Should College Be Free Research Paper

Growing up in a lower class family my mother was barely able to pay the bills. My father left my mother when I was fourteen. So she was forced to provide for my siblings and me on her school bus driver salary. My mother had the best health benefits a job provides, her children never went without healthcare. I will say the majority of lower class family’s do not have this luxury, it depends on the job. My siblings and I have also had a quality education because my mother researched the school districts in our area before deciding where to enroll her kids. The lower class can get a quality education we just have to be determined to work hard. In order to get a college education as a lower class citizen I have to work a full time job while going to school full time. I have a wonderful role model my mother got her bachelor’s degree while working to full time jobs one graveyard and one during the day while going to school full time. If she can do that then I can’t disappoint her all she’s ever wanted for her children was a better life. The government provides financial aid, but it isn’t enough to live on while going to school. I have to utilize every free moment I have to complete my assignments, because of that I don’t have any free time. College is my only shot at moving up the class ladder of America.

Imagine a world where college was completely free. Tuition is completely paid for, no book fees, housing fees, everything is one-hundred percent paid for by the government. Unfortunately, the only downfall to that is that the people fund the government. Taxpayers, which should be almost all of America, are the ones who give the government the money to do every day necessities. The government will not be able to afford to pay for every student to have free college on their own, all of that money will have to come from us, the people. This means that college really isn't free. The government should not pay for everyone's college because it is unfair to those who can easily afford it, taxes will go through the roof, and will inhibit a lesser education if it is free for everyone.

First, free college may not benefit those most in need. As Matt Bruenig, a writer who researches poverty and welfare systems, in his article “The Case Against Free College” argued, “The main problem with free college is that most students come from disproportionately well-off background and already enjoy disproportionately well-off futures, which makes them relatively uncoupling targets for public transfers…At public colleges, students from the poorest fourth of the population currently pay net tuition at either two-year or four-year institutions….Richer students currently receive much fewer tuition and living grant benefits”(113). Today, I’m going to talk to you all about something that your parents probably have never not brought up with you before—college. Obviously I’m kidding. For a student in high school, not a day goes by where college is not mentioned. With college comes this monster of debt and unless you are some star athlete who has already committed to UCLA by 7th grade or the next Einstein who has cured all forms of cancer by the age of thirteen, you probably won’t be getting an 100% full ride to the dream college of your choice. And so this means that you and/or your parents will be paying for you to earn a degree to achieve a successful future. I believe that college should be free because every student should have the right and ability to attend college and it should be a tool to help set up students for their lives ahead of them.

Each time you walk past a homeless person have you ever wondered why is he/she is homeless. The main reason is the lack of college education. Now you may think people have to go to school. You may be right but that only implies elementary to high school. College is optional. Another question you may wonder is why is college so vital to doing well in life. During the college classes, they learn how to make a reasonable decision like what house they should buy or what college their kids should go to. You may wonder how is that important. Which is why college education should be free.

Free college is a commonly accepted idea, as a crucial part of society's advancement. Education is the foundation for building a strong country, as knowledge is what allows for productivity in all areas of life. However, the cost and accessibility to standard higher education limits many people's availability to a quality schooling. Some may argue that public colleges should continue to charge tuition, as the federal government can not afford the cost nor will creating higher taxes to enable the program solve the crisis. However, ultimately, higher education should be free as it would stimulate economic growth, remove the primary deterrent for not attending college and decrease dependence on government aid.

There have been many debates whether college should be free? This has been getting a lot of debate over the years in politics and media. The one reason that college should be free is that it would give the opportunity to those teens that are not financially able to go because they can't afford it. The nature of this debt means that students have to pay it off immediately, which means that students are forced to pay off massive debt while going to college. Instead, citizens should be paid to go to college because they are going there to better themselves as citizens of the United States. Making new experiences for each individual is important. No one will enjoy the experience if they have crushing debts to worry about. Education should be out there to inspire peoples mind and not just filling their head with others perspective. Every individual has the right to learn and be educated, and have the opportunity to view this world in a different perspective and do something on their own. If students were not stressed out over the cost, they could then focus they’re stress on leaning and getting educated. A student should only have to worry about exceling him or herself to their best ability without worrying about the price they have to pay to get their education.

They have been spending a lot of time and effort, working hard in any assignation, doing the best they could, that this students really deserve all the right to receive free college tuition. The necessity of financial support should not stop to any American Citizen Student from completing their education, but also, have their dreams come true to become whatever they want to

Are we really free? By we, I mean blacks. So are we really free or have we been tricked into believing so. Instead of racially oppressing black people, society should treat them the same so that everyone is equal. At least 194 black people have been killed by police in the year 2016 alone and there have been many cases where white men have received less prison time for the same crime a black man committed. These actions show racial injustice that is effecting society.

Students that want to attend college should be given the opportunity to do so free at cost. Many families today often deal with the difficult decision on whether or not they will send their child to college. Not making college education free would lead to bankruptcy and an inability to give back to the economy. Many people who are in debt with student loans often have an inability to buy a house, a car, or afford life necessitates such as medical coverage.
