Should Students Get Paid for Good Grades?
By Drew Peakman November 1st 2017
Would students be able to improve their grades if they were getting paid? Money is a great reward for most students and it could possibly have a long term effect on students. They are always wanting their grades to be improved and then they would have more of a reason to study for test and quizzes if they were getting paid do go to school. Students would be focused at school if their was money to be made by going to school. Teachers would also not be stopping as often because of students getting of track. I believe students would improve their grades if they were getting paid because, Money could have a long term effect, and more student could need a little more motivation
NCAA stands for National Collegiate Athletic Association. It’s a non-profit association that regulates and organize athletes of 1,281 institutions; conferences; organizations; and individuals. They were founded in 1906 by Theodore Roosevelt after threatening to get rid of football if things weren’t changed to make things fair. President Roosevelt’s dream still hasn’t come true because coaches, administrators and athletic directors get paid millions of dollars to coach and be mentors to these players. But the players don’t get a small piece of the it, even if they work more hours than than the average American worker, miss numerous amounts of classes because of required tournaments, give fake or independent classes so that their gpa high enough for them eligible to play, and sometimes leave college
Have you ever thought about how college is going to be like paying you college dept well by getting a scholarship you could possibly not have to pay for anything. (free college!)
money to pay for their education. Colleges are very expensive and need to start looking at it on the student perspective. Students who are graduating from high-school barely come out with less than $3,000 or less.WIENER, J. (2015) Not Every individual is able to pay for college and this just isn't fair. A high percentage of students are independent while in high school and are forced to work because of their parents low income. What happens to that student? Smart in academics, good athlete but because they cannot pay for their proper education they are forced to forget about their dreams.
Every six out of ten kids in school have failing grades. Almost every kid gets stress due to their grades. Paying kids for their grades will give them motivation, and desire to work harder. Kids should get paid for their grades to get inspired into doing better.
Why should college students get paid for playing a sport? If you really think about it, it might sound nice to get paid traditional salaries just like a professional athlete does. But, it’s not really that good of an idea because of what college offers you already when you play the sports. College students who play college sports get put on live TV broadcast during their games so everyone in the world could see them play and some students who play sports in high school will get a scholarship to go to a good college if they are recognized by how good they are at the sport. All of that is a privilege for playing a sport in college and those who get recognized or are that good at the sport could eventually become a professional athlete and then
To foundationally break the question on whether student athletes should get paid or not, we need to ask ourselves if students should get paid in the first place. Students are the reason why many young adults go to college. Students are people attending a lesson willingly to learn a lesson. College and Universities are a place for students to learn and excel with the enormous resources that are available for students to utilize. Several of our brightest citizens of the world have been students. These people include Jeff Bezos (Amazon Founder), Mark Zuckerberg (Founder of Facebook), Marissa Mayer (CEO of Yahoo), as well as many other famous, and successful people in this world. All of these successful people went
The average grade for students paying for their education with their own personal income was significantly higher than those students relying on financial aid. Six students are passing with an A average while paying for their education or 67% of the possible 9 students and the remaining 3 are passing with a B average or 33%, while 3 students we’re passing with an A average making up 27% of all students using financial aid and 5 students are passing with a B average and are responsible for 45% of those using financial aid. Two of the remaining 3 are passing with a C average or 18%, and the remaining student 10% is currently failing. The numbers clearly show that the grade average is higher for those paying for their education out of pocket.
Most Americans play sports, maultiple children and adults play sports that they love. One of the most famous sports in America is football.People play it in college and many want to get paid for it.KIds get scolerships so they don’t have to pay it themselves. College students should not be paid while playing in college sports.
It is a bitter, cold February evening, my wife and I are eating at the local McDonalds. The smell of the hamburgers and french fries surround us. Why are we eating here instead of eating at a real restaurant? I’m broke, and it’s all because I’m paying for kids that aren’t mine to get a good education. I believe I shouldn’t be forced to pay for school funding because I don’t even have a child!! I feel it is unfair because, it doesn't’ benefit me, the money isn’t going to good schools , and schools may be using this money for things that will not continue to help other students as well.
Leonhardt says “Americans with four year college degrees made 98 percent more an hour on average in 2013 than people without a degree.” According to the statistics of the past thirty years, he came to the conclusion that if there were more college graduates, the pay gap would shrink. The national income inequality has a lot to do with the American’s education level.
I am a kid myself. I exert myself not for good grades, but for a good future, and that is what is imperative here. The want for money, praise and prevalence will win out over our desire for money every time. Who is providing us with this money? Our parents? They already pay for our education. Students need to learn that they will need a fuel other than their parents' wealth as they become more and more independent. Grades don't always reflect competence, either. A child who is inherently bright needs to learn there is always room for improvement, whatever his or her report card says.
I think that kids should get paid for having good grades for one reason. I am a student and I think that if we would get paid for making good grades a lot more kids would try. It is kind of like a job. You have to work hard so that you don’t get fired. If the kids were getting paid for good grades, then by the time they got out of high school they would have money for college, a car, or if there not going to college they will have money to rent a house.
Paid for Good Grades University of Rochester professor Edward Deci told Time magazine, “What we really want is for people to value the activity of learning.” While some people believe we should pay students to do well in school, students are the ones that need the education. Although paying kids for good grades can result in better grades, it can cause them to be spoiled and want paid for everything they do. Kids should just be expected to get good grades.
There has been a long-winded debate regarding tuition fees and what students receive in exchange for their payments towards their degree course, and with interesting information leaking from student newspaper, Epigram of the University of Bristol last year, the debate could become heated. The student newspaper published figures after obtaining a freedom of information request which lead to 150 arts and social science students protesting at the university in December 2014. These students were suspicious as to where the money from their expensive tuition fees was being allocated after learning how much their degree courses 'cost' per student.
The ideal of students been paid for exceeding in their grades would motivate the students more. Which help students break beyond their limits .In any case it will help them become very successful in school. This is good thing because they help themselves by enlighten their self with more knowledge.
