Should Students Have Cell Phones At Lunches

Most schools do not allow the use of cell phones in school or in class, so the school feels like changing their policy of cell phone use might be a bad idea. Students could take advantage or miss use the privilege of phones in class. There will always be students who act out in class, but the school must discipline those who do and reward those who do not.

Cell phones are distracting in school and disrupt learning. Students should always be giving their teacher their undivided attention. Cell phones in school create problems and they affect students’ grades. Although some may claim these reasons to be true, they are undeniably wrong. The proponents of cell phones should not be allowed in school argue, “We know for a fact that the use of cell phones on school property around the country has led to a number of problems around safety.” This is wrong because cell phone use on school grounds is only beneficial to individuals on and off school property. Cell phones do not necessarily prevent problems, but they do help in times of emergencies. They promote safety in situations such as school shootings or hostage situations. The proponents of cell phones should not be allowed in school also argue “Student’s whose minds wander during a lecture or discussion may find the temptation of texting instead of listening hard to resist.” While this is true, it is up to the student to pay attention. However, texting instead of listening is the same as doodling and not listening, or playing on a school issued laptop even after being told to put it away. Hmm, phones in the classroom! What do you think? That is a debate between billions of people in the world today. Children all over the world have phones, but they can not have them out during school hours. Cell phones are important to so many kids and adults. These devices have been around for so long, and many people can not live without them. All around the school campus, students are miserable without their phones. In the world today, about three-fourths of the U.S. population have phones. A cell phone is an important thing to some people. Without cell phones, kids wouldn't have access to their social media accounts like Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. So take this into consideration, even if it is in one class, students should be allowed to get on their cell phones during school hours.

The first reason cell phones should be allowed in school is if a student needs to contact someone if they are sick. We should be allowed to call or text are parents if we feel sick. Kids will leave school and not get teachers or students sick. Kids will be able to stay at home so they can get better then come back so they do not miss too many days. If there is a emergency parents might need contact a student or something might happen at school where a student might need to call or text their parent.If kids have a condition of some sort they might need to let their parent know what they need. If students are sick and out of school for a while they should be allowed to make the work up that they missed. Although it is debatable as to weather students should be allowed to use cell phones during classes, free time at school is also a time at which students who use cell phones are persecuted. If one needs to talk to somebody about something important, it is slightly unreasonable that he or she should have to sneak around with their phones during free time in flex or lunch. Why should somebody not be allowed to use a cellular device during their personal time? There are really no legitimate reasons.

Additionally, students can talk to others across the lunch room and play with others on their cell phones. Just think, the lunch room wouldn’t be so loud! Teachers need to get with it and allow phones during the school day. Students want to petition to have phones during school. Phones should be conceded in school because in case of an emergency. First, if there is a killer in the school and you want to tell your parents about what's happening. Second if there is bad weather like a tornado or the roads are bad and icy. Last, if you're sick and you need your parents to pick you up from school. Next is after school activities. What if they cancel and all the buses left already. Another is if there is a change in schedule with time or place. Last is if you need a ride home or to the activity. Students should be aloud to have cell phones in class because they are more than just a phone, cellphones can help kids connect with other things like students or they will be able to see what their friends are doing. Also cell phones can also help you in many other ways like if you want to talk to someone but you're too shy to communicate with them, then you could be able to get there number or find them on social media and be able to talk to them that way. Students should want to come to school not pretend to be sick like many kids have done will will always do. If a kid doesn't want to go to school because he doesn't have friends he might get depressed and not go. And if you are depressed you might feel suicidal and try to hurt yourself.

At Jefferson middle school, we are only allowed to have our phones out during lunch time. The teacher’s think that It is a distraction having our phones out while we are in class. But I think that we should be able to have our phones out while we are in class,some students get their work done better if they are listening to music. Allison from house 7-1 thinks that it is a good idea to have our cell phones in math class so that we can use them for calculators.

Many teachers believe that cell phones don’t belong in a classroom because there are several disadvantages. An example maybe a student who uses a cell phone in class has no intension in listening or paying attention to the teacher. This student has a short attention span who cares about socializing more than his/her education. Cell phones can be very disruptive; they can invade people’s privacy and can also be used as harassment or bullying. The usage of cell phones is creating a huge problem particularly when they are used in school.

Cellphone’s should be able to be brung to schools for a good reason. The three that I came up with are kids getting home for school, useful for our education, and for downloading apps for us to use for our education for the kids at school. The first reason i say that cellphones should be brought was for safety of the kids getting home from school. If a kid is at school and they are trying to get home they can call their parents to come pick them up our another relative can. Also if a kid gets lost walking home from school they can just call somebody instead of asking a stranger and the stranger might just try to kidnap you. As you know, not many schools allow the use of phones in school. Those that do usually have a strict restriction on them. Even though most schools do not allow the use of phones in the classrooms, they have educational benefits, therefore they should be allowed in the classroom. The reason I think phones should be allowed is because they don't only have distracting uses, but they also have educational uses. Although phones can be distracting, there are tons of educational uses for phones. School is a place where students go to gain an education, but school it is also a place where relationships are built and where people go to converse. With so many different ways of communicating to one another, it is easy to just take out a cell phone and to use it as a tool for just about anything, but the use of cell phones at school can lead problems for not only the student but for those around him or her. The use of cell phones during school hours can cause distractions to the student and even the class, with these distractions cell phones can also create bad learning habits that would not of been there if cell phones were not in use, lastly while in school, students are provided with necessary materials which makes the use of cell phones almost redundant. With all those problems cell phones cause, schools should have the right to ban cell phones during the school day.

Cell phones should not be allowed in school. They are classroom distractions, and not a learning device. Every year many students complain about not being able to use their cell phones in school. And every year many schools eventually cave to cater to the things that students complain most about. Schools have been changing and bending rules so that students so that they can use their cell phones during school hours. They claim that they can be use as learning devices, which they can be, but you don’t need a cell phone.

Students should be permitted limited use of mobile phone while attending their schools. Not all students use their mobile or cellular phones while at school; many do. Not all students who use their cell phone in school are using them during class. Students and educational staff come down very hard on students for using cell phones during class session, in many cases, justifiably so. Yet, there are instances when mobile phone use during school is not a distraction or threat to the students' attention and education.
