Should Students Be Able To Have Soda Machines

“When students are hospitalized-or worst yet, die from alcohol poisoning, which happens about 300 times each year-college presidents tend to react by declaring their campuses dry or shutting down fraternity houses.” This quote states that there are already many students hospitalized or dead. This happened when the drinking age is 21. I think if the drinking age were lowered, the number of students hospitalized might go up or even double. I think that the college presidents should make strict laws around campus that would help stop students from drinking. If colleges were to have a security check in every dorm, every day that will lower the number of hospitalizations. I know that there would be liquor at student apartments, but it would still help lower the number of deaths.

In a recent survey 81% of students reported they were late to class because the passing period was too short and they either had to use the restroom or there class is too far away. Students should be able to have longer passing periods for restroom usage, and to have a little nutritional snack before the next class. If students had more time, they’d have time to get prepared for the next class. Lastly there would be less detention slips given out. Since they are so short students are upset because they are tardy and have to go to detention.

Lowering the drinking age to eighteen would be good for supervision because the drinkers will drink in public where there everyone watching them. Likewise that will have the drinkers drinking responsibly because they will have to follow regulations for drinking in public. In addition they are adults already.

It’s no doubt that alcohol has a major sway on today’s society across the board both culturally and globally. When we take a look into past history, we can see how alcohol has been the fundamental measures to religious, professional, and social concerns. It seems that no matter how far our history books go back, the United States has had a question about the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Through the years of Prohibition halting the sale, shipping, and ingestion of alcohol and the constitutional acts delegating who is accurately fit to drink. Today’s controversy is a lot less infringing on personal rights. It’s regarding whether the legal drinking age should be lowered from twenty-one to eighteen. This has been a huge controversy geared exclusively towards college students due to the fact that alcohol consumption at universities is the definitive part of campus life even though the greater part of students are not legally permitted to drink. It is apparent that through the regularity and risks of binge drinking across universities and the high percentage of DUI and alcohol related fatal crashes, that something needs to shift in this country. Lowering the drinking age to eighteen would be an expedient and positive step in reducing binge drinking, nurturing the safe practice of drinking alcohol, and permitting those students of legal drinking age the chance to fully and sensibly make mature adult choices.

Lastly, if the drinking age would be lowered to 18, everyone would benefit from it. Students would drink less, their drinking environments would be safer, and the general public's tax money would be put to better use. Even though many would say that there are many benefits to the higher drinking age, but the benefits of the lower drinking age outweigh the benefits of the higher drinking age. Because the 21-year-old drinking age is not working, they need to change the law and teach responsible drinking

Lowering the drinking age to eighteen will encourage drinking in safer environments with supervision rather than secretly behind closed doors. Colleges will be a safer environment if the government would allow eighteen year olds to consume alcoholic beverages and less incidents of hidden intoxication will occur.

Should schools allow open campus lunch? Schools should allow open campus lunches. It would have more choices for lunch, Many students would love not eating school lunches, It would offer an opportunity to run home and eat and get something that you forgot for a class.

By lowering the drinking age to 18 we can stop the overuse of alcohol and prevent diseases in the later years of the young adults life. If the age is lowered to 18 the kids will not be “all over” the alcohol at the sight of it. They do this because they cannot get it themselves so they aren’t sure when they will see it again so they just get to the alcohol and start drinking as much as they can. If we lower the age to 18 then they will be able to buy the alcohol themselves so they don’t have to gulp it as soon as they see it because they know they can get it themselves. This will help to prevent the disease of alcoholism in life later on. We can also stop the act of binge drinking by lowering the drinking age to 18. Most students binge drink because they cannot be seen with alcohol in public with alcohol because they are underage. Instead they just drink a lot in a small amount of time to get drunk before the party so they don’t have to carry around the alcohol this way. If the drinking age is lowered then the student can carry around a beer in public and will not have to indulge in binge drinking. By doing this it will prevent the disease of alcohol poisoning and will also stop many deaths caused by this disease. Binge drinking by students is the number one cause of alcohol poisoning in young adult teens because of the fact that they cannot be seen with alcohol in public.

A decent sized amount of students in college are under 21 and they still drink so it would not make any sense to lower the legal drinking age because then the student would not fear the consequences of drinking and do whatever they want. Water fountains filled with soda should not be allowed! You can be a victim of soda, don't let it control you. Soda can cause many problems in a human's life, some of these problems consists of bad tooth decay, gaining kidney stones or diabetes, or in some cases, due to overdose of sugar, can cause you to have a heart attack and die! I’d love to get a soda at times during school hours but I refuse to buy a diet anything . I am glad all natural sugars are used versus artificial anything. It’s very satisfying to have a ice cold coke after a long day's work or play. I think sodas Like - Mountain Dew, coke, sprite, Big Red, and so forth should be added to the vending machine . I am sure the machines would be used more and the money they already bring in would triple . I think the students should have a voice in what we have in our vending machines. I get it , it’s a luxury not a need ,but how great it is to have something that most of us don’t want /use. besides if you do your research on diet versus coke or diet anything verses not diet you see that they aren't healthier they don’t help you maintain a healthy weight . In conclusion, underage drinking affects should be taught at a younger age before the kids are exposed. Not only should they be educated earlier but the schools policies should be stricter as well as college policies.
