I was in the house looking at the sheriff suits that Deanna gave Rick and I and Rick walked in through the door and I said "I don't know if this is some kind of play, handing authority to strangers. The authority to break up fistfights. If it was just that, she should have given one of these to Daryl."Rick said "I don't know if it's for us or for them. Or maybe Deanna's trying to get rid of us and them. You put these jackets on me and you, have the people see it.If that's the play, that'd be smart. And she seems smart.Smart for then or smart for now?" This is now.- Rick was cut off by the sound of some bushes rustling and said "Come out! Now!" Aaron stepped out and asked You can tell the difference between walkers and humans by sound? Can you …show more content…
Come tonight. Then we'll talk about it." We were walking out of of Deanna's house and I looked at Rick and said "I'm not going to some damn welcome to the neighborhood party." Rick looked at me and said "Oh yes you are if I'm going so are you." I looked him in the eye and asked "Why the hell should I?" Rick told me "You're still new to me and my group and I don't know how dangerous you are." I rolled my eyes and said "Holy fucking shit Rick really? You have left me alone with your daughter more than once. I think you have a little trust in me. So you can't say since I haven't known you for years and were not holding hands, skipping through a field of Goddamned flowers I can tell a grown ass woman what to do with her life and make her go to some damn party that she doesn't want anything to do with. Now if you don't mind Officer friendly I'm going to do my job." I stomped away walking to check the walls and keep an eye on the kids etc. I walked to the house I was staying in I won't call it home because I'm a far way away from home. When I walked into the kitchen I saw Rick sitting at the bar. I walked in and grabbed a cup and filled it with some water and turned around to look at him, he sat there silent for a minute, then I decided to apologize to him."Hey, listen Rick I would like to say I'm sorry about earlier. I shouldn't have, I know you're only looking out for your people and children. But I can promise
At the beginning, Rick is very confused. He doesn’t know what’s going on, and is horrified when he discovers the truth of what happened to the world. His immediate thought is to run home to see if his family is okay, in which he discovers that they’re not there. Up till then, he’s been so confused
At the beginning of the series, Rick wakes from a coma ad finds himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Similar to the man, Rick values his family more than anything. After he wakes from the coma, the first thing Rick does is travel to Atlanta, GA in search of his wife, Lori, and son, Carl. Rick is a former sheriff deputy and is a key leader of the survivors group. Although we expect the man to have some military background, we aren’t entirely sure but we know he has strong survival skills like Rick. Rick and the man also share being incredibly protective over their sons in the apocalypse. Similar to the man in The Road, Rick tries to retain his son’s innocence but his extremely hesitance to welcoming non-group members to the group tests his brutality. At one point, Rick kills anyone who approaches the group. The man is not this extreme but similarly, the man doesn’t allow anyone to travel his him and his son for more than one night (Elly). Rick and the man also share a tendency to place blame on themselves. When the boy forgets to close the gas tank valve and all the gas leaks out, the man takes blame for forgetting to check that the valve was closed. Rick blames himself for the death of his best friend Shane and wife Lori because he is the leader of the group, however it wasn’t really his fault. The man and Rick Grimes share many similarities given their apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic
With the news of a zombie apocalypse, Rick’s first priority is finding his wife and son. Being a sheriff works to Rick's advantage because he is able to deal with the apocalypse well. Coming across a zombie that is attempting to talk, and move, Rick decides to put it out of its misery, and later feels guilty and cries. Rick is a devoted father, and a loyal husband, not to mention a sheriff, showing the readers that he is a good person. So when he is forced to kill a zombie who is clearly struggling, he is forced to go against his character. The day Rick awoke from his coma, he believed there was a chance that things would go back to normal, and we can see that as he tells Morgan Jones, the new occupant of his neighbors house, “Of course we’re neighbors...keep an eye on my house for me.” In this simple statement Rick implies he will be back, and this goes against his later action, killing the zombie. Ricks simple action of killing the zombie puts forth the idea that Rick does not see any humanity left in the zombie, and has lost hope for its chance and redemption. Not only did Rick shoot the zombie, but he also took a shot at his innocence in this zombie infested world he recently became a part
Rick noticed the change in her expression but he decided not to say anything and she was grateful for that. There were many buried things she wasn’t ready to revive yet. Instead they quietly returned to their meal, occasionally pretending to listen to and participate in the various conversations around them.
Rick puts the truck in park. "We will rest here until morning." The three of us in the back waited for someone to open the back hatch to get out instead of climbing over the seats in front of us. I'm the first one to touch my feet to the ground, then I grab a hold of Carl's arm and guide him out while he holds Judith in his arms. He shuffles to the side, all while I take hold of Noah's hand helping him down and not further his injury. "Thank you." "No problem, you're apart of this group now." He faintly smiles. You can't see it, but you know he is grateful to be with us versus at the hospital or alone somewhere in the city. Carl extends his arm out to me from my right. "Let's get settled before it gets too dark." I slide until I'm directly next to Carl, then spinning, allowing him to wrap his arm around my waist. Daryl found an opening a few feet into the trees for the group to use for the night. Him and Rick also started a small fire in the center. Daryl was sitting on the ground, using a tree as support, carving something with his knife. I sat where I stood, never taking my eyes off him. Eventually he caught my eye. Daryl stared for a split second then looked away. I sighed. He's hurting and it hurts me. I felt Carl slide down beside me. I kept my eyes and thoughts on Daryl. "He just needs some space for right now." Rick pulled me out of my daze. "I know." He retrieved Judith from
In this first season, Rick is representative of an altruist who puts the safety and protection of others above his own. At the beginning of the series, Rick was shot and hospitalized, and was comatose when the zombie outbreak began. When he wakes up in the abandoned hospital, one of his first instincts after returning to his now empty home is to once again don the uniform of a sheriff. Even in a post-apocalyptic world, Rick is determined to serve and protect. Rick's uniform becomes symbolic of the order he wishes to restore to society, and his inherent need to protect others, especially those people that helped to keep his family safe in his absence. When Rick handcuffs Merle Dixon to the roof of a building in
Rick in the episode “Guts” just being introduced into the group has heard a commotion of gunshots being fired from the top of the building. The whole group rushes upstairs to see Merle Dixon firing away at zombies attracting more and more until T Dog confronts Merle. Merle terrifies the whole group impelling T Dog to the concrete demanding leadership until Rick knocks Merle to ground handcuffing him to the roof. This brings hope into the group in which the group without rick the group was too weak to fend for their self and couldn’t of stop Merle from killing T Dog and hurting them. People started looking up to Rick more as a leader. Later on in that episode, Andrea was eyeballing a piece of jewelry wanting that some sort of approval from Rick to take it. Rick “Why don’t you take it”. Andrea “Because there is a cop staring at me”. She didn’t want to take it because she
Rick and Shane were in deep conversation with an older man with a rifle standing outside an RV that was parked next to Shane’s car. He gestured around wildly as he offered them what little information he had. A few other people joined into their conversation and Michonne was desperate to find out what was going on.
“Sometimes I wonder if you even care about us at all.” As Rick explains to Shane the situation in which Lori, his wife, made this comment to him in front of their son, Carl, in season one of The Walking Dead, you can tell that this was something the stung and really hurt Rick inside. He goes on to say that “the difference between men and women is a man would never say something so cruel.” This may or may not be true, but the fact that he made this comment shows that there is obvious resentment that he has for his wife, and shows that she may not trust him as the caregiver for their family. What is incredible about this situation is the fact that this all seemingly was able to go away after Rick fought through
I wake up to hammering going on in different parts of the house. Slowly opening my eyes I turn my head to the window to see if the sun is up at least. My curtains are closed shut complately letting in no form of light.
“When we opened the doors in the kitchen, we were shocked to find a door leading to the basement. Lying right in the middle of the floor, there were submachine guns, handguns and several rifles along with many knives. We also found a machine used for making false ID’s and driver’s license hidden in the basement that’s why Mathew Morgan’s driver’s license looks so real. Since Mr. Hudson lived alone, no one ever checked on him. As a result, when they murdered him, no one missed him. Pretty smart of Matthew Morgan to find someone like Mr. Hudson and replace him,” Steve said, shaking his head.
“I—“ Daryl starts, then he’s leaning forward, resting his head on Rick’s shoulder. “I don’t wanna be yer drunken mistake,” the firefighter breathes, his breath smelling of whiskey and vodka, his body heavy. Rick releases a breath he didn’t know he was holding in, shifting so he could hold Daryl’s face between his hands.
It was early morning, Rick tried his best to get up for school, but his body refused to even move. It took an astounding 25 minutes for Rick to even stand up correctly without falling face-first straight into the wood floor. When he finally had the energy to move, he trudged across the hallway, while his eyes still half closed. Rick’s Mother shouted like an elephant who had been bitten by a lion. Rick jumped up with adrenaline rushing through his system, trying to hastily complete his morning routine. When Rick was done, he ran down the stairs with a big smile on his face when smelling the bacon and eggs in the kitchen. The dining room looked like it was forced into a corner of the house, which made it difficult to maneuver through. Upon sitting
“So if your father is still alive, then why aren’t you guys together?”, I ask as we all sit in the living room in front of the warm fireplace of the old home. “My father isn’t well.”, she says abruptly with a stern, but sad tone of voice. Ray and I glance at each other then look back at Colleen, “He’s sick and I don’t think he has long, I’ve been out here trying to find more supplies for him.”, she says looking down, “When the sun comes up, I need to go back to him”. I feel so bad for her and I can tell Ray does too, I don’t even want to know what happened to her mother or any other family she may have had. I can’t think of anything else to say but, “I’m so sorry”. She looks up at me and says, ”Well, what’re you going to do. No one exactly
Then there was a whistling coming closer followed by Negan’s voice “Damn. You are adorable.Did you pick that gun 'cause it looks cool? You totally did, right? Kid, I ain't gonna lie you scare the shit outta me. Dwight came out of nowhere and disarmed Carl and knocked him to the ground warning him “Kid.” He had a weapon pointed to Carl's face and that’s when I came out of the truck “Dwight. Back Off!” I could feel Negan’s eyes on me then he said “Dwight backup Is that any way to treat our new guest? Come on, kid,” He said to Carl and then looked at me and said “You two foxy. I will show you two around.” Carl just laid on the ground glaring up at Negan. Then Negan said “You know, you do the same damn stink-eye as your dad, except it's only half as good 'cause well, you know, you're missing an eye."Negan Held out his gloved hand out to Carl and said "Really? You're really not gonna take my hand? 'Cause you're lucky you even still have a hand. Same as your boy Daryl over here, now that I think about it. How's the job going, Daryl? Hot enough for you? Yeah, it'd be tough with one arm. Carl sighed and took Negans hand as Negan pulled him up he said "Ah, smart kid. Now come with me.Dwighty-boy, why don't you grab Daryl, take him to the kitchen, do a little grub prep. New plan, boys.Let's burn the dead, unload the truck later.
