I, Helen Katz, was the youngest of eight children. I was born and raised in a religious Jewish family living in a small town in northeastern Hungary. I was always considered the "baby" of my family, I was the focus of everyone's love and affection, although my Hebrew name was Hannah, my family always called me by my nickname, Potyo, which meant "the dear little one”.

The extraordinary artist Nina Simone, is nowadays known as one of the greatest voices of the 20th century and icon of American Music. Her real name was Eunice Kathleen Waymon, she was born on February 21, 1933, in Tryon, North Carolina. She studied classical piano at the Juilliard School in New York City and was considered a precocious child prodigy because of her amazingly way playing the piano. Nina was the sixth of a family of eight brothers, descended mainly from African slaves, although among their ancestors there were also Irish and Indian blood. Nina Simone went through a lot of phases where she found herself in the in the worst moment of her life, but despite all that, she could not hide her great and admirable talent.

Nina Simone, whose real name was Eunice Kathleen Waymon, was one the greatest folk-jazz and blues singers of all time and a passionate civil rights activist. She was raised by her father, John Divine Waymon, who worked as a barber and dry cleaner, and her mother, Mary Kate Waymon, who was a Methodist preacher. Eunice was the second youngest of her six siblings. She was born on February 21st, 1933. Throughout Nina’s life, she was faced with challenges that she had to overcome to be successful.

She also has a dog named Sam who is five years old. Her favorite thing to do is draw. She likes to draw because it calms her down and it is fun. Her favorite sports team is the New York Yankees. A very talented actor with an amazing sense of humor and A great person to be around. with Schneider outclassed his contemporaries in the genre of comedy with his self deprecating humor tactics and goofy antics in many of his films and television series.

“Amen.” This one word phrase may not have a lot of context, but to Arthur Katz, it means his whole life. To him, this word represents how grateful he is for what he as and what he has created in his life. Arthur believes his purpose in his life has been to work hard for what he wants. He didn’t grow up with a whole lot going for him, but he still went out of his way to go the extra mile to make something for himself. Although he wasn’t born with much, Arthur joined and served in the navy, started and supported a family, and made his own business with his brother.

Many of the contemporary issues in South Africa can easily be associated with the apartheid laws which devastated the country. The people of South Africa struggle day by day to reverse “the most cruel, yet well-crafted,” horrific tactic “of social engineering.” The concept behind apartheid emerged in 1948 when the nationalist party took over government, and the all-white government enforced “racial segregation under a system of legislation” . The central issues stem from 50 years of apartheid include poverty, income inequality, land ownership rates and many other long term affects that still plague the brunt of the South African population while the small white minority still enjoy much of the wealth, most of the land and opportunities

I have always thought that Nelson Mandela has been one of the most important people in history. I find it very fascinating that one man could end the Apartheid and that is why I want to find out more about this. South Africa is a country with a past of enforced racism and separation of its multi-racial community. The White Europeans invaded South Africa and started a political system known as 'Apartheid' (meaning 'apartness'). This system severely restricted the rights and lifestyle of the non-White inhabitants of the country forcing them to live separately from the White Europeans. I have chosen to investigate how the Apartheid affected people’s lives, and also how and why the Apartheid system rose and fell in South Africa.
