“I'm heading back to New Orleans from visiting my sister in Greenville,” I say lightening the mood a little. “She just had a baby with her husband so I went to go see my new niece.” “How old is she?” “She is two weeks old and has the chubbiest cheeks I have ever seen,” I say with a huge smile on my face. “Her hazel eyes are so huge and beautiful.” “She sounds amazing.” “Tell me about you. Who’s Henry?” The song we have been dancing to ended. “We might want to go sit down unless you want to keep dancing,” he said with a teasing smile. “Let’s go get a table,” I agree. He laughs as I hurry off the dance floor. I go find us a table to sit at. Will comes back with two flutes of champagne. “Here you go, one for you one for me.” “Cheers!” I say …show more content…
I stare quizzically at them and notice that they are lanterns. But they’re under water, that’s impossible. Then all the lanterns go out on the boat. I back up terrified and almost slip down the stairs. I turn toward the way I came and start running back to find Will. “WILL!” I shout. In my haste I forget the deck is slippery and just as the boat tilts from a strong gust of wind I slip and fall over the edge. I quickly grab the railing as I fall and dangle there. All crew has to clean up after the party so instead of walking Opal back to her room I have to help. I stepped outside for a minute to watch Opal leave. It’s starting to smell like rain. “So how was your evening with Opal?” Henry asks from behind me. “What?” I say as we walk back inside. “She was the only one you talked to the whole night. Before she got here you were sad and mopey. When she came tonight you looked like a puppy seeing its owners for the first time in days.” “First of all I was not like that and second we had a great time. We talked about our families and friends. I got to know her and I like her so much more now.” “Well I hope you know you owe me a favor now for dancing with that girl when Opal came,” he said with a smart look on his face. “I’m guessing you already know which favor to ask of me.” I’m nervous because Henry’s mind can be strange at some points. I can hear it pouring now on the roof. “I was going to ask--” All the lights go out and the boat tilts. I hear
"No wonder he cares for you so deeply. You have known him so long." She said almost cheerfully as if it was a good
"Don't make me dump cold water on you." Amy warns me, yet I doubt she would dare to do such thing. "If you don't get up you will be late for your dance practise."
"I just had to meet her boyfriend for the first time and that was tough for me. I like the guy. She chose a really nice guy so I'm okay with it. He's a very respectful kid. Comes from a good family and that's what I like about him. He's very mature."
“Yeah he’s a good kid,” she said as if I didn’t know him. “It was nice meeting you” she extended her
“ You seem like a really nice kid that’s why I was wondering why you are here” Karen said.
“Would you like to dance?” She asked and waited for his reply, hoping that he would agree.
Perceval chuckled and smiled. He could never stay angry at his friend for long. “Yes, I do. Now, will you let me pass?”
It was night, and I was walking Kaitlyn, my best friend, back to her house from the park. “Thanks, it was fun hanging with you”, she says smiling.
I smirk at him. “The way you reacted just now, when I mentioned her name.”
As dawn breaks through and the sun begins to rise all four men are still hard at work trying to keep the dinghy afloat and in steer still with doubt in their minds as they rowed deeper into the sea. Time passes and the cook tries to ease the situation by being optimistic “Bully good thing it’s an on-shore wind.” he says and then following with “If not, where would we be? Wouldn’t have a show.” the oiler and correspondent both agreeing and the captain snickering at the remark and replying “Do you think we've got much of show now, boys?” Retorting that it was childish of them to show optimism at this time “but they all doubtless possessed this sense of the situation in their minds” and fell silent. The captain could see the little bit of the
Continuous waves pounding against the boat, yet you attempt to remain still.. But now you rise up from your seat, grasping onto surrounding objects to assure stability; all that you smell is the sea salt being carried throughout the air; your skin and hair are covered in a fine layer of sticky salt; you constantly fidget around your overused lifejacket attempting to make it more comfortable; and now you make your way to the white platform at the back of the boat; an assortment of rainbow colors filled the gigantic parasail that blew up off the back of the boat; ropes and latches are pulled out of a discolored bin and strapped around you; you slide into the bulky harness- now you sit… and you wait, and before you know it you hear that small,
Seconds later, he was standing beside her. He cupped his palm under her chin and turned her to look at him. When he saw her tears, he brought his thumbs up to her cheeks and wiped them away while he cradled her face in his hands. She stared at
"I've got to call this in to Dax. " Wade turned in a circle and inspected the area. "Why don't I take you out to breakfast at the cafe. I can call on the way."
A hot blush stains to my cheeks. Consequently, I lower my head and tuck my hair behind my ear. “Thank you.”
She smiled tightly in response as the older Westbrook woman reentered the room, dressed in a peach two-piece pantsuit. “I think this might be one of the happiest days of my life. My baby is getting married and I must say, she made an excellent choice in a husband. Couldn’t have picked a better one.”
