There is no reason why schools shouldn’t extend the school day. The obvious solution to these problems is just to extend the school day and turn it into the four day week. Changing this can help the students now and the soon to be students by giving them a better learning experience and end up doing better in life in general. The extended school day has been used in some schools across the U.S. and has proven to work just as or better than the normal day. Everyone has wanted to have more time after school for homework and other things that you like to do? Well i think that school days should be shorter and mostly everyone agrees. Students would have more time for homework and other activities after school. Teachers would also have spare time to grade papers and come up with new assignments.

How would you feel if your school wanted to add an hour and a half to the school day? There would be lots of controversy over this topic. Many students will argue not to add the hour and a half to the school day. But, some teachers will want to add that time to have more time to study. The teachers would also like to study more on the SOL so that students would get better grades. The hour and a half should not be added to the school day because students will miss after school activities; students will have less sleep; students will get bad grades.

Many parents and students believe that school starts too early,I agree with them school hours should be pushed back.But some may argue why would this be necessary,or what can this change affect them. This change is beneficial for the students,in many ways such as conduct,grades,and tardies that is why pushing back school one hour will help and I will tell you how.

Can you imagine getting up on a Friday morning and not having to get up and go to school. This is becoming more than just a really good dream in some places across the country. This is happening as close as Hot Springs School District in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Many school officials around the country are switching to the system because they believe it is better financially and better for the kids. A four day school week will be better for the children and financially because it saves the school money, student and teacher morale are better, and better test scores.

My argument is about why schools should start later. I think schools should start later because students will be more focused and be able to get better sleep. The administration is against this because they think we should be in school longer but this also helps teachers because students won’t fall asleep in class. The administration is complaining that the schools test scores are low but maybe it’s because not everyone gets enough sleep. It would help teachers a lot because not only will you have enough sleep but you’ll also have energy and make it through the day.

In the entire world, America is placed 48th and Japan is 1st in school rankings. I believe Japan is only in 1st because they have an all year round school so they get more enrichment. On the other hand, USA has many breaks such as summer, winter, spring, and maybe ski-week. Schools should lengthen our hours not just to be in a higher ranking but also for students to get more enrichment. First of all, if we lengthen our school hours the students get extra improvement and instruction. This extra time can give teachers more time to answer questions and give more experience. Some people say that extending school hour's is a bad thing for multiple reason's.I strongly disagree because their are many benefit's to extending school hour's to start at a later time.For example, if state's moved schools hour's to a later time their would be increased performance and reduced absences.There would also be a reduced number of student's falling asleep in class's and much more.

Imagine sitting at a desk all day listening to a teacher drone on and hand you a worksheet right after that. Well if your school day was 9 hours and 30 minutes instead of 8 hours, then that's what you would have to do. You would be there till 4:30 in the afternoon. Who wants to be there for that with only lunch as a break? Every class would be about 18 minutes longer. Which is why I don’t agree with schools extending the day because it can cause sleep deprivation, result in more kids getting in trouble, and more kids zoning out.

Schools are so much a part of our society, so the accurate length of school days is extremely important. Public opinions on the length of the school days are different. There are a lot of parents and professors concerned that it is hard for children to go to school early in the morning and stay there the whole day. On the other side, some professors try to force students into a nine hour school day. Not so many years ago, school was a main part of my life, and the school days’ structure and length affected my social life and ability to study. From my own experience and some studies that I have seen, students benefit if school days are long.

As a student of Dinwiddie County Public Schools I do not approve of an hour and a half increase in school hours. This would throw off the balance of how things work for the students and the teachers.The minds of students would be stretched and forced to think longer, Students will get even more exhausted with extended school hours, The teachers would have longer hours with no extra pay. if students have to go certain places after school. What if being at school after causes a difficulty in after school schedules.

I think students should not have an 8 hour school day. Most kids do not want to go to school longer than 8 hours. On debate.org a poll named “Should School Days be Shorter” show me that 89% of students said yes and 11% said no. My first reason is that “Students would get home much faster and they’ll have more time for homework and other activities after school.”Also, having a shorter school day would get students to have enough sleep and be energized the next day. My third reason is that teachers would work fewer hours and therefore, would get less pay.” So I believe having a shorter school day could benefit the school district to save money and use it for field trips and sports.
