Wade knelt down next to one of the tires on the car and ran his hand over it. Grinding his teeth together, he stood up and growled.
"They've been slashed. God damn it. I didn't hear anything last night, did you?"
Grace shook her head. "I woke up several times but didn't hear anything out of the ordinary."
"I've got to call this in to Dax. " Wade turned in a circle and inspected the area. "Why don't I take you out to breakfast at the cafe. I can call on the way."
"I'm not sure I have an appetite, although I do kind of want to get out of here."
"Go thow some clothes on and lets go."
Grace stared out the window, watching the scenery pass by in a blur as Wade made the phone call.
"Dax, someone came and slashed all four tires on Grace's car."
"I had both deputies out there last night from the time I left your mom's until about half an

The motel down south was such a rat hole, I couldn't wait to get out of there. Does this place even have anything edible? I'm in some serious need of a latte and a crepe."
Once again, Wade cleared his throat.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Mother, this is Wade. Wade meet my mother, Helen."
Wade stood up and pulled a chair out for her before extending his hand out. Ignoring it, Helen took a napkin and made a show of brushing off the seat before sitting down.
"So, again I ask, how did you know where I was?"
"Oh, a woman has her ways. Have I taught you nothing, Grace?" Helen glanced around before raising her hand up and snapping her fingers. "Customer service is obviously not taught around here." I can understand Grace's contempt, but in the story I was thinking there was also fear.
"Mother, stop. Answer my question."
"Don't speak to me like that, Grace. You know better than that. This place is ruining your manners."
Sally Jo, the waitress, arrived carrying a menu and notepad in one hand and a glass of ice water in the other. Setting them down in front of Helen she asked, "What can I get for you to
As Coretta Scott King once said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” The short story “Mojave Rats” by Kristin Valdez Quade explores the relationship between Monica, who offers no compassion to the people around her, her daughters Cordelia and Beatrice, and her second husband Elliot. They moved from Los Angeles to Shady Lanes RV park in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Monica feels superior and out of place and lives convinced that Elliott will soon finish his geological expedition so that they can climb into academia and live a flawless and carefree life as a happy family. They live isolated from the rest of their community and Monica does not have any allies to help her through her
For Grace the reader doesn’t gain much insight on the characters emotions for she is only briefly given a few 3 sentence paragraphs in the book. Although the character did not have all that much views from them, the reader was able to interpret her relationships with other characters. Grace was also described as a person who cared about the people and animals around her. She had always
“You’re going to love it. They are so much fun!” Emme told her. Emme had been to the Escape Room once before, but now they were saving the Titanic from sinking.
First, Yep feels that he isn’t good enough for his father. Yep feels that he isn’t strong enough or smart enough to play a single game of ball. In conclusion, Yep feels that his father hates him and that Yep is nothing but a little bug to his dad.
The short story “The Rats in the Wall” by Lovecraft, told in first person narrative, gives the reader a strong sense of his feelings and emotions. The narrator is the last of his family lineage, having lost his father, wife, and son. This loss plays and influences the horrifying events throughout the story.
Grace made it clear that she was determined to find out who her father was. She kept on asking and asking. Also because she had so much determination by the thoughts she had about needing a real friend. She was adamant on getting one in Martha’s Vineyard. I knew from the beginning that she really wanted to know about her father and her mother’s childhood. She kept asking and asking. It wasn’t until she was 16 when she would find her answers. What you wouldn’t know from the beginning was that she was so brave. That point really wasn’t proven until she went to Mr. Sutton’s
The crew were all in Barba's office working on another potential rape case. Rollins walks in with a couple of bags in her hand. "I figured since we're gonna be here all day, might as well bring y'all lunch."
“If I can’t find something there, I have my ways.” She looked relieved, like a weight had been taken off her shoulders. “I guess this means no biscuit today, huh?”
“Except, that’s the only good thing. Anyways, can we get something to eat? I’m freaking
“But first- we need to get some food. I am sure you are starving. You don’t look so good.”
Another theory about the event is that Grace is possessed by a demon. Demon possession is when a bad spirit gets into a person’s body in order to make him trespass and step aside from God. Some of the symptoms are voice change, memory deletion, agitated breathing, access to hidden information and indiscretion. All of these characteristics are shown when Grace is hypnotised. Some examples are the fact that the tone in her voice changes, it is described as “thin, wavery and watery”, also she refers to others violently with insults. Opposite to Grace’s thoughts, Dr Jordan’s way of thinking is far from being innocent or good. As he is one of the narrators the reader can realise that he is a negative man who thinks down on others and keeps imagining
Grace is small, “old fashioned” (388), and shy. Grace has more dignity and not afraid of who she is. She holds onto the memory of the letter from Delphin, and feels sorry for Alida who does not realize her late husband was actually in love with
“It sure is great dear, but first we must get a small bite to eat, and find a temporary place to stay, we didn’t plan this out very well you know…” stated Sue.
Not one–” Robbie nodded his head, so he carefully raised the little girl and placed her on his broad, flat shoulders and carried her. After that, she read him Cinderella and he listened to her carefully. While Gloria likes technology, Grace does not like technology. So she told Robbie “don't”come back till I call you. This shows fear, so she has to command it by using power, and anger to make it listen. Also she got her daughter a dog because she doesn't like Robbie and it shows how she can't handle the idea of how technology works because she never used
