Much like Seral Gilmer, my parents made their living in the textile industry until the closure of my father’s plant in 2007. Despite being laid off, my father continued to make my education a priority and started his own business to support my family. He has instilled in me the importance of not only education, but also of integrity and perseverance. I too plan to open a business someday and give back to the community that made me who I am. With the Seral Gilmer scholarship I hope to further my education so I can achieve just that. Thank you.
I came from the public schools district in Philadelphia, where they didn’t have enough money for books and computers to prepare student for the competitive world. That made me realize there is more to this world than Philadelphia. I know there are more opportunities for minorities. When I reach my dream goal in life I will return to my city to give back. Many college graduates want an education, to support them after graduation. They want to enjoy the profession they have chosen. This scholarship will impact my perception on organizations that help young minorities grow to their full potential. Understanding that organizations does seek out students that work hard and want it for themselves, is something that inspires me to want to do the same. I want students to know that as long as you work hard in school, get excellent grades, and want more in life for yourself, that you can achieve any goal that they

I was awarded the Drexel Liberty Scholarship in 2015, but today, while reflecting on my college career, I am more appreciative of your donation than ever before. The past couple of months have not been the easiest for my family and I, but thanks to your donation, my financial standing at Drexel was not an additional burden. Furthermore, this scholarship has given me the privilege to advanced my education in my dream school and enjoy the perks of being a Drexel student, such as co-op.
National Honor Society is more than a club I am apart of, it has given me the motivation to strive to keep my grades at a certain level, keep up with community service, treat others with respect, and also conduct myself in a mature manner. The National Honor Society Scholarship would help fund my schooling at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida.
As upcoming high school seniors, many such as myself, desire scholarships in order to alleviate the financial burden that attending a university can bring. Though this considerable and generous scholarship prize money will be used to further my education at Texas A&M University, my main wish is to bring pride and satisfaction to my family. As a first generation student, I am humbled by the opportunity of obtaining an education in America. Since my parents were migrants from Vietnam and Hong Kong, a successful life here was unheard of many years before. Financial strains do occasionally plague our lives, however, we have not forgotten the strenuous hard work and sacrifice that my parents have conquered in order to put their two daughters through
I would like to express my thanks to the Buster Bynum Education Scholarship for allowing me the opportunity for financial assistance through your scholarship program. Being the second child in my family to attend college, I know that college can be expensive. At the age of seventeen, I am the youngest of six children. I learned from my family that they will give me all the love in the world, but when it comes to money I have to earn it. For the past three years I’ve earned my gas and spending money working a part-time job laying sod for Mid-South Enterprises LLC. I am confident that my parents will help as much as they possibly can financially, but with the assistance from scholarships my out of pocket tuition cost can be less.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GENEROUS SCHOLARSHIP, I am now one-step closer to achieve of my goal.
Throughout highschool I have grown as a person. Three words I would use to describe myself as would be friendly, caring, and positive. My mom has always taught me to include everyone in everything. This is the main reason why I am so friendly. Whenever I see someone sitting alone at lunch, or even walking to class alone, I am the type of person to go up to them and talk to them to make sure they know they are always welcomed to join me. Two things I try to accomplish everyday are telling everyone good morning and giving everyone at least one complement. I love doing this because you never know when someone can be having a bad day and the one compliment you give them can change their whole day around. I would also say
What this scholarship would provide for me is not just a viable boost in self-confidence and euphoric relief from the stress of student loans, but also an official change in direction. A change that will not only allow me to fulfill my desires of being different,
As Confucius once said “Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure.” For me, this quote applies itself for my preparing for college. Getting ready to apply to college is a process that started the first day of my freshman year, and there are a lot of things I need to do to pursue my dreams.
I deserve to be selected for the Jordan Hackett Memorial Scholarship because as a hard-working student, I will commit myself to effectively take advantage of the opportunity that this scholarship will provide me. As a student, I not only persistently work hard academically but also try to improve my work ethic and people skills. I believe education is the key to success, and I try to connect my passion for education with my desire for helping others. As a result, I have decided to pursue a career as a neonatal nurse practitioner. I wish to get the opportunity to bring life into this world and care for the sick newborns to the best of my ability.
I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude for being a recipient of the Mary A. and Frank J. Hren Memorial Endowed Scholarship. I am grateful for the financial opportunity this award has provided me. Attending Carlow University has been a dream that I would have never thought would be possible. Because of your scholarship, I am now in my second semester of the RN to BSN program.
I believe I am uniquely qualified to become a recipient of the Matteson rotary scholarship. I am a dedicated, hardworking student who made a commitment to “Service above Self,” something the Rotary stands for. Attending a college prep charter high school, where extracurricular activities are encouraged, I became an active member of the student council - elected student council president in my junior and senior years, inducted into the National Honor Society, became a member of the InterAct Community Service Club, member of the Dance Team, member of the Media Club, Captain of the Track, Cross-Country and Basketball teams, maintained a 3.9 GPA, and all while playing a key role in organizing social, cultural and community events for the school, and leading group meetings for the various organizations.
