All were a lot great ideas during the day of presentations; however there were a few that stood out to me the most that had the most viable business concepts. The first one I will be talking about will be Shooter’s Warehouse. Shooter’s Ware house stood out to me because it was something new and exciting and I never been to or seen anything like it before. But it wasn’t because it was new there was a lot of thought of that really pushed it into being a viable business concept. The team really hit what Kawasaki called the “Sweet Spot”(AOS pg9). It was obvious that members of the team had good expertise and love for the sport of soccer and wanted it to be more relevant in the city of Detroit so they hit that right on the dot. Secondly Passion …show more content…
All of the entrepreneurs mentioned in this class had the drive needed to be an expert, have an opportunity and passion to make their idea a success in the real life. Now I am not saying that some of them missed the sweet spot by a mile. But I feel like there were people in different groups that had magnificent ideas but the project was limited to just one idea and those people who had different ideas weren’t able to show the class what they came up with. So they never got the chance to see if they hit the sweet spot or not. And then there are those who were there but didn’t really follow the rules about entrepreneurship mentioned in this class. An example of this would be the guy with the heath app. Kawasaki mentioned in his book that if you are not good with persuading an audience you should have someone else that is better than you do it. The health app pitch to me was kind of boring and could have been way more exciting to listen to if the right person were to make a pitch. So to conclude the ideas, expertise and the opportunity was there; passion was iffy because of the amount of time that was given and execution can most certainly be improved by some of the guest speakers and
Last, one of the major thing I learned from the course is that facing risk of failure is what it takes to be an entrepreneur. If I am an entrepreneur, I have to face the risk
The idea of trying to persuade the class into buying into your idea required a much different approach than we are used to, as now class interaction is a much, much larger portion of the project. This approach was, in my opinion, much more involved and beneficial, but, at the same time, worse than a ‘normal’ research project. Being such a new method of presenting, there was a lot of confusion. I heard throughout the week, and even on the presentation day, that people still didn’t quite understand what they were doing. Fortunately, the solution is simple, we just need more experience and practice with this alternative approach to presenting. Overall, I hope we do more innovative and interesting takes on presentations because normal ones are not as fun or
The company that I have chosen for this assignment and project is Lowe 's Companies, Inc. Lowes strongly focuses on the mission statement “helping the customers to improve their homes”. The company started in 1921 as a small store in North Carolina. Great success and high demand of Lowe’s products led to an increase in the number of stores. By 1955, there were five more functional stores. Rapid growth took place around 1960s. Carl Buchan was one of the founders of Lowe’s, who died in year 1960. Exactly a year later in 1961, the company went public. This was the time when Lowe’s was given its name. Initially it was called North Wilkesboro Hardware Company. By 1979, Lowe’s established more than 50 stores in the United
Redbox is a great example of warehouse and transportation leader. Redbox offers DVD, Blu-Ray, and games in kiosks everywhere renting over a million discs from Redbox’s kiosks every day (Redbox, 2017). This company has the demand planning under control as they have more locations than McDonalds and Starbucks combined. That’s a lot of places. The production scheduling is right on target as the business offers most up to date movies and games. They have an agreement with Warner Bros the new release DVD and Blu-Ray titles available seven days after their retail sell-through date (Redbox, 2017). The lead time can be in minutes of requesting the item you want to rent. A customer may go online to find the nearest location, look for the disc
The clip from Silicon Valley showed many entrepreneurs pitching their trivial products under the slogan that the products “will make the world a better place” and is “local, mobile, social”. These pitches essentially strung big words together in hopes that the investors will fund the products. This satirical portrayal of the entrepreneurs contributes to the conversations we had on the current climate of entrepreneurship and the goal of entrepreneurial ideas. As described in Avery Wiscomb’s article “The Entrepreneurship Racket”, many students and faculties are feeling the pressure of being entrepreneurs. Under this pressure, students develop ideas that are as trivial as those portrayed in the video and the contradiction between the slogans and
With numerous gun shops in Albuquerque and the surround area to choose from, how does a firearms enthusiast decide which one to patronize? The most successful Albuquerque gun stores compete by being very customer-centric and differentiating themselves.
Lowe’s was first founded in the small town of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina by H. Carl Buchan. At the time, Buchan was a co-owner of the North Wilkesboro Hardware Company, but he always dreamed of creating his own chain of hardware stores. This is what led him to purchase the small town hardware store Lowe’s from his brother-in-law and partner, James Lowe. Since World War II just ended, Buchan used the building boom to his advantage as he focused on selling only hardware, appliances and unique building materials. Buchan believed in dealing directly with manufacturers so he could establish relationships to get the merchandise he needed at a lower price. This enabled Lowe’s to develop a reputation for low prices. As years went by, Lowe’s sales
Chemist Warehouse, an internet pharmacy based in Australia, employs more than 8,000 employees. Because of the number of employees working for them, Chemist Warehouse can proudly say they're the largest pharmacy in Australia. Customers have turned to them because they sell D-Bal, a power-packed formula that mimics the effects of Methandrostenolone, which is otherwise known as Dianabol, the granddaddy of steroids.

In the last part, two strategic options, production development and market penetration, are chosen to apply Bunnings’ strategy into actual implementation stage. In production development option, employee understanding, customer satisfaction and

Case 4: Competition among the North American Warehouse Clubs: Costco Wholesale vs. Sam’s Clubs vs. BJ’s Wholesale
At the beginning of the course I had only had basic entrepreneur knowledge, I understood the traits, and the amount of thought put into a business. I understood a entrepreneur needed to be able to set goals and had to establish connections and business partners. I was actually lucky enough to have taken a entrepreneur class in highschool. Which taught me lots on how an entrepreneur business is started. It also taught me the required determination and hard work it takes to be a entrepreneur.
Taking this entrepreneur course has been the best thing I could do for myself. Not only did it grow my mindset, but it taught me how to focus and concentrate on meeting my goals. At the beginning of this semester I could not let go the negative self-image I had of myself. Since I have been able to reflect on who I am I am slowly able to let go of that past image. I now know that I am more than able to reach my goals with the proper mindset and skills. I have come a long way since the beginning of this course. At the beginning of this course we were asked what is most important in life, and when I chose myself I knew after that reflections that I was off to a great start. Putting myself first these last few months has been the best thing I
