The short story, ”The Absence of Emily” by Jack Ritchie is a great mystery because it directs you into a direction that seems totally correct but in the end the direction it showed us was wrong and was totally the opposite of what was actually true. In Ritchie describes a surprising mysterious setting that creates a ghostly and frightening mood he foreshadowed Alberts reveal in a very interesting unnoticeable way . In beginning of the story Albert is questioned by Millicent Emily’s cousin, who by the way is Albert's new wife.
