As the Joad family progresses on their journey through the country, the characters transform and develop along with the plot. One character in particular has the largest transformation, where their whole personality changes, being Rose of Sharon. In the beginning of the novel, Rose of Sharon would only spend time with Connie, and he would be the only person she had real concerns for. Whenever she would speak it would be selfish, or relating to Connie. One quote that demonstrates the selfishness that Rose of Sharon possessed at the beginning of the book is “The world had drawn close around them, and they were in the center of it, or rather Rose of Sharon was in the center of it with Connie making a small orbit around her” (p.176). This quote truly shows how self-centered she was by saying the world revolves around her.

Barbara Jordan was born on February 21, 1936 in Houston Texas. She was the youngest child of three. Her father Benjamin Jordan was a Baptist minister and warehouse clerk. Her mother, Arlyne was a maid, housewife and church teacher. Jordan went to college at the University of Texas. She graduated from college being one out of two African American women in her class. Jordan passed away from viral pneumonia on January 17, 1996. Barbara Jordan is a modern here because she is a brave woman, she overcame racism, she is also a civil rights activist.

For a personal perspective of life inside Pierce County I consulted with a colleague who works as a lactation consultant. She is a 50-year-old college-educated white female who also works as an instructor in a local vocational college. She reports that her cohort’s attitude toward aging is not altogether positive. She is beginning to feel the gradual decline in her body functions and says that she and others like her find it frustrating that their bodies don’t work as well as they did in their youth. That attitude of reluctance tends to affect how readily her peers seek assistance, especially if it means accepting the realities of aging. Some of the physical health problems common in her cohort involve vision, sleep apnea, joint pain, and decreased stamina.

I had an interview with Helen Quelch in her office. She has been working as a volunteer engagement manager at National Jewish Health for more than 7 years. Before that, she also had worked at the Denver Hospice as volunteer manager as well for many years. She had a lot of managerial experiences of working in a healthcare field. That is a reason I want to interview her to explore the career in healthcare management.

To begin, the novel starts with Rose of Sharon as a happily married young woman. She is pregnant and she is very excited for the foreseeable future to come. Rose of Sharon is very naive to the harsh reality of her family’s situation; the family is being kicked out of their land and must find new work. “And the world was pregnant to her; she thought only in terms of reproduction and of motherhood” (p. 130). The person I interviewed was my mother, Holly Parker, her job currently is working at a pizza shop known as Little Caesar's, Holly was born in 1976 on January 27th. Holly’s parent's names are George and Carol McGee, and one of her siblings is named Nathan. Holly has lived in Ohio but is mostly in Bowling Green, she has moved to Sandusky once then moved back to Bowling Green. A school Holly attended was Crim Elementary School. Holly is 5 feet tall (Yes, literally), has brown hair, hazel eyes, and usually wears a yellow or pink hoodie (unless it’s in the summertime, then she will wear a T-Shirt.).

Sharon draper was born august 21, 1948, in Cleveland Ohio. Ms. Draper is a public speaker, poet, educator, and author. Ms. Draper is a member of the national board for professional teaching standards. All of Ms. Draper books have been recorded on audiocassette by recorded book. Ms. Draper wanted to be a teacher since she was a child. Ms. Draper said “in order to be a good writer it is necessary first to be a good reader”. In other words Reading is input, and writing is output. Draper attended Pepperdine University as a national merit scholar majoring in English. She graduated in 1971 from college. Draper once commented "I feel very blessed that I have had so much success in such a short time. I hope that my books can continue to make a difference

Interview with Sharron: Officer Curl interview Sharron Furno DOB 4/20/1969, Sharon stated that he is angry when he drinks and been arguing for long time, he twisted her arm when she tried to get out and leave. Sharron said she does not need help. Officer Curl give our information and a card for a domestic violence phone number.

Rose of Sharon is a dynamic character who changes throughout the novel. In the beginning of the novel she is focused on living her own life with her husband Connie. They talk about going out on their own and leaving the family to live in a town. In chapter 16 Rose of Sharon says, “Me an’ Connie don’t want to live in the country no more...Connie gonna get a job in a store or maybe a fact’ry. An’ we’ll go to pitchers whenever” (Steinbeck 224). Here, she is only concerned about her future and not the future of her family. Even when Connie leaves, Rose of Sharon remains self centered. She wishes Connie would come back so that the two could go and live in a town. She does not seem to realize that Connie left to satisfy his own selfish needs. Rose of Sharon does not understand the concept of helping others and like Connie would rather help herself. Later on, she begs for milk while

This life story is about the wonderful lady named Mrs. Doris Knight, who currently lives at the Assisted Living in Bourbonnais. The purpose of the project is to learn about Doris Knight’s life, her family, and changes she have seen. In the this paper, it will include Mrs. Doris’s childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, middle age, older adulthood, and other aspects of her life journey. Mrs. Doris knight would like to thank her children and family for being so gracious and helpful during her lifetime. Especially during this latest challenge. She is also thankful for the staff at the Assisted Living Bourbonnais nursing home who is providing her comfort and respect during this time.

Donna LaVonna Bergner is an 88-year-old woman who goes on long jogs in the mornings, dives off of boats in the afternoon and stays awake past midnight. Her age doesn’t defy her and she is the most extraordinary woman I have ever met in my life. She lived through the Great Depression, her husband fought in World War II and she also raised seven kids. I have the great privilege of seeing Donna LaVonna multiple days of every summer and even on some holidays. When I see her, she is always in a swimsuit, old-fashioned work out clothes or either very dressed up attire. She is a very odd duck but she has been through more experiences than anyone else that I have ever met and I am very grateful for the lessons that she is able to teach.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Mrs. Doreen Walker who is a social worker that is currently employed with Bridging Access to Care (BAC) in the Social Support Services department. She worked with the company for six years but has been in the social work field for sixteen years.

At the beginning of the novel, Rose of Sharon (or Rosasharn as she is called by the rest of the Joad family) is the eldest daughter of the Joad family, and is dreamy and self centered, blissfully unaware of anything other than her own happiness and contentment. She is expecting a child with Connie Rivers, who announces big plans to study electronics at night in hopes of giving his family a better life than that
