Senioritis entails the increase of laziness and the decrease of motivation. These students often wear an excessive amount of sweatpants and sweatshirts because putting on real clothes requires effort. The lack of studying and unexcused absences becomes the cause of declining grades. These students usually have a dismissive attitude and can’t be bothered with anything or anyone.
This assignment will explore the effect of the long term condition dementia. It will focus on a service user who has recently been admitted onto an assessment ward and their family. It will explore the nurse’s role and how they will support and manage the patient’s illness. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (2015) state that individual’s rights to confidentiality must be respected at all times, therefore all names mentioned in this assignment have been changed to maintain confidentiality.
Urban Dictionary states that Senioritis is “a crippling disease that strikes high school seniors. Symptoms include: laziness, an over-excessive wearing of sweatpants, athletic shorts, and sweatshirts. Also features a lack of studying, repeated absences, and a generally dismissive attitude. The only known cure is a phenomenon known as Graduation.”
When I was 8 years old, the thoughts running through my mind should have been like any other 8 year old girl: going home to play my brand new Nintendo DS or playing house with my little sister. Reality was, I wasn’t a normal little girl. I was the girl whose life got turned upside down in a matter of minutes. No matter how much anyone tried to tell me, I knew a normal 8 year olds life didn’t include being surrounded by doctors 24/7.
First, it’s the one tardy that rolls off your back like it’s no big deal, and then another and another. It goes on and on until you’re not allowed to come to school anymore because your principal told you that it seems like you don’t care anymore. You miss so many assignments and you’re too far behind, the days keep adding up. If seniors skip their senior year they miss opportunities they can’t receive elsewhere. You don’t get help with college options and scholarships, you spent your whole life to get there, and you don’t get to experience the senior memories you make while in high school.
notable changes occur between the ages of 50 and 60. Some physical changes can be postponed
High school students can be grouped into three categories: overachievers, underachievers and those who appreciate a healthy school-life balance. Overachievers go above and beyond their teachers’ assignments, perfecting every detail of every sentence they write. However, contrary to popular belief, an overachiever is not always the most intelligent student in the class. Overachievers have tendencies to add unnecessary material to their work, just to exceed the required word count. Overachievers may also be sleep deprived or anxious because of their “workhorse” nature. On the complete opposite of the spectrum are the underachievers, those who do the bare minimum of what is required of them. These are the people you see in the cafeteria copying
There is room for improvement in the education system, particularly in high schools across the United States. As university entry becomes more selective with the number of applicants rising each year, students are responding by working to make their qualifications more competitive. The emphasis on students’ achievements and grades causes detriment to their mental and physical health.
2006). They may also enroll in coursework that exceeds their intellectual or cognitive abilities simply because taking a mathematics class or a physics course looks good on paper (Cote & Levine, 1997). The resulting lack of success in grades or in degree completion stunts the student’s confidence and sense of achievement (Gordon, 1985; Lemons & Richmond, 1987; Margolis, 1976; Tierney, 2000).
Meningitis occurs when the meninges (a thin lining that surrounds the brain and spinal cord) shows inflammation (swelling). The meninges consist of three layers. They are the dura, arachnoid, and pia. The inflammation is caused by an infection that has penetrated the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. When this occurs the brain is now venerable to attack by bacteria, viruses, and others. As a result of these attack, the brain could have sustained damage which cannot be repaired. The inflammation in an enclosed space such as inside the skull or spinal also damages or kills healthy cells. There are five different types of meningitis. Those five types are viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and non-infectious. Viral and bacterial are the two most common type of meningitis. This paper is about one type of bacterial meningitis called meningococcal meningitis. Meningococcal meningitis is caused by a Neisseria meningitides also called meningococcus, which is a bacterium. Meningococcal meningitis is terminal if left untreated it can cause severe brain damage and about half of the time death would occur but with proper treatment potential and severe complications or even death could still be the outcome. Analyzing the etiology, transmission, symptoms, diagnosing, treatment, and prevention of meningococcal meningitis.
There are many different reasons why an individual would suddenly begin to feel worried and become burdened by their education. Some may be about how their peers appear to be excelling in their courses while they themselves are doing rather poorly which causes them to overwork themselves to achieve higher success however leaving them tired and weary though their peers are thinking the same idea about one another as Zinsser states “I had a freshman student I’ll call Linda,” one dean told me, “who came in and said she was under terrible pressure because her roommate, Barbara, was much brighter and studied all the time. I couldn’t tell her that Barbara had come in two hours earlier to say the same thing about Linda” (Zinsser 454).
Australia, like numerous countries throughout the world, has an imminent aged care crisis. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (2012) reports that there are 3.22 million people aged 65 years or older, or 14% of the population, and this number is expected to double over the next 45 years. The effect of the elderly living longer is that the occurrence of illness and disabilities, as well as recovery time, is increased (Lovell, 2006). Associated with this is the increase in demand for health care resources, and the negative stereotype of the elderly being an economic burden (Lovell, 2006). The stereotype of the elderly being frail is perpetuated by the media’s promotion of youth and vitality, as well as the biased reporting of the negative
An abundant amount of students in the classroom struggle when it comes testing or large assignments as a result of worrisome of the large grades or the pressure of impressing the state and administrators. The government is striving to educate the students, but yet the lack of motivation is causing these students to have anxiety of failing. According to
Our modern educational system creates an environment that does not allow students to fully obtain their full academic potential. The system is creating an unequal playing field for people in the lower class. Also, students struggle in the future when they have classes that are primarily based around test-taking that benefit the school more than the students. These problems need to be addressed in order to produce more prepared graduates that are actually excited to go to school and learn what they really want to. The American school system is very disturbed by these problems because it compromises the success of the students’ futures. In conclusion, major issues affecting students the most include segregation, test scores, and boredom in the classroom.
School is a melting pot of people. Everyone is different, which means that everyone has different ways of learning. Although different, there are similarities among students which leads them to fit into three different classifications. These three classifications are the overachievers, academically average students, and the underachievers or slackers. Admittedly, these categories are heavily influenced by media’s portrayal of different students but can still be useful when evaluating what kind of person each student is.
I was young when it happened. I was not terribly young-not young enough to garner the same sympathy that a child would receive if that situation would occur, but it was horrible regardless of my age. All I knew- all that I could comprehend at that moment in time, was that I was young. Far too young to get anything dangerous if left untreated; thought I was too young to get anything that was permanent. While, according to the Healthy Caribbean Coalition, almost half of chronic disease deaths occur in people under 70 years of age and a quarter under 60, the myth that old people were the primary targets of disease regardless of lethality is present to this day. The myth that old people are the primary targets of disease is still prevalent to this day; as such, I had this mentality as well. Although my disease affects my age bracket on average, as it affects those that are between 15 and 30 (often peaking later between 50 and 60), the numbers gave little comfort at the time.
