country of England.
Decades following the Revolutionary War and the Declaration of Independence, America continued to face challenges in their young country. Tensions with the British, as well as Native Americans, led to more struggles for America. The British failed to recognize the United States of America as a separate and free country, and by enlisting the help of frustrated Native Americans they continued to be a sore within America. They believed they had rights to some parts of land in western Florida, they joined forces with Native Americans when Americans decide to move westward, and worst of all they continued to impress Americans onto British ships because of problems with trade.
