Should Undocumented Immigrants Be Deported

Illegal immigration has plagued the United States since immigration laws were created, and has worsened in recent history. Since Ronald Reagan’s Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 provided amnesty for 3 million illegal aliens in exchange for increased border security, millions of people have entered the country illegally. Over the past 30 years, the illegal immigrant population of the country has more than doubled from 5 million in 1986 to over 11.5 million in 2015. It has become one of the most controversial political issues in America. While not every undocumented alien is a bad or dangerous person, illegal immigrants in general are a national security threat, harmful to the economy, and a burden on the social welfare system. The best solution to the illegal alien problem is to secure and enforce the border, purge American territory of every person unlawfully trespassing upon it, and reform the immigration system to make it easier for foreigners to enter the United States legally like people have done for centuries.

America has the largest illegal-immigrant population in the world. As a country we are not doing much to stop it. According to the Pew Research Center, there were approximately 5.7 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. in 1995. As of 2014, there are around 11.3 million living in America. Immigration is vital to this country. Unless you are 100% full blooded native, somewhere down your family’s history you immigrated to this county. It is evident that something needs to be done to fix our immigration system, but what? The United States of America (USA) has been one of the traditional receiving countries of immigrants (Friedberg & Hunt, 1995), and they do not take in too lightly of allowing immigrants violate its law and entering illegally to settle in its country without consequences. He provided evidence such as religious beliefs as well as education. He also says that immigrants are polluting this country with their low level education and their careless behavior. Stephens then continues to discuss about the disadvantages of welcoming immigrants into the country. The view that Stephens is arguing on only applies to the minority of the immigrants and that definitely proves that his argument is not valid and does not represent the rest of the immigrants in this country.

Illegal immigration has been troubling the United States for fot quite some time now, with the illegal immigrants taking jobs, being criminals, the fact that they are illegal and how they are in the United States wishing for a better life, but not trying to become a legal immigrant. Those crimes included: murder, illicit trafficking in firearms, and drug trafficking. (Cuahtemoc & Hernandez, 2013) Before 1986, deportation was reserved for violent crimes and those crimes that carried long prison sentences. The Immigration Act of 1990 expanded the category of crimes that required mandatory deportation. (Blake, 2015) And Congress stayed very far from its original intentions. I agree with the fact that noncitizens who commit violent crimes, gang members, drug dealers, etc. should be punished through deportation. Undocumented immigrants who move to the U.S to help give a better life to their families should not worry about being deported. Undocumented immigrants risk their lives crossing boarders, just to give their families a better life. Not all undocumented are rapists, drug traffickers or any of the other things Donald Trump has said about the undocumented immigrant. Undocumented immigrant laws have become a situation because so many undocumented immigrants live and work in the United States. Illegal immigration is a big problem in the United States. One of the big problems is lost jobs. Millions of American citizens are out of jobs because of foreclosure caused by illegal immigrants. Jobs that are less alluring are being taken over by illegal immigrants. So the Americans who would take these jobs to provide for their families now can't.

Each year thousands of mexicans cross the border illegally to find work in the united states. Most perform jobs that U.S citizens won’t do, and they pay taxes, some argue they should receive amnesty. Immigrants come to America chasing hopes and dreams of someday having a life of wealth. The United States has this imagine that everything will be better and all your problems will be solved. However, in the last century we’ve had a raise of Illegal Immigrants in the country.

There are too many illegal immigrants over here. I feel that they should be deported. They are messing up our economy. There are soooo many Americans who do not have a job and would be happy to get a lower paying job if companies would stop hiring illegals. I blame the companies more than anything simply because if they would NOT HIRE illegals we would NOT have illegals taking over our country. They are taking over it and the government is allowing this to happen. I mean America is becoming a second Mexico folks.

Dealing with the legal status and deporting undocumented immigrants can cost the United States a lot of money. The country would also lose a lot if they deported all undocumented immigrants. The immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed. The immigration system as of now can’t keep up with the demand of a growing economy and the diversity of the nation. The strict legal limits on green cards makes it nearly impossible for undocumented immigrants to become legal. The country should try to make it as easy as possible for those who qualify to legally come into the country on visas and green cards. A bill has been proposed a bill that would provide a path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country and to tighten the security at the border. Congress and the President have worked on bills and acts to try and reform immigration. Most of the acts and bills have been rejected and some are being worked on now. Improving rights, and making the process for becoming legal easier, could help more immigrants get into the country and make an impact on the economy.
