Should School Uniforms Be Paid?

With gang activity, strict dress codes, and bullying becoming more relevant, the idea of school uniforms crosses the mind of many school districts across the country. Even though it may stop students from expressing themselves it would make it easier for staff members to enforce these strict dress codes, reduce the amount of bullying, and overall make schools easier. Which is why schools should have uniforms.

Moreover, parents are affected by the school uniform policy as well. The public school system paid for by American tax dollars, and it is unfair to saddle parents with the responsibility to purchase additional clothing to meet school uniform policy requirements. Due to the current state of the economy, parents are looking for a way to stretch their dollars, not additional expenses on top

Determining what to wear to school is difficult for the majority of middle and high schoolers. Wouldn't it be simpler to just have a set outfit planned for each and every day? Throughout education history, the concept of school uniforms has been experimented and debated within both public and private schools. Several schools across the United States require these uniforms, while the rest apply a dress code. Although applying a dress code may seem as if it eliminates all issues with inappropriate clothing violation, it is truly not advantageous. The only alternative to mend this situation would be to enforce school uniforms. My first reason is that school uniforms are way too expensive. who would someone want to by something that is way over their budget when all they have to do is let the kids choose what they want for many things and still be less than a school uniform. Why would someone want their kid to look more grown up then they are. Why would the parents to allow their children to be in a passion where they would have to wear a school uniform. The student I ber hate the school uniforms because they are so expensive and they are so crazy.

Should school uniforms be required in public schools? There are many reasons to get school uniforms. It is proven through statistics that school uniforms may decrease the amount of crime but also increase student safety. With uniforms fighting in schools dropped by 51%, sexual offenses depleted by 74% and drug possession went down by 69% (M. Sue Stanley). Student uniforms are all the same, which helps the students and teacher conserve precious class time by not having to re-enforce the standard dress code. Having the same clothes as everyone else can be upsetting but, TeenVogue stated “there are tons of ways to amp up your standard issue getup” (Teen Vogue).

Some adults stress about things more than others. Adults have can find a lot of reasons to stress over one thing. In the case, adults will usually give themselves negative stress. Negative stress has proven to cause serious health problems both mentally and physically such as; high blood pressure,heart disease, heart attacks,diabetes,depression,personality changes,and anxiety. These are just a few health risks of negative stress! Getting rid of uniforms is not just about parents, but kids too. Kids that have parents that are stressed out about things easily tend to be more afraid to talk to their parents. At the beginning of the school year there is a task parents have to worry about buying a school uniform for their kid/kids. After parents have bought their kids school supplies spending an average $100, they then have to get the money around for the uniforms.The total average cost for uniforms after the shoes,pants,and shirts have been added up the school uniform can cost up to $249! For single parents that is a lot of money to stress about to get around for their kid/kids. Even then the parents are not done there with uniforms even after they get them! The uniform has to be up to the school’s standards at all times. The school uniform has to be cleaned and neat looking everyday. Parents have to clean the uniforms themselves the school. If a kid doesn’t have clean uniform to show up in ,or for some reason can’t find their uniform for school they can get a detention. Students could get an even worse punishment for not wearing their

The First reason that I think kids should not wear uniforms is that kids sometimes have their taste in clothing they want to express on what they feel by wearing their own styles. Because sometimes kids can tell when someone is depressed and you can tell by the way they dress like if they wear black that means that they are depressed about something.

Parents - Parents are involved in the change to school uniforms because when changing to school uniforms when buying clothes for the new year it has been proven that if you have two or more children it can cost far more than needed on new clothes for the school year. School uniforms are used every day in school which saves parents time in the morning making sure their child is ready for school each morning. ~ After one season of football the school profit is 63,183.99 but after the expenses they only have 11,747.38 left which is still good money for a school.~ To rent a stadium it is $10,000 for one season but it is 2,000 per game it is 5 games per season.~ The football uniforms are 6,400 they last 4 years. While wearing uniforms, students have to obey and follow the rules, so they will learn how to respect others. An article reports “Teachers and principals often report that discipline problems are reduces in schools that implements a standardized dress program.” (School Uniforms). In addition, wearing school uniforms is a step of preparation for professional life. When you have a job, you will have to wear uniforms. Whether you are a doctor or a nurse, you are in the same position. School uniforms also help students to realize that they are a part of a group, so they feel liked they belong and learn to take responsibility for whatever they do.

School uniforms should definitely be used in school systems. Uniforms are both good for schools as well as for the students. Wearing uniforms will help build a sense of unity within the school. Instead of everyone as a separate team, everyone will be in the same team. Wearing uniforms will help free students of the stress of what to wear in the morning. Some critics say that school uniforms increase the amount of clothing that parents have to buy for their children, meaning that they would have to spend more money. Students wouldn’t wear their uniforms outside of school, so parents would have to buy casual clothing for their child to wear outside of school.

Another way of looking at it is they are forcing students to become on mold, or one certain way of being. However, the problem with making them one is, no matter how they look they will still have their own individual personality traits that will come out in the end. First, some parents especially who does not have money to buy a uniform does not want the school uniform policy. One of the reason why is that they don't have enough money to buy it. Let's be real that some of the school uniform are pricey and that the administration wanted students to buy it in the school and they are not allowing it if it's not bought in the school. They are making school uniform as a business in some ways. Other students just wanted to wear the clothes that they already have to lessen their expenses. So for some students and parents they think it is not practical for them to buy a school
