It is more frequent to have a genuine fear of standing and talking in front of a large group of fellow classmates than any other fear or phobia. When in realistic terms, it is more likely one will have to speak in front of students in a classroom than to be attacked by a shark on a Tuesday. Recently, schools have abandoned mandating speech classes, even though it would be easier to fund a speech class than a shark wrestling class. Why or why not? Minakhi Prasad Misra, a college student that is comfortable with speaking, explains why a public speaking course should be implemented into schools.“This means, to begin with, all are supposedly on the same starting line and each one has an equal opportunity of learning the art and craft of speaking publicly in English. However, in every section of every grade/standard, only a select few naturally talented speakers are identified and encouraged to hone their skills of speaking further by fast-tracking their participation in all public speaking activities conducted within and beyond the school” (Misra). To paraphrase, the author explains that speaking publicly will enhance your comprehension and understanding of the English language. “I am not insinuating that schools do not recognize this deficiency in their pedagogy. Most of the schools try to strictly impose the rule of speaking exclusively in English within the school premises to incubate a culture of interactive learning of the language. However, this does not suffice” (Misra). This author is biased, however, he proves very valid points. Implementing speech in schools will be a bigger, more positive and effective means to help speaking skills and body

Being a socialize person, I have always believed that public speaking is not a problem for me at all. However, I realize I was completely wrong as I had to deliver a lot of speeches in front of class, which was a quite a struggle for me. Even though my English accent has gotten a lot better throughout the year, yet it would always get terrible during my speech as I was mispronouncing words constantly. Public speaking is the number one fear in the world, which shows that the number one fear is really a deep fear of rejection from the connection of others. There is no question that after giving about four speeches, I have become a much better overall public speaker. In the beginning of the semester, I would tend to get nervous during some of my speeches and consequently the delivery of my speech would be greatly affected. If I had made a mistake, my level of nervousness would drastically increase and I wouldn’t know how to correct it. Although today I have improved on these aspects. Normally in order to control my nerves I try to think as positively as possible. This is critical because when I start to think even a little bit negatively then I severely hurt my chances of giving a good speech. Instead today, my main priority is to stay very confident and tell myself that I’m going to perform fine.

The famous of all being the famous “I Have a Dream” speech, which still is quoted today. In order for change to take place, an individual must speak up in some sort of public forum to identify the problem.
Claudia Stepanovich gave me a message through power point that I completely agree with and that is that public speaking is not a skill you are born with; it is something that you have to learn and get better at. This message spoke to me, because I am extremely nervous about public speaking and I always avoid it when I can; when I can’t avoid it I always get nervous and start to stutter and forget information.

A worst fear to hit above all aside from death: public speaking. Having to talk in front of an audience otherwise in my words, the talking itself. I don’t recall on how I became “that one quiet kid” in school, but it’s a personality that I sometimes, irritate myself also. From my perspective, talkative at home while, at school the silent treatment. So, what is the problem here? Freshman to Junior, I stayed the same. Some students even
