I think eighth graders at GMS should be allowed to use their phones at lunch. The quality of life in our school would certainly improve because we the students wouldn’t feel the urge to play on our phones during class. This would allow us to be better in academics.
In the first place, we would be able to contact our parents; notify them about needing medication, clothes, or a ride. Also, let them know about after school activities.
Additionally, students can talk to others across the lunch room and play with others on their cell phones. Just think, the lunch room wouldn’t be so loud! The teachers wouldn’t have to talk to students about being too loud. A way to earn to be on their phones is making sure all class work is done, don’t be on
Do you want to have phones at lunch during school? I think we should at least let students have phones at lunch. If we have them at lunch then we wont have to have them during class periods and disrupt class. I think if we want to change this we should have a meeting with the leaders of the school board. I would like it better because we could offer examples right there with them. I would also like it because I would probably be more calm for the meeting than I would be during if I wrote a letter, I might also say more appropriate words.
The first reason why cell phones should be allowed in school is that it will help with a lot of different things. If we have phones allowed at lunch, it will make more students comfortable. According to debate.org 76% of the people who visited this website said that they would allow cell phones, and 24% said
Letting kids have phones in school would be great, here is a few reasons why. When you go to school and you have an emergency you can use your phone. Also, teachers can use it for assignments and it will be faster. If you don't let students use them they will be at a disadvantage. Schools should let students use phones because, they can look up facts quicker and easier, save schools a lot of money, and teachers can use it for academics. Letting kids have phones will improve kids everyday life at school.
Are you always on your phone? Either Snapchatting, on Instagram, scrolling through your twitter feed? It can be pretty temping to pick up your phone and do this stuff in class but you can use them in good ways in school. George Washington Middle School currently has cell phones banned in class. Although most teachers think that cell phones are a distraction, cell phones should be allowed in class because students feel anxious without their phones, there are many educational uses, and allowing phones is more convenient.
People should be able to use phones during schooltime. When students have free time we can use our phones for games, music, and anything else that it can be used for. We should be able to be able to use our phones in the hallways. Thats what we should be able to do.
One reason why we should have our phones at school is because some teachers would say “kids will text each other during a test.” But all the teachers have to do is take the phones away during the test is going on, and when the test is over then the teachers can give you your phone back. Another reason is that teacher would say is “you don’t need your phones that are why there are chromebooks.” But on
Even more importantly, I think that we should be able to have our phones whenever we want at Grant Middle School. I think this because of safety, responsibility, and preparation for the real outside world. “Why do we panic when our phones fall, but when are friends fall we laugh” a quote by Google. One connection I had was, when my track & field coach said if you didn’t bring your clothes you have to sit out next meet. I called my mom and didn’t have to sit out. One counterclaim is,there could a huge test were if you fail, you're done for at least six weeks, and you're on the phone playing a game. One way to pursue us of having our phones in class is everybody sign a petition. What would you do if you agree to have our phones in
The students would not have to make time to go to the computer lab to use a computer, they could instantly research at their desk (Funding , 2014). For students to use a cell phone in the classroom, they would have to be greatly monitored to keep them focused on research, not playing games, texting, or browsing social media. If the students are not monitored when using a cell phone in class, their learning process is hindered greatly. Statistics show that seventy-three percent of teachers admitted that they or their students use cell phones in the classroom (Bautista, 2013). Cell phones can be a distraction for teachers as well as students, if teachers are too wrapped up in their social networking profiles and not concerned with the students sitting before them, they are failing to do their job
People who oppose this proposal have every right to believe this, but there actually is another side to it. Less talking can be beneficial at times in a Junior High. From experience, this writer knows that lunchtime can be a time where friendships are disrupted. This can lead to fist fights and bullying, which can be prevented with the creation of a new policy because students will be using their phones instead of spewing negative comments about each other. Also, the survey results indicate that 63% of the students surveyed said that the time they spend talking would actually increase during lunch. This may seem contrary to the previous paragraph, however it does not promise a completely silent lunchroom, but instead it promotes something that a lunch supervisor thinks that they can only dream of: a quieter cafeteria than our current
Today, we would like to discuss why cell phone use should be allowed while in school and how allowing cell phones during school hours can
Have you ever had that moment when your cell phone went off in class? Then all of a sudden your whole class is staring at you because of this enormous disruption. So the class has stopped the process of learning all because of you and your phone addiction. This is why cellphones should not be allowed in the classroom. But school in general, such as lunch or passing periods should be when students are allowed for students to use.
By doing this, students will be able to have cell phones on them for communicating to parents, research, and emergencies that may happen throughout the day. The plan is to reduce anxiety about getting caught with your phone in school, and to make communication to parents easier. Students would be able to have their phones, 1st through 7th hour, and would be able to have their phone on them at all
Many students will play on their phones and not pay attention to the teacher and the lesson that the teacher is giving. Students are sent to school to learn and by playing with cell phones during classes students are not learning anything that will help them with a career or their futures. Students can also text friends in other classrooms and not have their minds in the classroom that they are in. Students may eventually stop coming to school because they can just stay home and use their cell phones and do other things.
There are countless other reasons for the proposal to be implemented. For instance, a revised curriculum in schools could positively impact the students of these schools. It’s vital that schools that allow students to use their cell phones in class immediately put a stop to this practice. However some people such as, Lisa Nielson would argue with this. She believes that cell phones are the way of the future and need to be embraced (Nielson, 2008, p.5.). However this needs to be the first step because cell phones become a distraction in the classroom. Luckily, Jack Tessier reports that many schools have already taken preventative measures, “many schools have implemented policies to restrict cell phone use by students and teachers” (Tessier, 2013). These policies are important to implement because if students are using their cell phones it follows that they are not listening to the teachers. Furthermore, schools need to cease their dependence on technology outside of the classroom. Cell phones slow students down and prevent them from efficiently completing their work. “ Using your cell phone while completing a task takes 50 percent longer and you make up to 50 percent more errors.” (Kaminski 2015, p.2). Classroom activity for the most part should be limited to lectures and homework based on what was learned in class. This is necessary because students already know how to use technology, it’s important for them to learn to use their resources to complete assignments. They need
Smartphones have become a part of everyone’s body. Almost everything can be done through smart phones. Paying bills, doing grocery, buying food, and more time consuming tasks can all be done almost instantly by smartphones. Many jobs and institutions today do not allow the use of smartphones during a certain time, especially schools. Prohibition of cell phones in school is a good idea to prevent students from getting distracted. However, high school students should be allowed to access their cell phones at school, because high school students are mature enough to use their cell phones productively and beneficially. Having access to internet is very important to high school students. Many students could not afford to have all kinds of devices, such as laptop, tablets, and cell phones. Entirely banning the usage of cell phones can make students hate the school causing them to be more arrogant.
