Two out of three people are discriminated everyday. “Giving someone equal rights does not infringe or take away rights from them, it just makes it illegal to enforce your prejudice and hate.” British statesman and philosopher Edmund Burke once said, “Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.” He also said, “All that’s necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing.” During the Cherokee Indian Removal, the Cherokee Indians were forced to be removed by the U.S. troops because of discovery of gold leading them to be removed, and discrimination towards the Cherokees.

Injustices in this world infect people's lives like diseases. One in particular has not only developed over the years, but cases spring up in the most unthought of places. This injustice commonly known as sexual harassment affects women, children, and occasionally men all across the globe. From the beginning of time the male and female have been expected to perform certain roles in society. Males have been expected to work and provide for their family while the female raises the children, cooks, cleans and keeps the house in order. Today many women have broken that tradition and are starting their careers and becoming more independent. Even though females today are braking away from that stereotype, they are being discriminated in the work place because there are still individuals out there that believe that women should play a certain role and that they are not strong enough to work in a cooperation or
Sexual harassment in the workplace is a huge problem in recent history. It can happen to anyone and it can happen everywhere. It can affect all types of races, gender and age. Statistics today shows that more and more sexual harassment has become an issue due to the large number of cases presented. Another form of sexual harassment is a hostile work environment. The hostile environment theory involves sexual advances between the supervisor and the employee. An employee’s work performance will be less effective due to these so-called sexual advances. However, a victim can file a complaint against their harasser so that they do not continuously force them to participate. Consequently, they will be forced to hand in their resignation. Sometimes, sexual harassment causes an individual from effectively performing his/her job. As a result, is undermines an individual’s dignity. In our society, there are three essential factors that relate to the issue of sexual advances. These elements are a divergence of perceptions, the complexity of human behavior and the attitudes of a sexist.]
Sexual harassment is an uninvited and unwelcome verbal or physical behavior of a sexual nature, especially by a person in authority toward a subordinate, as per the Merriam-Webster dictionary. This behavior is present in a large number in our societies and we can see such situations at many places, from every day workplaces to daily encounters. A person can be harassed in different manners and it has several consequences on the victims. Sexual assault is still a concern in our daily life and has yet to be generally recognized and it should be prevented.
It’s obviously a problem in universities, financial industry and the U.S. navy where the majority of workers are men. For female to expect an equal treatment in the workplace like that is utopian. Today sexual harassment occurs at an alarming rate. Statistics show that anywhere from 50-90% of women well experience some form of it. And we are talking only about reported cases. Many cases go unreported because women are afraid to tell, if they do they may loose their jobs, become emotionally wasted, blame themselves, get blackmail or threats by coworkers and employees+ they are not always supported by other women (who think that harassment was caused by a provocating behavior).
