The beeping of a monitor was getting annoying. With the sterile smell and constant humming of technology, Corvus could have really used some music. His body ached from the fight he had won, ached from the damage that was finally catching up to him. His bones had broken numerous times, something he could easily fix. However, now he was just getting his energy back while the lab coat people ran tests on him. They didn't need his consent for anything given the fact that this hospital was not really considered such, but it was the only place he could really go while staying under the radar of the native population here that would be happy to see a bounty hunter like him floating dead in the ocean. Mother kisses the top of Clem's head and calls for Dad to bring her school. He sets his newspaper down and gets up. He walks over to me and kisses me on the forehead and grabs my hand, giving it a firm squeeze. This is an odd gesture to me seeing as affection is not necessarily allowed in our city. Apparently it is a form of self-indulgence, which is frowned upon in Rauhallinen.

Marinette slammed her cup plastic cup back onto the table, waiting for Alix (who seemed to gladly accept the position of bartender) to pour her another drink, the pinked-haired girl obliged seeming in awe at how fast Marinette had downed that first cup. Quite frankly, Marinette was surprised herself, she’d never been much of a drinker save for those night’s when she and Alya switched out ice cream for some wine Alya managed to sneak out of her house. Either way, she braved through the bitter taste of vodka, enjoying the warm feeling building in her stomach, at least now she could blame her flushed cheeks on the alcohol.

Phelps and Umonakalisi reached the bottom of the stairwell, stopping just long enough to catch their breath, but with the location of their foe unknown, Phelps opened a crack in the door just wide enough to hear the silence of the empty corridor. They were alone. Their prey still alluded them, and both men burst through the doors, setting off at a sprint along the passageway. Within thirty seconds, the signs on the walls announced the beginning of Hangar G. Phelps slowed. He searched for an entrance. Then, he stopped beside one of the huge maintenance doorways and pressed the access panel. The door remained unmoved.

It was Saturday morning and I had just woke up. I received an email from the coach that coaches one of the best teams. I could not believe what I had just seen. On the email it wrote “Dear Victoria, I had watched you play in a few games, and I think you would be a good addition to my team. Would you want to come to practice tonight?” I thought to myself, I am not good enough, so maybe I should not go. But as the day went on, I actually thought that I should go just for the experience.

“Hey, Pops. I need you to call the principal.” Veronica heard her dad coming in the office and flashed her sweetest, best-daughter-award-acceptance-speech smile. Resting her elbows on her desk, and her face on her hands, Veronica tried to play up her innocent-and-cute factor.

I looked at him confused, “How can that be? I was pulled over a few months ago for expired tags and was told that if I get it all straightened out it would be okay.”

Steam billowed from what seemed like a hole in the wall to reveal sweating cooks cooking up a feast for the guests attending. She leaned in from the frame of the door to get a better look and was instantly hit with the smell of the most amazing food in her life. Spices from the caribbean, cream from the premium cows and the thickest, most pure chocolate syrup ever imagined. She was practically drooling down onto her shoes before a waiter crashed into her shoulder and in horror spilled an entire platter of vegetables onto the orchestra and people dancing before both of them.

As I strained my muscles in order to push up the kingdom, power and envy coursed through my veins. Alas, the kingdom emerged out of the sea that had controlled me my whole life like a puppet on strings.

"You have no idea how good it is to see everyone," Marcus declared. "Even if the circumstances are far from pleasant."

Sam wakes up soaked in sweat, the morning sun boiling through the windows. A crick in his neck and cramped legs, aching from being tucked into the back seat of the Impala. He can’t help but groan as he feels the back of his t-shirt unstick from the smooth leather. There are similar sounds of misery as Dean tries to peel himself off the front seat and cracks open the car door with a squeak. His heavy booted feet hit the ground with a crunch and Sam can hear Dean’s shoulders pop as he stretches. There's a grumble from his brother as Dean kicks away whatever debris his boots landed on.

“Hello?” [ONE] rolled their eyes as they said the word. Come on, they were better than this. They didn’t need to talk to themselves.

“Rufus!” yelled Adán as he swung his scythe at Heqet. The goddess caught the scythe and thrown the vampire across the room as well. He crashed through the dining table in the adjacent room, causing Aaqil to jump out of his skin and paused the ritual.

I told them I was fine, though I was still trembling a little bit from fear. How was I supposed to do it in front of several people if I couldn’t even rehearse up there without having a panic attack? Thankfully, I soon got used to the height, though the first time up there every year still makes my heart pound; I think it does for everyone. For my third year, I was able to look up for our last sign for the very first time.
